I really did enjoy this book - however probably not as much as if I read that it was the 8th book in the series.
at the time of requesting i did not realise this and that is my own fault.
Whilst the storyline was excellent, some of the book i did not get.
However, i have also now asked for the other 7 at my local library so will look forward to reading them!
Was brilliant to get back into the Will Trent series after so long! loved this so much!
The Kept Woman was a brilliant addition to the series, tying up loose ends and finally giving us answers into the pasts of some of the characters.
Something VERY strange happened when I started reading this book. So I picked it up, read a couple of chapters and put it down. This happened on three occassions and with many months in between picking it up again. For some reason I just coudn't seem to engage, and thenf inally I just forced myself to continue reading. By the time I had got past those first few strangely non-engaging chapters (for me anyway) I was away as per normal. It was incredibly strange as I am a huge fan of this author, maybe I wasn't in the correct mindset the first few times. However, I am so glad I pushed on through my initial reluctance as this ended up being another cracking book in this brilliant series.
Will Trent is a very likeable character, as is his current girlfriend Sara. However his wife Angie is a different kettle of fish. I actually love reading about her but despise her as a character. However this time around she seems to be front and centre with this latest storyline. A dead cop's body is found and when Sara, Will and his partner Faith and their boss Amanda are at the scene it becomes apparent that all the blood there is not from just the victim.
I absolutely love this series and it wasn't until the story startes to unfold that I was reminded of just why I love it so much. Sara and Will are a good match but I love the fact that Will has SO many issues one of which is his evil and manipulative wife Angie. In adiditon I'm a huge fan of Amanda and it was so great to catch up with all of them. The story (once past the first few chapters) was full of pace and grit and its usual dark and disturbing content all of which made me totally an utterly engrossed. This was another cracking book in the series and I am looking forward to reading another Karin Slaughter book.
With regret, I was unable to get into this book. I think because there is such a back history of the characters that I wasn't aware of. I feel therefore that someone who has followed the whole series will surely rate it highly.
I’ve been very fortunate to have read most of Karin Slaughter’s novels and the same thing happens time and time again. Just like a seasoned athlete who tries to improve a time or distance, Slaughter somehow manages to fine tune her characters and locations bringing both Atlanta and Will Trent alive with each turn of the page.
Always an engaging read, Trent is once again at the forefront and as this is heavily character driven there’s not much one can say without giving the game away. There’s more than enough content that can only be described as disturbing and add a little gore to the show and you have a thrilling read on your hands!
One thing I would say is that to get the most out of this book, you should definitely begin at the beginning of the series, pick up Will Trent #1 and go along for a thrilling and energetic ride that will leave you wanting more. There’s a reason that Slaughter is the queen of crime, she’s worked hard to achieve her status and I can’t see her relinquishing her throne anytime soon!
The kept woman was another great book by Karin Slaughter.
It starts with the discovery of the body of Dale Harding an ex detective and then then it transports you into the investigation into his death.
A great book that's full of twists and turns.
The latest novel in the Will Trent series from No. 1 bestselling author, Karin Slaughter.
Angie always causes Will problems.
There is an abandoned site that has dead bodies, lots of blood and a mystery to be solved.
Then there is Sara, Will lover, the heartache that Angie has caused her, just from loving Will.
The blood is a lot, and originally it is thought to come from Angie, but not so, and whoever has lost the blood, needs help fast.
Then another major player in the story is a famous athlete, who is not so friendly with his wife. A PI that is dying and wants to save his drug addicted daughter.
There is a huge amount of suspense, that is fast paced. Certainly gets your mind thinking. The seamless way that Slaughter has written the story, keeps you intrigued and wanting more..
Awaiting the next instalment in Will Trent's crazy mixed up life.
