have really enjoyed all of Sarah Morgan's books set around the same 'universe' in and around New York City. Not only do you get to know two new characters, you also get to catch up on some of the future developments of previous characters you have come to love. I love how Sarah's stories all intertwine but you also get a new and fresh perspective and dig deeper on some characters that you have met briefly before in her previous books.
It was great to be back with these characters, this time delving into Frankie’s story. As with the previous book, the author’s writing brought this lovely bunch of characters to life and at the same time pulled me in so that I felt part of it all too.
Frankie had a number of issues which I was determined to get to the bottom of, it frustrated me how she kept everyone at a distance. I just wanted her to be happy - I told you I felt like part of the storyline. As her love life progressed I found myself holding my breath, waiting for the moment that she would let go!
There were a lot of underlying emotional issues going on with most of the characters, they were people who had been broken in some way by things in their past. Something I took away from the storyline is not to believe everything your brain tells you and that life often looks very different from an alternative perspective.
This was a warm, heartfelt read with an important message. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I DNF'd this book about halfway through the book because I wasn't invested in what was happening or connecting with the characters. I did purchase a copy of the book.
I loved this book. It is the second in the "From Manhattan With Love" trilogy. Each one is the love story of friends Paige, Frankie and Eva. This is Frankie's turn and tells the of the stop/start romance with Matt, who is Paige's brother. Frankie and Matt have known each other since childhood. She begins to fall in love with Matt but cannot go against her belief, instilled by her mother, that men will always leave you. When Frankie's dad cheated and left her mum it was Frankie herself who had looked after them both. Frankie had to put up with loads of her mothers relationships, which never worked and she was always there to pick up the pieces for her mother. Matt knows it will take time for Frankie to trust him, so can she ever learn the meaning of true love?
