I loved this book from start to finish! It was funny, it was romantic, but it was mysterious as well. I didn't want to stop reading but I'm so excited to read the next one! This was a great feel-good book and I can't wait to see what happens next! I've also put a review up on my blog.
It was awesome !
I loved this book, the characters, the background and all the references.
Melody is 27 years old and wants to change something in her life, so she decides to open her own ghost busting agency. Because Melody is different.
For generations, the Bittersweet family has the faculty to see dead people. Whereas her grandmother and mother help the dead to deliver their last message, Melody wants to help the living people to make their ghosts go away.
This is how it all starts. With the help of Artie and her bff Marina, Melody gets into action in the Scaborough mansion that can’t be sold because of the ghosts. Melody then becomes the first rival of Leo Dark, her ex boyfriend, who also sees ghosts.
This case is a long and bumpy ride, Melody will have to be courageous to find out the truth, all of this without being bugged by her grandmother and mother but also by Fletcher, a local journalist who does not believe at all in the Bittersweet family’s gift.
It is funny and it makes you swoon. The story and the mystery get the job done, a real page turner. So good ! I loved the relationship between Melody & Marina, the sarcastic lines and their deep friendship. Artie is a fun and touching guy.
Can’t wait to read the next book !
What a hoot! A delightful start to a new series. On the one hand, you have the sugar addict, ghost seeing Melody, who comes from a long line of people who can see and communicate with ghosts. She starts her own ghostbuster company, with her mafia princess friend and BDG Artie. The flip side has her ex, who also sees ghosts, and his twin freaky barbie dolls. Lots of clashes as the two butt heads over the same jobs. Swimming around the outside is her weird pug, and the non-believer reporter. Lots of laughter and lots of fun. Highly recommend this book and author, and have jumped into the second book where the story continues.

Cover: I like it
Cliffhanger: Well the series continues
Triangle: No? Yes? In her mind? Huh?
So recently I’ve been into ghosts’ stories and I can’t seem to stop, one of those phases…
The writing, even though is an ARC, I don’t think I saw even one mistake, maybe I was too excited that I overlooked them.
The story, Melody is a ghost whisperer, her whole family is, so their business is to help ghosts relay messages to their living loved ones. Melody has found her niche, she asks herself, “what if someone doesn’t want the ghost around?”. She starts a ghost hunting business with her best friend Marina (love her) and Artie (loved him). Obviously they have enemies, people who don’t believe in ghosts and family who meddles every 0.5 seconds. I loved it…
The characters, I loved every single one of them! Is just not enough gushing in the world I could do to tell you that you will learn to love every character in this book, no matter how small their part is. Some of them you will even love to hate.
The humor, Melody’s fantasy dreams? They are just hilarious, and her inner monologue was just what I needed this week.
Overall, great start of the series, is great to see Kitty French do this kind of book, read her Knight series, which I liked too, and now I know she can thrive in whatever she sets her eyes on. Well done…
I hope this series continues, if not, I’m going to cry everyday…
A fun, funny, sparkling book! An absolute treat from start to finish. 4/5 stars.
After a week of literary fiction and psychological thrillers, this book was a much-needed breath of fresh air. The characters are terrific, as long as you don’t mind quirky. If quirky sets you teeth on edge, this definitely isn’t one for you.
The best thing about the book is how genuinely funny it is. I’m not ashamed to say that while reading I laughed out loud several times, spent a long time smiling and actually snorted once. I mean, there’s a comedy dog. You can’t go wrong with a comedy dog, even Shakespeare knew that.
The murder mystery at the centre of the plot is perhaps a little thin (we’re short on suspects, so it’s not exactly hard to guess who the baddy is) but that didn’t matter in the slightest because I just enjoyed being along for the ride with the Ghosthunting gang.
And, as someone with a sweet tooth, I particularly enjoyed hearing about Marina’s grandmother’s Italian baking 🙂
I look forward to reading more of Melody and her friends’ adventures in the future.
Overall: if you’re looking for some lighthearted escapism, this fun, funny book with its loveable characters is for you!
