Enjoyable book with good, strong characters and good flowing story. I will keep an eye out for this author in the future. Thank you

This one has been on my TBR for a long, long time! I recently joined the library and picked this out as one of my first books on loan. I’ve been reading Tasmina Perry books for a long time, so long it makes me feel quite old, so I was excited to get back into her writing.
Tasmina’s books are always quite glamorous and a look into a totally different world than mine. The House on Sunset Lake is no different. Main character Jim works for a luxury hotel group on the bring of becoming CEO. He’s asked to make a purchase on Casa D’Or, a beautiful plantation house in Savannah. It’s steeped in history but also holds a lot of personal history for Jim.
The story runs in two timelines - 1994 and 2015. In 1994, Jennifer tells the story of meeting a much younger Jim. We get an insight to the incident that happened at the big house that year and a glimpse into all of the characters. There’s an air of mystery as you try to tie up present day and past. It definitely didn’t turn out like I expected.
I loved the setting in this book. I’ve never been to Savannah but it reading about it had a real similar feel to New Orleans. I have a few other books from this author in my TBR to get to so I’m looking forward to those after dipping my toes back into her writing.
Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this title.

Another spectacular read from Yasmin's so easy to read her style flow well Well written, great strong characters, great setting that you could see in your mind . A good book

This was a great , light beach read for me. I love books about the South, secrets, and second chances. I couldn’t put this one down.
Many thanks to Headline Review and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Unfortunately I struggled through this book and found it slow and dare I say a boring read. I couldn’t warm to the characters either and was glad to finish it.

Another spectacular read from Yasmin's Perry. They just get better with every book!! Well written, great characters, great setting. An outstanding read.

I read this novel what seems like ages ago, but had overlooked leaving a review.
Excellent! Loved the story, which was a real page turner. I have read one other novel (The Proposal) which was just as good. Looking forward to reading more by this author.

4.5 Stars
What an evocative story of romance, suspense, intrigue, secrets, family and a whole lot more, in a story spanning a twenty year gap.
The majority of the book is set around Casa D'Or on Sunset Lake, and is was great to see how this one house, could feature in so many key bits of two people's history. For it is central to Jim and Jennifer's story both in 1994 and now in the present too.
Some of the book is set in the 90s and the rest in the present, and I loved both parts of it, as together it tells you all about Jim, Jennifer, and their families, past and present. It didn't take too long into the book for me to be gripped by the fabulous writing, and the story, while suspecting there would be some surprises along the way.
Casa D'Or is in Savannah, Georgia, which is a part of the US that I haven't really encountered much in fiction before. With this book I got a great feel for the climate and feel for the area, even if my knowledge o the town doesn't really extend much past this property.
But the book isn't just set in Savannah, there is also plenty in New York, and then there are some scenes on a Caribbean island, that I believe to be entirely fictional, but no less gorgeous than real life.
I enjoyed seeing the contrast in how the years have treated Jim and Jennifer, from their younger ideals, to the man and women in their forties now. There are many parts of story that are hinted at, but its only in the last third or so where everything comes together and you see just how good and clever the majority of the book has been!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The House on Sunset Lake, and its definitely a return to form for Tasmina Perry, although I do still prefer her big blockbuster books, this has some of the feel of one, with the destinations and intrigue, but was missing the lashings of sex!
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Headline for this copy which I have reviewed voluntarily and honestly.
