It starts from two narratives . Rachel in the present time : after discovering a body of her old friend , she comes back to her old town and try to find how she went missing with the help of missing girl brother.
The other is from Sophie point of view before she disappeared and the days leading to it.

Fascinating, but slow start.

In the middle as I started to understand what happening, I started to feel sorry for Frankie. What she done wrong to deserve this! I seriously thought the wrong person killed sophie. Butofcoure by the end I was shocked to my bones....
What sad story, you can feel how badly it was going Sophie. I absolutely didn't know who ,what and why? Because most of the books I know the answer to at least one of these questions.

The ending was one of most shocking I read for while.I didn't see it coming and never in million year I would figure it out.

Wow this book was addictive I struggled to put it down. Wish I could give more than five stars it gripped me from the start.
The book alternates between Sophie from just before she disappeared and then to the present time where her friend Francesca returns to the seaside town to help Sophie's brother find out the truth about her disappearance.
Rad this book you won't be

A tremendously enjoyable and cleverly plotted thriller. Woolfed it down in very few readings.

Local girl missing tells the story of missing Somerset girl Sophie who disappeared after reuniting with her best friend Francesca over the summer holidays after they turned 21. From reading the alternating chapters of Frankie and the beyond the grave voice of Sophie it is clear that both are keeping secrets close to their chest.

I practically skipped through this book because I wanted to know what had happened to Sophie after she disappeared off the pier and the more I read the more gripping and crazy the book progressed. Some of the experiences that Frankie experienced in her rented apartment were a bit OTT but this makes sense when the book reaches its climax.

Whilst Sophie's experiences are somewhat tragic the colourful Frankie adds a bit more light to the story initially.

The twist at the end of the book is completely mindblowing and whilst I had guessed many times what the ending would be I was nowhere near close to what actually occurs.

A good read for those who like a bit of mystery and drama.

Thanks again to Netgalley for the advance copy of the book I received.

i read this book in a day, mainly because I couldn't put it down!

I had to know what had happened- I cared about the characters and needed to know what had happened to Sophie. There was the right amount of tension in the book- sometimes it's too dragged out in a book, leading you to go off it, but this one had a good pace to it. I was spooked by it, just as Frankie was.

I liked the ending, it's not what I expected. I also liked the newspaper piece by Daniel at the end.

A good book- I'll look out for more of Claire Douglas' books!

For some reason, this book took me ages to read. I know this wasn't down to the story, though - I read over 50% in 2 days, but got distracted after that!

I really liked how the story is written with alternating perspectives - Frankie in present day, and excerpts from Sophie's diary as her story is told. I did find it a little annoying sometimes when, in Frankie's perspective, she kept talking 'to' Sophie by saying "you", but as I read more of the story, I realised it worked really well and wouldn't have worked as well without it.

The story was gripping and tense - perfect for a mystery thriller! I loved the story and when I did actually get the time to sit down and read it, I flew through it. As for the ending... oh my god, talk about a twist in the tale! I can't believe how much happened in the space of a couple of chapters! The whole mystery was wrapped up very quickly (maybe a little too quickly in parts), but I enjoyed it. Was I completely satisfied by the ending? Maybe about 80%. But it definitely had the shock factor!

Thanks for this book, NetGalley. I'm glad I read it!

This thriller held my interest right to the end. It's narrated by Frankie and Sophie, who were childhood friends, growing up in Bristol in the nineties. Frankie is an only child with parents who run a hotel. Sophie is in a single parent family with her mother and brother Daniel. She is from the poorer part of town. The girls are apart during college years and reunite back in Bristol, when they are nineteen. Sophie goes missing at the end of 1997 and her body is never found. in the present day Frankie gets a phone call from Daniel who tells her that part of Sophie's body may have been found. He asks Frankie to help him find Sophie's killer so Frankie returns to Bristol. Strange things start happening to her, she receives anonymous letters and feels someone wants to kill her. Read on for a surprising ending.

Absolutely loved this book. I was hooked right from the start and the storyline really intrigued me. I liked the book being written from different viewpoints and little by little the reader learnt more about each character, their life now and then. There were lots of twists and turns along the way with red herrings too. I loved the fact that this book really got me thinking and analysing who could have done it. So well written and I will definitely be looking out for more books from this author.

No review added to my page as felt the story to contrived.

What an excellent read, totally gripping. The story features two friends whose friendship is overshadowed by events from the past. a good story with excellent characters. The author switches between three time frames, it is written with great skill and I found this a very intersting style. The story moves from present to past and back again and has a very strong ending with a twist I had not expected. All in all a very good read.

First I must say thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a copy of this book. Oh my goodness, I cannot believe it has taken me so long to pick up this book. It is very cleverly written from the perspective of the two main characters. This book drags you in right from the start and you feel compelled to not put it down and just carry on reading. It is full of twists and keeps you guessing right to the very end. A brilliant book that I would recommend without hesitation.
