Enjoyable book with good, strong characters and good flowing story. I will keep an eye out for this author in the future. Thank you

Unfortunately this book was just not for me. I felt there was gapping plot holes and it just didn't flow.

Not really for me i did try but it was just not for me.
Huge plot holes and just something else missing not sure which but no
Thank you Netgalley for a copy for an honest review

I enjoyed this book and thank Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read it.

I loved the idea for the book but the main character just came across as too niave and there seemed to be several holes in the plot. Still an enjoyable read though.

I hardly ever give a 1* rating.
I’m not about to rip the book apart either.
For ME…..
Plot holes
Jumps all over the place
Not consistent and I found it a bit boring to tell you the truth, and I feel horrid saying that.

Omg wow this book is amazing it's full of twists and turns it will keep you up all night I really enjoyed this book

This book is about a woman who finds her husband dead in the grounds of their remote farmhouse in the middle of the night. I enjoyed this book but I thought there were quite a few plot holes and parts that didn’t make sense. It also jumped around quite a bit. It was a page turner though and kept my attention.

I have tried and tried with this book, put it down, pick it up, put it down again I do feel for the naivety of the main character (Fran), the "incident" is not surprising though, I know the area well and love Ely and the surrounding Fens but I really couldn't engage with the book or the description pf the Fens, the Fens are beautiful. The locals were a bit too "hick" (insular) for my liking, maybe the author is a City person now who has either forgotten her roots or doesn't actually have any. The detective work doesn't sit comfortably either, why on earth didn't they "dust" the whole property directly after the "incident"? and why keep the details of the murder from Fran? I will keep trying but feel it's not for me, which is a shame. I'm only writing this review now because I feel I owe you an explanation for my time lapse! So, I will continue to read the remainder of the book (I'm 2/3rds through) because I've never given up on a book before and am prepared to be surprised by a really unexpected twist in the story and will update this review when I finish the book.

Unfortunately I was unable to download and Review this book. I have thus given this an impartial 3 star rating for this book review.

How well do you know anyone, especially your spouse - that's the question that this book poses, and what a haunting question. The Loving Husband has had mixed reviews, and I get it - I really enjoyed elements of this one, especially the start, but it dragged a bit in the middle before reaching its climax. It was a little predictable in places too, and really depressing!

I'm all for these domestic thrillers - they have all the nastiness of a good ol' thriller and they're creepily close to home - but this one isn't a new favourite.

Hmm. Fran and Nathan. Why did it take me so long to review this? Because It took me ages to read it. Some bits got me gripped, other parts I went and did the ironing. Lot's of promise, not all fulfilled

The Loving Husband is an interesting idea with a promising whodunnit but ultimately it fell flat for me because of the narrative voice and the disjointed plot. There were several situations that arose in the novel that also made little logical sense. One of the most glaring ones, for me, was that although Nathan was working undercover for the police, when he was murdered, instead of assigning a detective who knew that he was undercover and who would investigate the people in the world he was infiltrating, the police instead assigned two inept policemen who clearly didn't know the full scope of the matter and who were wasting time on Fran when it was clear there were plenty of other people out there with a stronger motive for killing Nathan. Towards the end it is implied that they knew that Nathan worked for the police, but this made no sense given that their entire interrogations thus far centred on Fran knowing little of her husband's day-to-day life - obviously if he's an undercover agent for them, he's going to keep her in the dark.
There were many inconsistencies and illogical pieces of the puzzle like this one. It's a story you want to be interested in, but end up frustrated with and losing patience with.

Unfortunately in a crowded market, The Loving Husband doesn't really stand out - I don't feel it offers anything new, and while this domestic thriller is an interesting story, there's not enough to it for it to be a great one.
Fran was an unappealing, unengaging character; the police were ridiculously overblown in their suspicious nature; and the writing style was at times jarring.

One wintry night Fran Hall wakes up to find her husband absent and, after a frantic search, finds him dead in a ditch. As the police delve deeper into the case and Fran becomes the prime suspect, dark secrets are revealed. Just what was her husband keeping hidden about his life and is Fran hiding something herself? Nothing is as it seems!
This was quite an intriguing psychological thriller, even though I wasn't particularly enamoured of the writing style. It seemed a little disjointed but I wondered whether it was trying to depict the main character's agitated state of mind. Nevertheless, I found it a compelling mystery. I was eager to read on to find out how it ended. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep me on my toes and a fair few dysfunctional characters to keep me interested. I was never sure who the killer was until the final reveal.
This is the first book I have read by Christobel Kent and I enjoyed it enough to want to read another one!
3.5*

CWA - The Loving Husband
You'd trust him with your life, wouldn't you...?
by Christobel Kent
Well well well, what a read that turned out to be.
Great storyline,
Will keep you awake until you finish it.
Fran Hall and her husband Nathan have moved with their two children to a farmhouse on the edge of the Fens - a chance to get away from London and have a fresh start.
But when Fran wakes one night to find Nathan gone, she makes a devastating discovery. As questions about her husband and her relationships start to mount, Fran's life begins to spiral out of control.
What is she hiding from the police about her marriage, and does she really know the man she shared her bed with?

This took me a long time to get around to reading.
I wish I had not bothered.
The characters were poor and the story line was really non existent.

I found reading this a bit slow and not as much suspense as I like in a book but. I didn't really connect with the main character Fran, although I had to finish the book as wanted to know what happened at the end, I would probably give the author another go

Unfortunately, I struggled a bit with this book. The story just didn't seem to progress. Just my opinion and it could be that other readers will like this style of writing.
