An unflinching and non sensationalized account of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis.

Boyle tells the story with incredible attention to detail, from the explanation of the warships and submarines to the tactical considerations of both the Americans and Japanese.

The account is wholly unemotional, although much of the information, such as the series of coincidences which led to the sinking of the Indianapolis, to the terrible reasons rescue was delayed, and later both the dropping of Little Boy on Hiroshima and the persecution of the Indianapolis's Captain, is completely heartbreaking.

Perhaps the best part about this book is that it does not dwell upon the circumstances of the terrifying shark attacks, whether on those living or dead, but instead focuses on rebelling the entire story, so that justice and respect can truly be given for all those involved.
