A Cornish Christmas by Lily Graham

A Cornish Christmas is a lovely and very emotional story, which focuses pretty heavily on the grief that comes with losing a parent. That's such a hard subject to read about, so go into the story with this in mind. It's not what I would call light Christmas reading. The story is balanced out with some happy moments as well, and I enjoyed my time in Cloudsea. It's not overly Christmasy, so it's definitely the kind of story that can be read at any time in the year. I love the residents of this Cornish village, and had fun learning their words and customs.

Considering this book has got Christmas in the title i did not feel it was very Christmassy at all.

A cosy book with the usual romance and a cast of characters that are delightful.

I didn't really think this book was very Christmasy at all which was a disappointment, I enjoyed the story and was an entertaining read.

A moving tale of hope, familial relationships and a sprinkle of Christmas magic. I really thought this was going to be a fluff book. No real plot, a predictable story line, but it wasn't like that at all. Pleasantly surprised.

When I first started to read this book I did not think I was going to enjoy it because of the mysticism, but I must say it proved to be a really nice, sensitive story. I did enjoy in the end

4⭐️.
A Cornish Christmas by Lily Graham is a light enjoyable story that can be read any time of year. The protagonists, Stuart and his wife, Ivy, have moved to a small village in Cornwall to live a more quiet peaceful life than they had in London with the high stress of city living, work deadlines and an interfering mother-in-law.

I love handsome, funny Stuart who enjoys gardening, cooking, and trying new recipes (especially making jams and jellies from vegetables) and Ivy, illustrator and writer of children's stories, finally pregnant again after several miscarriages and the sweet loving relationship they have with each other.

I love the little seaside village where they live, and the relationships between many of the villagers. It reminds me of 'down home' where people watch out for each other and pull together and lend helping hands in times of need.

This is a story of love, joy, sorrow, hope, discovery, friendships, frustrations, secrets, tragedy, and new beginnings. It is the perfect book to read while cuddled up beside the fireside with your beverage of choice - hot chocolate, tea, coffee or glass of wine.

unfortunately could not get into this story. The beginning had me very interested when it came to the mother who had passed away. I thought it was nostalgic. But, I just couldn’t stay interested to read on. Sorry this one was just not for me.

An enjoyable read, although I must say not very Christmassy given the title. It has a bit more substance than the usual book of this type, in that the main character Ivy is still mourning the loss of her mother. This, together with the fact that she is finally pregnant after much heartache, leads to some magical happenings which affect both Ivy and her husband as they make their life in a new setting, the Cornish village of Cloudsea. It would benefit from proofreading as there were more than a few errors of grammar and punctuation.
Thank you to the publisher for a review copy.

Enjoyed reading this book, but there were a few niggles in there that didn't sit well with me. Nothing major, but enough to bother me a bit and I did look up to see if the author was American, as some of the wording led me to think she was.
I liked the element of magic with the postcard and the characters were very relatable. It wasn't hugely Christmassy, though.

A Cornish Christmas is a beautiful novel by Lily Graham, author of The Summer Escape. I love festive novels so couldn't turn down A Cornish Christmas. A heartwarming novel involving grief, secrets, love and a bit of Christmas magic, this is definitely a must-read for the festive season.

Fabulous feel good story, perfect for the holiday season. Exactly the kind of book I look for when I need something to take me away from the everyday stress of real life. A book I would recommend to anyone who loves stories with a Christmassy feel to them. A heartwarming 3.5 stars.

This is a lovely nostalgic Christmas story, Ivy and Stuart decide to leave the rat race and buy a cottage and small holding in Cornwall. Ivy was brought up there. The story is about their difficulties settling in Cornwall and how they make new friends and catch up with old friends. There are memories of Ivy's dead mother who seems to be present in spirit when needed.

A great story. Not really a Christmassy book which is expected from the title and I don't think the title is right for it. The story is intriguing and I loved the messages Ivy was getting from her mum and these messages were central to the story and would be a better interpreted in the title. It might make the book appeal to more readers.

I haven't rated or reviewed this book as I simply couldn't get into it. It started off well but the magical, mysterious part threw me and rather put me off. Not a bad book just not for me.
