This story was written in free verse and once again is a touching story by this author that is captivating but not preachy at the same time. It worderfully incorpates biblical views with the modern life of the main character.

When I received this book I didn't know what to expect. I had times when I just needed to step away and read something else. Dark Son's take you on a journey of two boys with issues about their father.

Overall, the story line was good but I felt the book had parts that were drawn out to make the book longer.

Dark Sons is a parallel novel of characters who are longing to stay connected to their fathers. The story is told in verse. We have Ishmael(the Biblical one) and Sam(from a modern time) who both struggle to understand the complexities of being first born and the fear of rejection from fathers who decide to take different paths in life that strain the bonds of father and son hood. I enjoyed this narrative because, even though short, was complete and I left away feeling that the characters had come to an understanding about the power of love, rejection, faith, and hope.
