Lizzie's at a low point in her life, her daughters have grown up and flown out of the nest and her husband Henry is only working and watching darts on TV. Life seems miserable until her new neighbor Marcus moves in the neighborhood. They start to spend more and more time together and Lizzie feels happy and loved again. Lizzie knows that sneaking behind her husband's back is not right, but she can't help herself. Lizzie's best friend Ann is trying to make her think before she acts, but no matter what Lizzie decides, she has her back. Marcus seems too good to be true and that's when the truth starts to come out and it might be too late to get her old and comfortable life back.
I have to admit, I did not expected the story to take this turn, when I read the blurb, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a lot deeper and thought provoking than a usual sweet Christmassy story, but that's what made this story so special. I was intrigued until the last pages of the book. It was a great story about love, friendship, betrayal and family ties.
Horrible book. I'm glad I didn't waste money on this but wish I hadn't wasted my time.
Loved this book!
I've recently avoided 'girly' books because they became very similar to one another. However this one looked appealing and I'm very pleased that I gave it a chance!
I laughed aloud more than once, the gypsy dress incident in particular left me chuckling away to myself.
