Slater is a good story teller and will keep you interested. However, Safe with Me just didn’t grab me like I was hoping it would.
It was suspenseful but I felt not as thrilling as it could of been.

I received a digital copy of this novel from NetGalley.
I have discovered most of my new favorite writers on NetGalley. K.L Slater is one of them. Her novels are filled with suspense and always keep me guessing until the end. I always end up talking about these books at work or with friends. "Safe with Me" is another example of an amazing read; and totally worth it!

Safe With Me by K.L Slater is a fantastic psychological thriller that I couldn't put down, it was so gripping, I had no idea what would happen next.
The main character, Anna, seems completely deranged and psychotic. You know that something terrible has happened to her thirteen years ago and then when she witnesses an accident, everything in her life starts to spiral out of control once more. She becomes more unhinged as the story unfolds, it makes you consider...is she really an innocent party as you are made to think.
She isn't an overly likeable character either but I don’t think she is supposed to be. I guess her erratic behaviour is supposed to make us question and be sceptical of her and her behaviour. As time goes on we see her behaviour isn't improving anything for her either.
The chapters are kept short and time slip to and from the past and the present day so we get the whole picture. A story full of twists and turns I couldn't put down. This is classic K.L Slater a brilliant book and highly recommended.

I could read this author forever...

I’ll admit, if this woman was a client of mine, we’d have a lot of work to do. She was certainly an interesting character with a lot of psychological layers that I enjoyed watching unfold.

This was soooo close to being a 5 from me, I think the twist needed to be a touch more... twister.

Thank you so much for my ARC!!!!

I feel like this was a slow burn type of thriller, that really only had me turning the pages in the last 100 pages or so. There was a lot of good setup with a flip between the past and the present that had me guessing until the very end what was going to happen. Overall, a good book, but not my favorite thriller.

Anna has a comfortable yet quiet life. She has no family or friends. She lives with her cat, Albert in a house that has been paid off since the death of her family and spends her days delivering mail.
One day, she witnesses an accident and becomes saviour to the man, Liam, on the motorbike, inserting herself in his life, but the sight of the driver sends Anna back to a place she doesn’t want to remember and she becomes a bit unhinged.
Soon, she thrusts herself into Liam’s life. She was there to see the accident; she held his hand while waiting for the ambulance and visited him relentlessly in the hospital. She believes the accident was meant to happen; that she and Liam should be together. But why does his grandmother Ivy, try to block all her helpful gestures? Ivy isn’t well herself and Liam needs someone to take care of him. Her life becomes a little chaotic as she spends time caring for Liam, while the struggle keeping up with her job consumes her. And then, there’s the other driver, Amanda, who is despised by Anna and has secrets of her own.
This book was one I wanted to fly through to get to the end and have all the answers. Many scenarios played out in my head as I tried to put all the pieces together.
Anna, was such a sad and pathetic character but I couldn’t help but be endeared to her. She has had a sad life and really had nothing much going for her but I don’t know that she actually realized it as that was really all she knew. She wanted someone so badly and could see nothing wrong in her actions of smothering Liam and making decisions on his behalf. She did almost everything wrong including the handling of her job but as a reader, I couldn’t dislike her and wanting to protect her. We are all somewhat a product of our past and our upbringing and Anna’s fate was decided long ago. I found myself actually cringing at things she was doing, knowing it was not going to have good results and actually at times, I verbally spoke with dismay, I was that much invested in this book.
This is the fifth book I have read of K. L. Slater. The first one I read of hers was “Blink” courtesy of Net Galley, and with that, I was hooked on Slater’s books. Not as well known yet as she should be, her books are engrossing and suspenseful and the ones I haven’t yet read have been downloaded on my ereader.
Thank you to net galley and the publisher for the privilege of reading this book by sending me a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

It was a good concept but fell flat. I just kept waiting for more and it never came. In a genre that is so saturated right now, I believe you really have to stand out.

Where do I even begin with this?

From what I read, a lot of this just didn't make sense, and I just got the major ugh feeling. I can handle creepy, which is what Anna was throughout the whole thing. I love creepy, but it's like Anna was just weird. I didn't like her at all. The other characters were not much better either. They all just fell really flat. There's nothing really wrong with Liam, as of the page I'm at, and I feel like he's part of the plot twist.

I am confused, yet I am intrigued about the plot twist. I want to know what happens, but not enough to keep reading. To me, there wasn't much of a thriller aspect. I would say it's more of a dull suspense. But it wasn't enough to keep me turning pages or for me to be on the edge of my seat. The writing was nothing spectacular and overall, I think I just became uninterested.

This ended up being a DNF for me.

As the other books by this author, Safe With Me is a gripping phycological thriller that grabs from the first page and doesn't let go.

After I finished this book I honestly don't know if I enjoyed it or not. It started off well but found it just plodded on then until the end. I kept waiting for something exciting to happen and was expecting a massive twist but sadly that never came. It bugged me the iPhone mentioned 13 years ago as there was no iPhones at that time . Just an ok read

Anna hasn't had the best up-bringing with no family alive and no real friends, expect for her next door neighbour, she lives day to day in her own company. Going to work and then coming home has been her routine, that is until she witnesses a car accident. Seeing someone from her past, throws her as she can't believe that she has the chance to seek the revenge she never through she would.
So Anna comes up with a plan to get close to Liam, the person who got hurt in the accident so she can find out more about Carla who caused the accident. The more Anna sees Liam the more her plan starts to fail in more ways than one, so Anna decides to take it upon herself to find the evidence and stop Carla from hurting anyone else.
I was so intrigued by Safe With Me, it jumped back and for from the present time to Anna's childhood, this is a big part of the story and it has made Anna the person she is today. There were so many greatly developed characters in the story, each one different from the next and unique in their own way. Reading about their lives and getting to know them throughout the book was great as you got to see every side of them, good and bad.
Safe With Me is a fantastically written book that is one of the best thriller mysteries I have read this year by far! It is one of those books that kept me guessing until the very end, just when I thought I had figured out the characters and the story, it threw me through a loop with a shock twist and turn I was never expecting. I can recommend everyone should read this amazing book, as they will not regret it!
Three Words
Thrilling, Unexpected and Phenomenal.

This was a very cleverly written book that has stuck with me long after reading. I'm still unsure if I like the main character or not and that, for me, is a sign of a really good storyline.

Fun fact: I started this book 11 months ago and just now managed to finish it! The only other book that has ever taken me that long to get back to was Dan Brown's Angels & Demons.
The big difference is: in the end, I hated the latter but, surprisingly, really, really enjoyed this one.

In my defense, it was hard to like any of the characters in the beginning, most of all Anna herself. She was such a weirdo with utterly incomprehensible thought processes that I just couldn't and didn't want to follow. But I pushed through her rambling inner monologues and now, I couldn't be more happy about that.
So while I was reading and trying my best not to be bored, the strangest thing happened: Anna started to get to me. Her reasoning and justification of her psycho stalker actions oddly made sense to me and I found myself feeling and rooting for her. I disliked whom she disliked, I wanted her to do what she was doing, and I was scared for her when it became obvious that someone wanted to cause her harm. And I didn't feel bad about it because I needed Anna to succeed and get back on track.

It was equally harsh and fascinating to witness her hatred for the women who she blames for her brother's death turn into an all-consuming obsession, and Anna gradually losing not only control over her life and the routines she's fought so hard to establish, but also her grasp on reality.

The story is told from various POVs, including flashbacks that, little by little, reveal Anna and Carla's traumatic pasts and how they're linked to each other.

Safe with me definitely deserves its label as a psychological thriller. It's a classic slow-burner, with only little action but all the more atmosphere, that had me guessing from start to finish. I had to restrain myself from jumping to the last chapter to find out what was going on, and that is always a good sign when it comes to me and thrillers.

Absolutely recommended.

The tag line got me from the start - "I know what you did that day" it brought back memories of that film I know what you did last Summer, so I was intrigued to find out what this book was like. It didn't disappoint. Full of head twisting stuff that keeps you awake at night. Fantastically written.

I was a little disappointed in this one. I loved Blink and this one just did not do it for me. The characters in this book were not very likable. I especially hated Anna. It was so obnoxious being inside her head. Clearly, she wasn’t alright. I could never root for her or support her decisions because we know so little about her and her past. She had no right to insert herself into the Bradbury’s lives, and her intrusiveness played on my nerves. Even though there was some twists in the book the plot moved too slowly for me. The last third of the book was altogether more gripping, meaning I could even forget most of what had previously bothered me about the writing. Even though not all the questions were answered by the time the book concluded, it was a good story. I just love my suspense and love it going throughout the book and not just the ending.

Anna witnesses a car crash caused by the woman who destroyed her life 13 years ago. She is determined to get the woman back for all the pain and suffering she has caused and does so by befriending the victim of the crash. The story is told from 3 perspectives. Anna from present day, Anna's neighbour, Mrs. Peat, also from present day and Carla from 13 years ago.

What did I like about the book?
I loved all the twist and turns in this boom and because the main chart is completely off the wall you are never really sure which way the story will go. I love nothing more in a book then something that will shock me and make me go hmmm.

I will be reading more by this author. I did love her book Blink and she has a new one coming out.
