A sweet story and great for the winter season. I enjoy reading Holly Martin during cozy seasons and will continue to do so.
A great book to snuggle up on the sofa to read on a cosy winters day.
Full of romance and emotion
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy for an honest review
Delightful Christmas themed romance, i thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was transported to snowy vistas, log cabins & the fairy dancers, what more could you want as a backdrop for a love story. Great characters you pulled into the story your there with them so easy to rear
I'm going to jump straight into the next book in the series so I can continue this wonderful series I recommend to you all
This is book #2 in ‘A Town Called Christmas’ series! It can be read as a standalone, but it may contain spoilers from the first book in the series if you read them the wrong way round! We return to Juniper Island to pick up the storyline straight from the end of the book #1 Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky. This book however focusses primarily on Neve, the sister of the main character Gabe in the previous book. Without giving away too many spoilers, Neve is shocked when her ex-boyfriend and movie megastar Oakley Rey turns up just before Christmas. She has a big secret to share with him, but it’s safe to say she makes a bit of a mess of it and suffers the repercussions of it throughout the book!
We also focus on some of the other characters and their potential relationships in this book. Will Luke put his past to one side and find love again, and will the new assistant manager, Adam find love in the most unusual of circumstances? Of course, you’ll need to read the book to find out but I think it’s safe to say this book is filled with lots of loveliness, drama and of course plenty of obligatory sex scenes which I’ve come to expect from this author!!
It took me a while to warm to Neve in the previous book, but I loved her in this one! Oakley Rey’s appearance certainly takes her by surprise, but it was great how down to earth he was and completely unaware of all the admiring stares and open mouths as he walked around the island. I also loved Oakley’s character and I did feel quite sorry for him at times though throughout the book as he obviously loved Neve so much. On paper, they seemed a great couple, but in reality, they never quite seemed to get anything right between them and I felt like I needed to knock their heads together to get them to see sense!
As with the previous book in the series, this book is seriously Christmassy taking us through Christmas Day and up to New Year! It has a well timed epilogue at the end of the book, one year on, tying up all the loose ends, which I have to admit did disappoint me a little as I would have loved another book in the series to carry on the wonderfulness that both of these books gave! The storyline is filled with lots of lovely love, plenty of laughs and some heart-warming and tender moments! All the different characters played their perfect parts in a series which I thought was absolutely delightful. If you think reading a Christmas book in June is wrong, then think again! This was another fabulous read by an equally fabulous author!! I could read these books every day of the year!! Highly recommended!
Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
Neve and Oakley's romance. This book starts right at the end of book 1, and continues onward. Would not be necessary to read the first book, of Neve's brother's romance, but it does help a bit. A quick and easy holiday romance that while typical of the genre is still fun to read. Would recommend.
I received this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. This book is the perfect holiday novel for those who love Hallmark channel type shows.
Lovley Christmas story to read on winters really enjoyed
This is Book 2 in the series A Town Called Christmas. The minute I started reading I was taken back to the town and it was as though I had never left. Everything between Neve and Oakley is so beautiful and not predictable! You can read this book without having read Book 1 but I would recommend reading it first to get the character backgrounds. I have fallen in love with Holly Martin's writing and would definitely recommend her books!
This book started exactly where the last book left. I really enjoy reading Holly Martin and she has left it that she could write another one in this series. I hope she does! I really enjoyed all of the characters and glad that new ones were introduced. She brought the town and the hotel to life with her descriptions and you could really picture being there with them.
Thank you for letting me read and review this book, I do hope there is another one in this series to come.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas book despite finally getting around to reading it in March! The path of Neve and Oakley’s romance hasn’t run smoothly but maybe they will get one more chance. She broke off their relationship in the belief she was holding back his Hollywood career. Oakley comes to the Scottish island where she’s managing a hotel to win her back but she’s got a secret to keep. The stunning setting and wide cast of interesting characters all helped to flesh out the story and I’d definitely like to read more by this author.
I absolutely love Holly Martin and have read all of her books, I thoroughly enjoyed book one of the 'a town called christmas' series and looked forward to book two and it didn't disappoint! I loved the second book, it picked up where the fist one left off and all the characters we loved were back! I loved Neve and Oakley, they were fab and I'm so glad they did get married and found out in the very last pages that she is pregnant again and to hear that Ivy is ready to pop brought a smile to my face, her and Adam deserve to be happy. And to finally read Pip and Gabe getting married finished the story off nicely. I wouldn't change any of it and I have absolutely no criticisms about the book, only that I didn't want to read it straight away, otherwise I would have been left with nothing!! I'm not entirely sure where Holly can now go with this series but there are plenty of characters to focus on but I do so very much hope there is a third book to this series! Thank you for letting me read and review this book. It has been a pleasure and I hope another one is in the pipeline!!
Juniper island is home to Neve Whitaker and her family. She manages the Stardust Lake hotel. Christmas time on the remote snow-covered island is truly magical.
But, her heart isn't in it this year. She's dreaming of Oakley Rey, as in Hollywood's hottest star, Oakley Ray. She chose to end their relationship but not before a huge surprise.
This book is the perfect Christmas storybook romance. The people of Juniper Island truly capture your heart.
Sequel to Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky, this book still has Holly Martin's trademark romance and lighthearted appeal with a fantastic setting but I didn't like this as much as the first. I did not like the whole charade Neve puts on to "save" Oakley. I hate when a character lies to another character for a plot device. Still enjoyed it overall but not as great as the first.
This book is the second in Holly Martin's 'A Town Called Christmas' series, and follows on from the first book Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky. I adored that book, and was so excited to read the second one, and find out more about these characters, and what secrets were going to be divulged here! In this book, we focus on two characters called Neve and Oakley. Neve is the sister of the main character from the first book, Gabe, so it was fun to see those familiar characters back again, and also find out much more about Neve and Oakley's own love story.
I loved Neve from the beginning of the book, and found her to be so likeable, and I wanted everything to work out for her so badly! Yes, I felt she made some bad decisions regarding her and Oakley's relationship, but I think her heart was in the right place regarding the decisions she did make. She couldn't seem to believe that a big Hollywood star like Oakley would want to settle down with her on a small remote island where she works in her brother's hotel, and I think we could all understand that that seems too good to be true! But Neve was such a lovely person, and I wished she had a little bit more faith in love, and the fact that Oakley clearly adored her.
I really do love a great romance, and Holly Martin certainly delivers on this count within this book. Oakley is everything Neve could dream of in a man, and was certainly great to read about, he seemed pretty much perfect! A successful actor, handsome, kind, generous... there was barely anything bad about this man at all. For all the mistakes he does make, he does so because he's been lead to believe other things, and I felt sorry for him in that regard, he didn't have an easy time of it from Neve! But their love story is just wonderful, and made me feel so warm and happy inside, I loved everything about it.
As well as the fairytale romance between Neve and Oakley, there's another little side story involving a couple of the minor characters, Ivy and Adam. This was completely charming, and had me sucked in too, it seems like Juniper Island is the place to go if you want to find love! As in the first book, the setting is utterly perfect. I love Martin's descriptions of the whole island, from the animals, to the cabins and the snow - it all sounds utterly idyllic and you can see why everyone who ends up on the island wants to stay, it sounds like paradise, especially at Christmas time!
For me, this was one of my favourite reads of the festive season, and I really cannot wait for Holly Martin's next books. I hope this isn't the last we see in the Town Called Christmas series, because I would love catch up with Gabe, Piper, Neve, Oakley and more again at some future date, even if it isn't necessarily at Christmas. The writing in this is so warm, it draws you in and makes you want to keep reading to find out how this wonderful love story is going to end. Needless to say I was left with a huge smile on my face, and I had loved every page. A wonderful book, I can't recommend it enough!
Christmas under a Starlit Sky is a charming story filled with lots of love, laughs, drama and chaos. Although quite entertaining, it's sad that Neve continued to let her head get in her way of being happy in the present and letting the past scare her into not enjoying the potential future. On top of getting stuck in her head, Neve has quite a secret that she's been keeping under wraps. Although it's always a bad idea to lie (especially to those you care about), it’s somewhat understandable that she's trying her best to keep this secret to herself, but it ends up creating so much chaos and havoc. Another charming read from Holly Martin.
I loved this story, especially as it was connected to under a Cranberry sky. I loved being able to read the back story of other characters and see how their story worked out.
I couldn’t put the book down. It made me fizz with festiveness. I wasn’t sure if it would turn out how I thought and I liked that it may not be predictable.
I was torn between not wanting it to finish and wanting to get to the end so I could see how things worked out.
This book will definitely get you in the festive mood.
Once again Holly Martin did not disappoint. Great story full of love, friendships, festivities.
Christmas Under a Starlit Sky by Holly Martin is the second book in the A Town Called Christmas series and is every bit as wonderful as the first one. Neve Whitaker has been working to help open her brother Gabe’s new hotel on Juniper Island off the coast of Scotland. But Neve is not happy. She has broken off her relationship with actor Oakley Rey rather than hold back his career. His managing mother hasn’t helped matters either with her hurtful remarks that have caused Neve to doubt herself. Only now there is much more at stake.
Oakley arrives on the island unexpectedly to fight to get Neve back but misunderstandings block their way, Can they work through their problems as the New Year approaches? Can they find a way for Neve to be a part of Oakley’s busy acting career? What follows is an adorable, magical love story perfect for a cold winter night.
Holly Martin’s writing again provides the reader with beautiful descriptions of Jupiter Island. Her many characters all have stories of their own and seem to become the reader’s friends also. Again, I hope that Holly can find more stories on Juniper Island and can continue this magical series. I will certainly look for other books by Holly Martin.
I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and Bookouture with no obligation to review it. This is my honest review after reading
