This book brought a smile to my face as it was a rollicking good read though there were moments here and there of going 'really'. Jen Barker has spent a considerable amount of her adult life dedicating herself to her relationship with her boyfriend and she is sure that this is about to pay off in the form of a marriage proposal. She is quite shocked when she finds out that he wants out of the relationship.

This is where it takes an unusual turn as some time later, Jen finds herself on the way to Switzerland with her much younger half sister and her friends to work in a ski resort. These characters were good fun and there were certainly plenty of entertaining mishaps. It doesn't take long for Jen to bump, literally, into an interesting man, Jon Zutter, a ski instructor and start building a new relationship. I wasn't completely sold on this relationship and there were a few times when it just felt like there were too many pieces being forced together with this part of the story.

I really enjoyed Jen and her sister's relationship - there quite a few laugh out loud moments. I just didn't quite believe the connection between Jen and Jon as much which took away for the overall story for me. However overall it was a fun book which may certainly appeal to readers of the romance genre.

I was really excited when I found out Sue Watson would be bringing out another new festive book in time for Christmas with publishers Bookouture. I loved the cover straight away and was really looking forward to reading the book. As usual, the book has all of Sue's heart, warmth and festive spirit and was a fun read. I love knowing that when I pick up one of Sue's books I'm going to get a great read, and she certainly didn't let me down with this book!

Jen finds herself suddenly single in the run up to Christmas and decides it is time to do something about it. When her younger sister Jody offers her the chance to go to Switzerland with her for a working holiday, Jen decides to take the opportunity with both hands and heads off with her sister and her friends, all much younger than she is. While there, she loves her job at the local café, and bumps into skiing instructor Jon, who has a few secrets of his own hidden away. Will Jen be able to allow herself to fall in love, or will Jon's secrets stop things before they have even begun?

I haven't ever read any books set in Switzerland, but I am so pleased that this one was! After reading it, I googled the skiing resorts dotted around and they look so amazing, especially at Christmas! I could definitely understand why Jen thought it would be a good idea to go out there and live for a while, it sounds cold but looks utterly stunning! Make sure you google it yourself! Watson's descriptions of the resorts, chalets, café's, everything are beautiful and bring the whole thing to life in your mind. I could imagine it so clearly, it was so enjoyable.

Jen herself is an intriguing character. In her 40's and single again, she is sure she has missed the boat on lots of things, but most of all becoming a mother. I enjoyed reading about the close relationship she shared with her sister Jody, which wasn't borne out of the best thing. Jen's father left her mother and started a new family, resulting in the birth of Jody, and while the initial years between the pair weren't good, as adults they've come to accept each other and realise it was neither girl's fault that Jen's parents relationship failed. It's very typical of lots of relationships and I applaud Watson for tackling an issue like this in this story.

Many women reading this will be able to sympathise with Jen and her situation, sure that she has left it too late to settle down and start a family. I felt sorry for her at first, but as she began to enjoy her time in Switzerland and make new friends, especially ski instructor Jon, I was hopeful that she would find her own alternative happy ending. There were quite a few twists and turns along the way, especially as Jon's secrets came to light, but I did feel sorry for him too. However, I did like how the pair dealt with it in adult ways, especially Jen, and the last third of the book was good to read about, albeit awkward in parts!

This was a very enjoyable read from Sue Watson again, full of festive cheer, hope, love and was a lot of fun to read. The setting was fabulous, definitely my favourite part about the whole book, and has certainly made me want to visit Switzerland at Christmastime, even if, like Jen, I haven't got a clue how to ski and I'm not sure if I really want to! I hope there will be more from Sue coming in the near future, I love her stories and they always leave me with a smile on my face. But probably my most favourite thing about them is that they feel real - like they could happen to any normal person, that they could happen to you - that we all might have a happy ending out there somewhere.

What a lovely book! I absolutely loved it! I read quite a lot of the books from Sue Watson. Until now, I could say that I liked Sue Watson's books but this time I can easily says that I LOVED it! It's by far her best book in my opinion.
And I loved that the settings of the book is the mountains of Switzerland - it's just so magical around Christmas time!
I also liked the main character Jen and the beautiful relationship she has with her sister...
Also if you are bored of stories of cakes and café, don't worry about this. Café and cakes are very little mentioned in this book - it's absolutely not the most important part.
I really enjoyed this book and totally recommend it!

Jen's dreams are shattered, when her long-term boyfriend dumps her instead of proposing, but only a year later her life is about to change for better. Her younger sister ask her to go to the Swiss Alps with her and a few other friends for working holiday. She's hesitant at first, but she couldn't have made a better decision than agreeing to go. Away from home let's Jen to discover herself and what she actually wants, as well as bond with her sister, because their past hasn't been very smooth. What would a trip to abroad be worth without a handsome man in the picture? Jen meets a ski instructor and there's an instant attaraction, but they take things easy as they both have their own reasons to not rush into a new relationship. How will the Swiss Alps change Jen's life?

I absolutely adored the book, everything worked for me so well-the characters, the setting, the friendships and romance. There were so many funny moments, but it was also a thought provoking story at the same time. It's a great heartfelt and heart warming book that I definitely recommend to read.

My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers Bookouture, for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review. I gave this a 4 star or 8/10.

As Jen's life as she knows it takes a nose dive, the happy ever after that she was expecting with her current partner doesn't materialise. She decides to venture out into a world of new adventure with her younger sibling Jody, a working holiday in the Swiss Alps appears to be the cure all for the time being.

Enter stage left, hunky foreign ski instructor Jon. Can he be the answer to all her current problems?
But as we are all well aware love doesn't always run smoothly for any of us and life once again starts to spiral out of control for Jen. Can she get her happy ever after or not?

Well written, this story is a breath of fresh Swiss mountain air. Grab your hot chocolate and settle back somewhere comfy to be taken on an adventure with Jen and Jon.
