Am late in reviewing this novel!
This was excellent and kept me turning the pages. Love these kind of stories that have you sitting at the edge of one's seat. I shall be looking out for more novels by this author!
Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to have read this great read. This is the first book by Joy Ellis I've read, so I did not know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised and can't wait to read more by this author!
I would like to thank the author who wrote this awe inspiring book about a man's journey into a mind of a woman who he's never met.
This psychological thriller had me turning pages whilst it took me so time due to other commitments to read it. Never read this author before (but would read her other books). The title makes you think of 1 way the story will go and then as you carry on reading the book, it takes a turn and goes a different way.
The characters are really believable and make you feel as if you're on egg shells with the detectives and you even have some blackmailing in the storyline as well.
I have to say I really didn't know what to expect from this book, as this is the first one by Joy Ellis for me to read that isn't part of the Nikki Galena series, A series I have thoroughly enjoyed reading. And would recommend to any crime fan.
So this one I really wasn't sure what to expect, but it really is another fantastically written book by this talented author. I find If an author can get you wanting to read their book without you even reading the synopsis then that's pretty good going for them.
Joy Ellis has become one of those authors for me, and as soon as I saw this one on Netgalley I just had to request it. I am loving the speed at which JE seems to be getting her books out, and so far have loved everyone of the books.
I found this one to be a real page turner. I wanted to keep going and reading because I needed to know what happened.
Interesting getting to know new character, but I have to admit I was hoping for Nikki and Joe to pop up somewhere. lol.
I didn't feel a huge connection with the characters in this book, but now I know there is another book that follows this, I'm hoping to get to know them a little better.
We start off with (no spoilers, this was taken from the book description)
Twenty years ago: a farmer and his wife are cut to pieces by a ruthless serial killer.
Now: a woman is viciously stabbed to death in the upmarket kitchen of her beautiful house on the edge of the marshes.
Then a man called Daniel Kinder walks into Saltern police station and confesses to the murder.
So I don't need to go into the story line, just want to say that this book I really did enjoy and I'm looking forward to reading many more books by this very talented author.
I did think to start with that this was a standalone book, but it turns out it's not, so we can carry on getting to know these characters now in a 2nd book.
JACKMAN & EVANS
Book 1: THE MURDERER’S SON
Book 2: THEIR LOST DAUGHTERS
British crime is wonderful. I thought it was written very well and had plenty of twists and turns.
Very interesting but felt it was an overlong book. New officers and a somewhat convoluted story make this rather slow in parts, but generally it was ok.
A great stand alone Joy Ellis book. Every but as good as the rest of her books
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.
This was a pretty good who dunnit. I actually did not know who the murderer was until about 80% was read.
The characters were very likable and the storyline was good. I liked the play between all the cppers it actually felt like you were their with them.
Kudos to Joy Ellis. I look forward to reading more from her.
