I haven't read any other Tom Wood books so have no comparison, however the opening of the story was easy to fall into. The assassin known only as Victor is our main character and he has a job to do! Milan Rados is his target and he is a former commander in the army that escaped from his trial and he now needs to be tracked down and killed. Unfortunately Victor isn't the only person who wants him dead though. Victor is a pretty likeable character in all honesty. Even though he is a hired assassin he has hos own morals and is pretty amusing at times too. Even though I hadn't read previous books I managed this with no issues or no background. It is certainly entertaining and the writing was decent. For me this was a little outside what I would normally choose but ended up enjoying it.
