An epic historical saga, this story sweeps from the battlefield of Waterloo to the birth of the railways. It follows Daniel and Laurel, who meet at a country fair and, with the exchange of a lucky penny change their fates.

I enjoyed the story, especially the scenes that happen at famous events in the period. A lot happened in the book, it could have been cut down. I also enjoyed meeting all of the real life characters, like a 14 year old Princess Victoria.
