Not exactly what I was expecting, but not a bad read. I think it was just too long for it's subject, overly written. It should have been edited down. I think it would have made a better story. I imagine it will have found it's audience.

Oh, thank God, I finally finished reading this book! What a strange trip full of flowery, over descriptive, repetitive prose & sinister characters.

I would compare it with Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but that would be too kind. The Witches' Brew is like an obsession or a disease, which author purged onto the pages of this book, and it doesn't make you feel good in the end.

The main character is a wet fish of a man, a writer who gets ordered around by psychotic, tripping out of their mind women: Jo Jo, a gorgeous and vicious virginal strip artist; Mitzi, a 40+ wannabe divorcee and subsequent black widow; and Kinky Katrina, a dominatrix and a matriarch of local bikers' club.

What starts as a simple deal where the author acts as a bodyguard/fiance of Jo Jo during her performances for a cut in takings & signs a contract with Mitzi for 50% of the profits in his new book in exchange for her financial support for a year, quickly evolves and spirals out of control. Along with Katrina, these two create more and more get rich quick schemes, forcing the author to participate, and he just meekly goes with the flow.

Paul Tarrant is a good writer, which is why I decided to finish this book, but it was a struggle all the way, mostly because there are no likeable characters here. They are always slightly off, just a little bit too much for the reader.

It's really hard to describe what to expect, which is why you should download the sample and decide for yourself if you like this type of writing style. But personally, it wasn't for me. Not recommended.

The witch's Brew By Paul Tarrant is a erotica read.
Welcome to The Witches' Brew. An infamous subterranean dive in the seediest part of town. Haunt of three alluring Femme Fatales. The Exotic Jo Jo - A spellbindingly beautiful and voluptuous Stripper and High Priestess of sensuous Tantric Sex. Kinky Katrina - A statuesque, leather clad, whip-wielding Dominatrix and Matriarch of a Hell's Angels Chapter, with a reputation so terrifying that even demons tremble at the mention of her name. And Frisky Mitzy - A wealthy, petite, elfin-featured, sexually rapacious middle-aged Cougar, cutting loose from the wreckage of her failing marriage for a walk on the wild-side.
Forming an alliance as the sinister 'Sisters of the Night', and invoking dark powers from the occult, these vivacious, dominant and ruthlessly ambitious Vamps conjure up a plot to wrest the very lucrative Witches' Brew nightclub from the menacing gangster who owns it; and exert control over all the pimps, madams, hookers, pushers and racketeers who wheel and deal in this cauldron of erotic dreams and psychedelic nightmares. A high-stakes plot, driven by the increasingly erotic ploys and murderous intrigues of the 'Sisters of the Night' that culminates in a violent and explosive climax with an unexpected twist in the tail.
This was a really enjoyable read with great characters. Really surprised with this one. 5*. Highly recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.
