I enjoy watching doctor TV shows like The Good Doctor, House, and so on, so thought I would enjoy books with stories with hospital settings too. However, after having gone through four of such books recently, I have to say they are not for me (except for "I've seen the end of you" which I liked). I just find myself skipping through passage after passage.

Dr Lahoud does sound like an uncle telling you stories from days of old, though.

Thank you Netgalley and Troubador Publishing Ltd for the review copy. Sorry this is late, I am finally trying to catch up!

This has the potential to be a great book. However, it is totally let down by the arrogant, chauvinistic author that totally resembles the type of person he is trying to shun. This is an example of what is totally wrong with the health service - sexual harassment carried out by the author, a self-centred ego warrior who does as he pleases, both at work and in his family like. If you want to read how one surgeon elevates himself to god-like status, then do read this. Otherwise, burn/delete.

I know it may be corny or cliche to think that this book is for lovers of Grey's Anatomy and ER, but it's true. Similar to the life of doctors on these shows, this books provides an "inside look" as a world/life we're all curious about.

I had written a long review on this, straightway I’m just going to say 0/5 avoid. If you like to know more read on but note I refuse to sugarcoat a disgrace of a book. I wasn't particularly enjoying it as it was sexist anyway but then I came to this line:

"The reconstructed female organ looked like a thing from an extra-terrestrial alien! No wonder, a couple of weeks later, the poor patient ended his life by jumping out of the hospital window after his boyfriend walked out on him!"

Taken straight from the book, from a DOCTOR. Nope. What a disgraceful matter to discuss a transgender patient. The author can’t even get the gender right! However that’s the least of my concerns, but right now I'm too angry to go any further into it.

I would like to start off by saying how exceptional this book was to read, not only was it entertaining but educational as well. I loved how well detailed each new medical case was that the main character came across. It goes to prove you never know what is going to happen next. The book kept me wanting to see where the doctor was going to be heading next in his journey. It was well written in the state of medical terms and the proper use for them as well. I would greatly recommend this book to anyone who is halfway interested in the medical field. I also would like to read the next book this author writes!
