I requested this several years ago and I don't think it's a book for me anymore. So I will not be reviewing at this time, but if I do read it, I will update this review. Thank you for the opportunity.
I loved this book! It was a refreshing take on an old romantic cliche! It made me laugh, made me feel greatly for the characters and I enjoyed reading it the whole time.
This book was really interesting. I look forward to reading more from this author!
Adorable read about finding true love the second time around.
This story was just plain fun- I loved the four Elvis's & Viola. Ellie & Connor were high school sweethearts who broke each others hearts. They reconnect years later in Las Vegas (with a little help from Connor's Grandma Viola)
The story that ensues is a sweet & entertaining story.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Great read. Characters are relatable which sometimes is hard to find. I like the fact that the relationship between the two main characters started back in high school. I also enjoyed the fact that everything doesn't work out right away, that they have to learn to make things work.
Lately, I’ve been trying to get into the whole married by mistake/love in Vegas stories. To this date, I’ve only read one of those stories that I have truly loved. I saw Married by Midnight on Net Galley and loved the blurb! Exactly what I was looking for and Gerri Russell is a new author to me so I thought I’d give it a try.
Ellie Hawthorne is in Vegas trying to revive her failing event planning career. One to many tequilas later she wakes up in bed with some strange man. Actually, it turns out to be someone she knows very well, her high school ex-boyfriend Connor Grayson. To top it all off, they were married at an Elvis wedding chapel.
Connor Grayson is just as confused as Ellie when he wakes up. However, things take a quick change when he receives a phone call that his grandmother is in the hospital. Connor’s grandmother has a dying wish to see her grandson married. Reality is, even though neither of them remembers, Ellie and Connor are married. Connor asks Ellie to keep up the ruse and stay married just until his grandmother leaves the hospital.
The story was great right up until that point. Once the meddling grandmother is brought in and the four Elvis impersonators, I lost interest. If it would have continued with two people falling back in love with each other and the grandmother would have not been butting in, I think the story would have been different for me. I was really put off that these two very intelligent human beings NEVER put two and two together to figure out that someone was trying to force them to be together. And the Elvis impersonators? The author totally lost me on that one.
The one thing I did enjoy was the little twist at the end. That was a surprise and I never saw it coming. All and all, I enjoyed the beginning and the end of this book but feel the storyline should have gone differently.
This was such a great book! I loved Ellie! This book had me laughing at loud at times and I really couldn't put it down. So funny and sweet! I can't wait to read more by this author!
DNF at 35%.
I L.O.V.E. a married by mistake story so when I saw this on NetGalley and read the blurb, look at the cover! It screamed read me.
The start is a little like that Cameron Diaz classic film What Happens in Vegas, Elle Hawthorne wakes up in a Vegas hotel room after one too many tequilas to find she is in bed with her high school boyfriend, the one who broke her heart. Not only that but she has a shiny gold ring on her finger.
Connor Grayson is equally as shocked as Elle, but when his beloved grandmother is in hospital and bemoaning that she will die before her favourite grandson gets married he asks Elle to continue their deception for just a little longer.
So that's the book I wanted to read. Unfortunately there was also a quartet of elderly Elvis impersonators (who happened to be friends with Connor's grandmother) and Connor's grandmother was probably the character who led me to create the "irritating seniors" tag for my Goodreads books!
If you like books about hapless couples being led around by the nose by opinionated and scheming senior citizens then I think you will love this - it wasn't what I wanted.
I really enjoyed this book, I think Viola and the 4 Elvis's were the best part. I really enjoyed how they worked together to keep Ellie and Connor together. This book is entertaining and easy to read.
Connor goes to Vegas in hopes of funding his self-driving car and party planner Ellie is trying to get some business by attending a conference. Although the two had a past since they once dated they never thought they would wind up married, but with the help of four Elvis impersonators that is exactly what happened.
This book was quite funny and had me laughing out loud. A great read and I would definitely recommend it.
