A slow thriller of a read, it does not read quick but reads well
Thank you Netgalley for a copy for an honest review
Omg......... this book was amazing I flew threw the pages with Olympic speed I was hooked from the very first page. I found it full of twists and turns threw out and it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way threw I would defiantly recommend this book if you like a good book to keep you reading threw the night hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did
I seem to be having a binge on Lucy Dawson books at the moment.
I’ve one left to read.
I liked this one well enough, it started off with a whooper of a plot that kept my interest. However, the aura of how this woman is isn’t any means unique.
The saga of “can’t remember anything”. It seems to be used over and over again to make a story. Each story different and some better weaved than others.
This one was a better woven story I’m glad to say.
It lost its peak for me in the middle but soon recovered its moments so, all in all I liked it.
Another troop was a “mother exhausted looking after her child” then she sort of gets muddled.
So we need to learn what’s what, whose doing what and why.
Just not unique enough for me to cheer it on.
Liked it, didn’t love it.
Another excellent read by this talented author, I was hooked from the start and felt at times I was on a rollercoaster ride there was so managed twists and turns.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
Everything you told me by Lucy Dawson.
You went to bed at home, just like every other night.
You woke up in the back of a taxi, over 250 miles away.
You have no idea how you got there and no memory of the last ten hours.
You have no phone, no money; just a suicide note in your coat pocket, in your own writing.
You know you weren’t planning to kill yourself.
Your family and friends think you are lying.
Someone knows exactly what happened to you.
But they’re not telling…
A shocker of a read with twist after twist. I had my theory of who it was but I was partly right. There is so many characters lying that you don't know who is telling the truth. The ending is shocking. 4*.
Love this book. It had me on edge throughout. This author and her books just keep on getting better. She has a good storyline, her characters are interesting and will keep you interested. She is such a talented author, you can't help loving her books.
Ok but a little slow going
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.
The plot of the book is original and interesting and was full of drama and intensity. I definitely enjoyed it, although some parts were a little predictable!
This was a very engrossing read with an excellent starting point - I was hooked from the very first page. Dawson gives a rather bleak outlook on domestic life after two children but I sided with our MC constantly, and felt so much frustration on her behalf throughout the novel, which I think is a consequence of the great writing. I did however feel that the big reveal was obvious and easily reduced down to an often seen trope in thrillers (which I won't reveal because of spoilers). I also feel like it was slow at points and could have been cut down, although there was plenty of drama to keep the reader entertained. Overall, I thought that this was an unusual premise and interesting for a novel, but perhaps misses the mark slightly in its delivery.
Wow loved this book. Sal and Matthew are parents of two young children. Sal is finding motherhood a bit difficult simply because she has a baby who doesn't sleep well and she is exhausted. One morning she wakes up on a cliff edge in Cornwall apparently trying to end her life. Sal knows she is not suicidal and would never leave her children without a mother. So how did she get there? When she is back home her husband, Mother in law and parents do not let her out of their sight. She knows it's her sister in law who has always hated her who is making her look mad? Right? Her mother in law Caroline is a psychotherapist and gives Sal the answers she is looking for. Her parents and brother try to protect her and help. A book of lies, misconceptions, and betrayals. The character Sal was so well written it was easy to become her as you read more and more. Be careful who you trust? Be careful you don't just believe what you want to believe!
Brilliant book
Absolutely loved it couldn't put it down from start to finish x
The book started well but became a bit muddled in the middle and then picked up again at the end, overall it was an okay read.
After being hooked from the start with a story that had all the makings of a good thriller. There needed to be just a little more context to help readers feelings towards Sally. Saying that though I could not put the book down and found myself telling my husband about the story as it went on. However at around 70% in when really the story could've ended it threw another twist in the plot. Very well written with a real page turner plot.
Great book, well written and can't wait for more by this author
Thanks for the chance to read this in advance
Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher. This is the first book that I have read by this author. I really enjoyed this book but found it in parts predictable as I have been reading similar sorts of stories. I liked the character Sally but felt that the plot was not realistic
I experienced some problems reading this tale, because there was a disconnect between what I know and what was being said in it - but this was somewhat explained in the way it all turned out, and I'll say no more, because I wish to remain spoiler-free! Aside from this difficulty, I thought this a very interesting and unusual story and I could easily identify with poor, frazzled and exhausted Sally, as two of my three children believed that sleep was a waste of their lives. However, thankfully I never found myself, like Sally, waking alone in the back of a taxi at the far end of the country in pyjamas and a raincoat, and with just enough cash to cover the fare. This is a pacey and complex story which contains plenty to keep the reader guessing as a nightmarish series of events unfolds and a family's safety and happiness is jeopardised..
Sally is a happy young mum. OK she's struggling a bit at the moment as her second child doesn't seem to need any sleep but is sure it will pass. Why then does she wake up staggering out of a taxi on a clifftop miles from home with a note in her pocket that looks like a suicide note? Sally has no memory of the past few hours. She is sure she had no intentions of killing herself but her family are not so sure.
. At times I wanted to shake Sally as I found her actions pretty ridiculous but it did not stop me keep reading to find out what was behind Sally's experience. I loved this book- a five star read. hanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read and review it.
Struggled to get into this book. Not as good as some of the other Lucy Dawson I have read. 3*. Am sure some will enjoy it. Sorry but just didn't do it for me!
