Description
Mid-19th century America.
The respectable residents of the sleepy town of Concord, Massachusetts are rocked by a second murder within the Chase family.
Three years after the drowning of wild child Mary by her own father, later found dead in Boston, Henry Chase’s wife Sarah is discovered in a pool of blood with her throat slit.
And her two remaining children missing.
The sickening discovery is made by widowed local physician, Josiah Bartlett, a man who reveals as large an appetite for detective work as for the sumptuous cooking of his daughter Hannah.
The Doctor is warned previously by the town sheriff not to stick his nose into lawmen’s work.
But he is nevertheless determined to solve the mystery of who could have carried out such a diabolical crime – and to the same family.
After all, he had secured the confession from Henry Chase that he had indeed murdered his daughter – and bludgeoned a fellow Concordian to death.
And Josiah had just managed to escape with his life when Chase had come after him with a sledgehammer.
The doctor draws a startling conclusion to the latest carnage, but soon finds that Hannah has rather more than culinary talents – that’s it is more a case of like father, like daughter.
They soon realise they are up against a force of evil that is seemingly inhuman – perhaps unstoppable.
Could the missing children still be alive?
Where in the world will the trail of clues lead them?
Can they really trap a killer who is a master of disguise and on the verge of insanity?
Deadly Rendezvous is a chilling thriller filled with suspicion and betrayal that makes you question how far some people are prepared to go.
