Description

Being a greenhorn has its advantages…

Crossing counties to the Diamond T Ranch, Jim Joan hopes to secure a job from the owner, Jim Bowen, an old friend of his late father.

But whilst resting on the Black Glass mountains, he spots a lone rider being chased by three others.

It could be an outlaw being chased by a group of possemen, but the individual being hunted looks more like a boy than a dangerous criminal.

When the boy and his horse go head first into canyon, the riders leave him for dead.

Joan can’t stand the sight of blood but if there’s a chance the boy’s alive, then he’s got to save him.

When he finds the boy, thankfully alive but badly injured, he makes a startlingly discovery – the ‘boy’ in question is none other than Sharon Bowen, daughter of Jim Bowen.

With a broken leg, a bad head wound and what seems like temporary blindness, Joan takes her back to the ranch for help.

While it puts Joan in good stead for a job, for Jim Bowen, his daughter’s injuries add even more troubles to his plate.

It seems someone has been stealing cattle and not just from the Diamond T Ranch, but from about every other ranch in the county.

Being bled dry of their cattle, the Bowen’s are facing bankruptcy.

Determined to seek justice for the ranch and Sharon, Joan believes that both are somehow connected.

But as a newcomer, he’s lower than low and in the local town of Bogart and to make matters worse, Sheriff Dell Harte is convinced he’s a runaway outlaw.

But Joan has a plan. If he takes every jab and punch without throwing any back, people will see him as nothing more than a greenhorn.

And as planned, everyone falls for it – including the owner of the Circle H Bar, Shad Carey, who seems to be the only rancher not being cattle robbed.

Not only is Carey suspicious but Joan is sure that there’s a backstabbing cowhand in the midst of the Diamond T Ranch.

And when the ranch foreman is suddenly bush-wacked, Joan sees his chance to show them that he’s not the greenhorn they first thought…
Can Joan stop the cattle rustlers before the Bowen’s go bust?
