Description
1914. Britain is at war with Germany.
Germany’s powerful navy threatens Britannia’s rule of the sea…
Sub-Lieutenant Rodney Sterne must cut short time with his father to go to war- time that was already tainted by a run in with a man named Mandell.
Aboard the Alicon, Rodney faces his first challenge at the battle of Dogger Bank.
Rodney and his comrade, Tottenham hear the unmistakeable boom of a gun from a German cruiser. Alicon fires her first shots! And so begins the mighty sea battle against the German Navy.
With the other ships in the flotilla, the sea battle rages strong. The Germans, with their new fleet are eager to demonstrate their power. How long can the men and Alicon hang on against the damages their guns inflict?
Rodney finds himself waking up aboard Deva. What happened to the Alicon?
Time on Deva is short lived, and Rodney finds himself stranded on a beach with the men from the Alicon and Deva. Things are not much better on land.
They have washed up in enemy territory.
Soon, the men are locked in a battle with the army. Injured, Rodney regains consciousness to find peace, and is shocked to find Mandell there, too. How can Mandell be here? Is it really him?
Rodney needs to get out of Germany, and fast!
Can Rodney fight his way back to Beatty in the North Sea?
With Beatty in the North Sea is a fast-paced action adventure on land and sea. Originally published in 1917 as an adventure story for young adults, this is a rip-roaring yarn full of nostalgia from early Twentieth Century adventure stories.
T. C. Bridges (1868-1944) was a French-born UK writer, who also wrote as Christopher Beck. A prolific author of boys’ fiction, including some Sexton Blake Library stories, he also wrote several tales for adults including Men of the Mist, People of the Chasm, The Death Star and The Hidden City.
