As part of his training, young Constable Nick is appointed as Aide to CID, better known as the ‘Constable in Disguise.’

Joining the criminal investigation department, he soon learns about the work of the men and women in plain clothes and discovers more than he bargained for when he finds himself staking out a house under suspicion of being used as a brothel… 

Constable Nick realises that even in the quest, there is much that goes on beneath the surface.

Meanwhile, his sergeant has an unusual method of getting two burglary suspects to confess: by challenging them to a snooker match.

Constable Nick soon finds himself embroiled in a series of unusual and interesting investigations in his new-found position and can’t help wondering whether it was his Sherlockian skills that played their part…
