Exhibit No. Thirteen

When a body of young girl is found raped and murdered in a wood in Kent, Detective Sergeant Rusk must interview the few men in the area with a history of sexual offences. 

Among them he finds Kremayne, a name he remembers from his school days. Back then, Kremayne had left little impression on him. Is it any wonder? Rusk was popular and athletic; Kremayne was awkward, an outcast.

Rusk can’t help but feel a sting of jealousy when Kremayne turns out to be wealthy and happily married. The allegations against him, Kremayne insists, were brought on by an hysterical individual out to ruin him.

Only when Rusk gets close to Kremayne’s wife Anne, does he suspect that there is more to their cozy life than meets the eye.
