Darel-elLan-Martak has walked the Cenotaph Road – and in the blink of an eye, he was forced to exchange everything he thought he knew for his new reality.

A new life, and a new world.

He and his companion Krek, a gigantic tarantula, must walk the path that has been laid out for them. But when they encounter the evil wizard Claybore, now only a mere skull, things quickly go from bad to worse.

When they arrive in this new land, Lan and his companion realize that their friend Inyx is missing… trapped along Cenotaph Road. 

In a race against time, Lan and Krek must journey up Mount Tartanius, a huge mirrored mountain, if they hope to retrieve an ancient artifact that control access to all the portals along the Road. 

But if Claybore reaches it first, then they will be stranded in this world forever…

Robert E. Vardeman has written over fifty science fiction, mystery, western and fantasy novels. As well as his main works he has written under eight pseudonyms, venturing into game tie-in works, Star Trek novels, and short fiction. After gaining a degree in physics, he began writing for fanzines, resulting in a nomination for the 1972 Hugo Award for the Best Fan Writer. On top of his writing, he is also one of the founders of Bubonicon, a New Mexico science fiction convention.
