A showdown is inevitable…

US Marshal Badge Bannerman and his deputy partner, Johnny Swagger, are on the way to Cottonwood Bend for the latest mission.

Cottonwood Bend and its surrounding land are owned by the greedy cattleman, Ty Stillman. With the passing of the Homestead Act, his cattle range isn’t legally his.

But with Stillman threatening to shoot any farmer that dare settle on ‘his’ land, Bannerman and Swagger are there to prevent a bloody showdown.

As the pair quickly discover, Cottonwood is as corrupt as it gets.

Sheriff Prance is clearly in Stillman’s pocket and in no less than twenty-four hours, Bannerman recognises and arrests two high-wanted criminals.

As a hardened and experienced Marshal, Bannerman knows his work is cut out for him.

To make matters worse, his reputation has preceded him, and Stillman isn’t taking any chances.

But in a town that’s basically owned by Stillman, very few in Cottonwood are happy to help.

There’s the town’s medico Doc Canfield and Miss Sue Blake – who for some reason seems strangely familiar to Bannerman.

But that’s not enough against Stillman’s forty strong riders.

They could call in the US army… but Bannerman has seen first-hand how such a scenario ends – in nothing but blood and death.

No, he’ll clean up Cottonwood with his own two hands – and his sixgun if that’s what it comes down to.

Bannerman knows that controlling men like Stillman are bound to slip up when shoved in a corner.

And when that happens, Bannerman will be there to Shoot On Sight…
