Handy resource and much needed tool for those in the workforce.
I read one of the first editions of this book several years ago, and found it useful but intimidating. This edition of the book is organized to take you through the entire job search process, from putting together a CV and cover letter, to where to search for openings and how to network effectively, all the way to preparing for interviews and negotiating an offer.
I found the book comprehensive and full of useful information in every chapter. According to the author, most of us will be looking at nearly 12 job changes throughout our working careers, and possibly 3 career changes. This book will be a useful read for any working professional, not just those currently looking for a change.
It's a well written and well organized self help manual. I don't usually like this genre, but I am currently looking for a job. I didn't find much to help that I didn't already know, but it did make me feel more in control and more confident. I think this would be a great book for high school and college students, people who haven't really had to hunt seriously before.
There are few things worse than being suddenly unemployed and while trying to deal with the emotional impact, starting up a job search. What do you do next? This book is an excellent, comprehensive, concise , methodical and applicable resource to get your hands on. Full of next step strategies, bullet point tips and easy to understand instructions/suggestions. Recommended too for everyone who hasn't reviewed their skill base or practiced their interview answers lately, as you never know when another job opportunity comes down the pipes...and will you be ready?
