Description
When Liz’s Marshall’s father asks her to cut short her holiday in Miami to find Nick on a remote island, Liz couldn’t comply fast enough.
Leaving Miami to go searching for her ex-RAF brother felt good – even though neither she nor her father could understand why things had gone so downhill with him – but she was excited to see Nick, and hoped she could find the answer her father was looking for.
But when she arrives, the Caribbean Island does not seem appealing enough to Liz to justify her brother’s sudden abandonment of his post in favour of working as a local pilot.
Clearly, the RAF hadn’t meant that much to him – or is Liz mistaken?
Curiousity piqued, Liz books in to the Guani Inn, a dowdy pub with a pair of less than enthusiastic managers, Betty and Lew Schroeder.
But then perhaps everyone is unfriendly to newcomers as Tom Channing, a friend Nick has described in letters, is equally stoney.
Mystified, Liz starts to probe further into Nick’s change in career, but relations start to turn sour, and it soon becomes apparent that both Nick and Tom are keen for her to leave.
They’re not the only ones: strange happenings in the night, in her own hotel room, are outside the realm of normality and Liz starts to question why the level of hostility has increased.
When Liz adds the Chief of Police to her list of people who want her off the island, her suspicions escalate.
Soon, Liz becomes embroiled, unintentionally, with Nick and Tom’s deception – and it turns out to be one mighty roller-coaster ride…
