Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this review copy. I have been given this book as a ebook file, and obviously this book is meant to be used as an actual hard copy. It looks fun on the copy I've been given so would definitely consider buying the paperback version. It gives a quick couple of pages of instructions how to doodle a basic cat head or shape. After that it's up to you!! There are pages with some cat doodles aready drawn in and it's down to you to finish up the doodling. Plenty of pages to do, so hours of endless doodling. If you like cats and you like drawing or if you just want to keep it beside you for those times when boredom takes over, then this is the book for you!
I requested this doodle book, because I enjoy doodling, and coloring when I’m overly anxious. I use this as a way to calm my mind and try to relax my body. This doodle book was perfect to just grab and not think while doodling little cats all over the pages. I loved how each page was different, some had background scenes, some were just cat faces, and some were cats in different shapes and sizes. It was fun to doodle the cats in all different ways, sometimes I would draw them in a type of scene, but sometimes I’d just draw a fat cat wherever I fancied.
I loved that it was only 64 pages, it made it thin enough to carry wherever I wanted to and the fact that you can use whatever drawing pen/pencil/marker/crayon etc. I wanted meant I always had something on hand. Another thing I really enjoyed was the little instructions at the beginning of the book. They made me feel like I could do no wrong in my kitty doodles, which is wonderful for a perfectionist like me.
I would recommend this doodle book to anyone and everyone, of all ages. If you want to just lose yourself in cute little kitty doodles, this is definitely for you. I had so much fun doodling in this book. while relaxing my anxious mind.
I really love this book, so many cats in so many ways, making patterns on there one or just one cat in a frame. How many way can you draw a cat, how many cats can you fit into a pattern. Change a cat and you have your own search game to find the different cat. I simply love the heart pattern the cats create. Excellent book to just wind down and just doodle - with cats.
A fun new art how-to book from Akiko Masudo and Quarto Publishing Group.
The drawings and inspiration pages are really cute and basic and the tutorial step-by-step illustrations are so easy anyone can do them.
I liked the fact that the author/illustrator showed her own off the cuff versions of cat doodles which are spontaneous and energetic and not polished. When I was reading this book, I was thinking 'hey, I can do that'!
It's a very short book (64 pages, according to Amazon), and every page is full of different layouts with, of course, cats in all shapes and sizes and colors. There are pages of cats in frames, like a gallery, cats in trees, houses and comic layout cats and many others. There are pages to finish yourself and pages of tutorials.
The book is very fun and would appeal to younger artists as well as adults who need some inspiration to get through those 'meetings which really should've been an email' :)
Three and a half stars
This book is beautiful, with many types of cats drawn and tips on how to create them yourself too.
Each page is full of colourful cats which all vary showing the versatility on how to create your own types of cats. From doodles, to rainbow cats covering the page, this book shows you them all.
The book is suitable for any age and any capability of drawing talent from young children to adults, these cats are all simple doodles and we can all manage a cat doodle with this book if you're unsure how to!
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!
On the surface, it is like another adult coloring/ doodling book, just with cats, bunch of cats. So if you are allergic to cat doodles, you wont find happiness within the pages of this book. Each page has B&W or colored doodles arranged in different ways and sizes, plus some blank space for you to draw whatever you want (but preferably cats, for extra soothing results), just like in the picture of the cover. It also contains instructions about how to use the book and step by step tutorial on how to draw cute doodle cats, useful if you tend to feel lost without instructions.
I think this book is superior than those fascinating coloring books (showing smooth lines and intricate patterns) when it comes to actually relax and put your mind at rest. If your main focus is to create a piece of art to display or feel proud of, this is not the book. After trying a couple of pages I realized that, first of all: I started right away without fearing I might screw up some beautiful artwork. The doodles look like something made by a kid, with crooked lines and minimal detail. So, for those over critical, self-sabotaging, perfectionist people like me who wont feel at peace until their drawing/coloring looks as good as the one from the book (or at least good enough to make the original artwork some justice) you wont have those issues with this book. Secondly, probably because, once again, everything looks like a kid's drawing, I felt like it was a safe environment where I was allowed to be silly, childish, cute and make mistakes without feeling out of place or judgmental. For some reason (that I bet psychologists know well), this combination of childish drawings, pastel colors, pre-filled pages (no blank page syndrome), and cats did exactly what these types of books are supposed to do: relax and quiet my brain.
FYI: you can actually doodle on your eARC as I did, if you use Bluefire reader on a tablet with a stylus.
This book is exactly what it sounds like. It is a guide and a workbook on doodling cats. Most of it is space to let the readers pen roam free, but there are some simple instruction/ideas in the front. They stress the stress reducing power of doodling, while reminding the reader that doodles don’t have to be perfect. They don’t even have to be pretty. They just have to make you happy.
As I was unable to open the file for this book on my laptop or kindle, I can only say that I loved the pictures. I would have really enjoyed being able to doodle in it myself.
This book is a joyous invitation to have fun with paper, ink, and your imagination. It is delightfully unintimidating and takes you from a cat's ears to mountains of kitties. Nothing too fussy and it reminded me of the joy of doodling with no pressure to produce anything. Since I like to give handmade gifts, this book has more practical value for me too, but it just inspired a lot of fun and I really appreciate that.
Very cute book. Highly recommend for cat lovers. I am more of a dog person personally but still appreciated this book, though. I can now draw a cat pretty well.
Draw like an artist and have fun with this great little book for cat lovers of all ages. Draw your way to inner peace and for mindfulness. Simple, but addictive drawing activities which bring out the inner child.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher who provided me with this ARC. I chose to read it and give a voluntary and unbiased review.
Fun for any cat lover! Fill the book until your heart's content with cats!
Coloring stress me out and my drawing skills are on par with a two-year old. But I want to draw and color. Also, I'm a total cat lady. Catdoodles is the book I've been needing. A tiny bit of instruction is all that's needed to show anyone how to start making their own cats and there are plenty in the book to color in and decorate. The prompts are already started so you can jump in without having to plan but there's plenty of room for creativity.
Really cute doodle book. The first part of the book teaches you how to draw doodle cats. The rest of the books are partially filled pages with cat doodles leaving you plenty of room to fill the rest in with your own doodles or even color in their doodles.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher of Catdoodles for the opportunity To read for review.
Firstly, I am just loving this trend of doodle books. I think they are a lot of fun. Just for something to pass the time, something for children, for planner addicts or anyone who thinks they can't draw.
This is for exactly what the title says it's for, cat lovers! It has simple instructions and the doodles themselves are are very cute. It also gives you ideas for how to change them up and have fun.
I would have given the last star if there had just been a little more more to the book like cat accessories. Beds, toys, and things.
I can’t draw - at all - but I like to doodle. As I can’t draw this is normally spirals or geometrical shapes. This book has shown me how easy it is to make cute little cats (even I managed to make these look like cats) and how easy it is to get variation with a couple of colours and patterns. I also suspect this can easily be transferred into other animals or objects. I’ll have a go! And my doodles will certainly improve from now. Fun and cute book.
wonderful book on doodles of cat with colourful illustrations..........
This book is delightful! My only regret is that it was an ebook galley, so I couldn't start drawing cats as I went through the book. The whimsy and color in this book are very cheering!
Do you love cats?
Do you enjoy doodling?
Then this book is for you!
I was given an ARC through NetGalley to review this doodle book featuring cats and the eBook does not do this book justice. I purchased this for my daughters birthday because she loves to draw and she loves cats. The drawings in the book are not so detailed that a young child won't be able to do them, which I love. The focus is on color and simplicity- even someone who is bad at drawing can probably draw the cats in this book.
With so many books similar to it in production, Catdoodles stands out magnificently well with its beautiful colorful cover. No two pictures in the book are alike- although they all contain cats- and each scene is demonstrated by the author the technique to be used and plenty of space for the artist to replicate the drawing or use one's own imagination.
A very thoughtful, beautiful book!
