Featured Reviews
I received a free electronic copy of Black & Decker Custom Grills & Smokers from NetGalley for my honest review. I enjoyed the different ideas on how to build your own smoker using things you have or things that aren't very expensive. I also enjoyed the detailed explanations of having wood, sawdust & Pellets, and charcoal. This book even shows you how to make a clay pot smoker out of a clay planting pot (amazing). There are also detailed pictures on how to build your own smoker, smokehouse, grill, and even a pizza oven. Wonderfully detailed how to do it yourself book.
A good idea book and wish list starter for those who have ever thought of building their own grills and smokers. I think this book is great but would recommend it to someone who already has a fundamental knowledge of construction basics for ease and safety in the building process.
Incredibly detailed, step-by-step photo instructions for an amazing selection of grilling and smoking projects. Truly something for everyone. This is the book to not only get ideas - but exact plans, material lists and instructions. There's even a section for tailgating!
This book not only covers making your own grilling and smoking equipment, but is also packed with useful information regarding the actual cooking processes. I found the details on the smoking process as well as the information on fuels for smokers and ovens very interesting and useful.
The construction techniques for making a range of equipment, from smokers, grills, to outdoor kitchens and prep carts, include clear instructions and are well illustrated with photos and sketches . Detailed lists of tools and materials preface each project. Projects include working with metal, brick and stone and are suitable for a range of skills levels.
European readers need to be aware that there are no metric dimensions and that some of the equipment might not be readily available in Europe. However the book is an excellent reference for both a handyman and a cook, and is to be recommended
We will refer to this very useful guide when making our new grill and outdoor smoker. Super handy and informative, thank you!
Considering the substantial brand value to anything labeled by Black & Decker, this book is as valuable as it's name. I was very pleased with the content of Black & Decker Custom Grills & Smokers and enjoyed the great close-up pictures and ideas. Since we raise our own meat animals we have dreamed of building our own smoker. This book is perfect for that and even has suggestions for the casual griller and smoker needs. Disclosure: I was allowed to read a copy of this book for free as a member of NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. The opinions I have expressed are my own and I was not influenced to give a positive review.
I know this is a strange title to be found on a romance review blog, but when I noticed I was eligible to review this book I just had to see if it contained what I’ve wanted to do for many years now. For some time I’ve wanted a pizza oven outside so I can bake my own firewood pizza, but the bids I have gotten to build one is very costly so, when I noticed the cover on this I had to have it.
By the looks of the instructions, it looks to be rather simple or so I hope because once this spring hits I am going to get this book and give it a try. Each project has instruction along with images which I hope shows up in the books because most of them didn’t show up on my digital copy.
There are a lot of options for you to build, from small simple smokers like a small clay pot to large more time consuming large smokehouse smokers. You'll find this like small ground fire pits, brick barbecues, all the way to large outdoor kitchens.
If you are somewhat of a handyman or woman lol than this book is for you. Now, I have to go buy one because they don’t let reviewers keep our copies.
