Another author whose books I have never read before - this may be the first I have read but rest assured I am now going to seek out his previous books.

I didn’t realise when I started this book that it was part of a series but it can be read as a stand-alone. David Raker, a Missing Persons Investigator, is summoned to a local Police Station as a woman has turned up there claiming to be his wife. The only problem is his wife has been dead for more than eight years. The police don’t know what to make of it especially when the woman relays details of their life together etc. She claims that David has been ill and this is part of his illness that he ‘forgets’ what’s more an acclaimed Doctor backs up her claims. Is all as it seems? Is David losing it? Or is there something more sinister at work? The story follows David trying to determine what is happening and who this woman claiming to be his wife actually is.

This is an excellent, fast-paced story with lots of twists and turns and I was in total shock when the perpetrator was revealed - I didn’t see that coming.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced read copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

This book messed with my head! Dark and disturbing. A real psycho story in the true sense. As each chapter unfurled, the plot became deeper and darker and the deceit spinning around the main character dragged him deeper into its web. A web I couldn’t see him unfurling. The story is written so well there’s no way I could see what was coming. A real page turner. I loved the very end however. It was beautiful and made me feel poignant, sad and happy at the same time. A truly excellent book.
