Description
The stunning new thriller, from the bestselling author of What Goes Around. For fans of The Girlfriend and Behind Closed Doors.
'A heartfelt story of deception, obsession and love, both heart breaking and compulsive' Jenny Blackhurst
Ruby lives alone in the house she once shared with her husband. By day she sleeps and by night she watches people. She's a CCTV operator, trained to spot early signs of danger. But some things are impossible to predict.
One night, through the eye of the camera, Ruby sees a girl she thought she would never see again. Secretly, harmlessly, Ruby starts to watch her. Until just watching isn't enough . . .
Then someone finds out what she's been up to and things spiral out of her control. In the end, one person will end up behind bars, and another will end up dead.

Excellent read from Julie Corbin. I was absolutely riveted by this book, it kept me awake at night as I had to finish it. Fantastic well written characters and plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing right up until the end.
Chilling and suspenseful, I recommend this book to psychological thriller fans and anyone who fancies a dark, gripping read. Definitely not one to miss out on!
This book is spellbinding. Had me gripped early on, I had to know what happened. Ruby appears fragile and complex but so remarkably strong. Her pain in losing her daughter never leaves her and her anguish dictates her life and her relationships. This story takes you through love, hatred and revenge and despair without letting you up for air. Loved it.
Thank you for an advanced Netgally copy in return for an honest review.
I have read all of Julie Corbin’s previous novels and find her to be an amazingly exciting writer and this was another great read.
Ruby is ex-police and now works for a CCTV business, which monitors the streets of Edinburgh. The story of how and why Ruby is now in this position and the consequences of how and why she behaves the way she does is uncovered gradually. I warmed to Ruby’s character but some of her behaviours surprised me.
We are drip-fed snippets into her life and all the reasons she is where she is now. As she monitors the streets she recognises ‘Hannah’ and she justifies why it is acceptable to watch her although we learnt at the beginning of the novel that it is not. This is where the story explodes.
The secrets creep out and the lies take over.
Thank you to NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton, Mulholland Books and Julie Corbin for my ARC in return for my honest review.
