I am on a huge non-fiction book spree at the moment, with so many different topics that you can learn about easily and in your own time. Although I do love a well written fiction novel, I do enjoy reading them alongside a fact based book such as this one. So, when I saw this on NetGalley (yes, again! It's my favourite haunt!)
I really appreciated that in the synopsis the publisher has given an outline of what is included and in what sort of format as well as that 'the books are not designed for historians, but rather will appeal to the general reader searching for concise and informative history books.' This definitely made me less anxious to pick it up, I am by no means a history buff so these sort of disclosures help reassure you that it won't just go straight over your head! I never liked History at school at all, I found it so dull but as is so often the case, my interest in it developed years later. These sort of introductions are exactly what I need to further my interest in the subject.
All basic facts are here and are set out in a readable way, so much so that I would definitely choose another similar title if Troubador were to publish one in the future. A book that makes learning fun and simple is a rarity! Congratulations to the author for this excellent example.
I would like to thank Jack J. Kanski, Troubador Publishing Limited and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest and impartial review.
