Description
An absorbing and mysterious modern romance inspired by the past – perfect for anyone who loves intrigue, mystery and passion...
Can a small-town singer from Romania and a PR Svengali perform the impossible – transform the legacy of Dracula from evil to good?
Nicoleta, a country girl from a Transylvanian village, goes to London to seek fame and fortune as a singer. There she meets a provocative English Lord who owns a media empire and a PR guru looking for a young star to make the headlines.
Their idea: To turn Nicoleta into a re-creation of Ilona, the wife of Vlad III, the Romanian prince who inspired the legend of Dracula. As Nicoleta becomes increasingly immersed in the role of Ilona, historical mystery and modern romance combine to ask the question:
Could Dracula be alive and living in the 21st Century?

Advance Praise
"A cracking read combining rags-to-riches stardom, first-hand insights into the world of media manipulation, questionable love, heady romance, and with ancient myth and legend insidiously creeping their way into a twist that makes the finale as unpredictable as it is intriguing. What a combination."
Chris Crowther, Novelist

In her early years, Nicolet lived in poverty. She began to sing where she was a waitress.overty and abuse from her parents. She was friends with Alfredo (whose father was tied to the Mob). As Nicolet had lofty dreams of singing and a life in other parts of the world. As Nicolet grew into her teen years, she meets Adrian and Tariq Hussein, Tariq is a wealthy businessman who figures throughout her life. When she does take a job from Tariq, she is first told that she will live in a room at the Club and not be allowed out very often. She quickly learns that if men can use her - she can use them better.
Mark Seymour is a journalist - turned PR man. His first big client was Tariq.
Lord Peter Fitzgerrald is wealthy with old money and owns The Morning Mail.
Tariq has a Club that draws interest from Mark. Mark becomes a partner (of sorts) with Tariq.
Once Nicolet is in London, the players all meet up through their intertwining relationships. Nicolet is given the PR routine by Mark, and eventually becomes a star via Ilona (Dracula's 2nd wife's namesake). Nicola has dreams/sensations of Dracula and his wife. Pursued by Lord Peter through her entire time in London, eventually the Lord and Nicolet decide to marry. Is Peter still/ever married? Will Nicolet become Peter's bride? And what happened to Alfredo, her first love? All of these come to a quick, tidy, finish. Although I was confused at times of the different names with many of the minor characters and where they fit in, all in all this is a good read. Good for the fiction/thriller/horror and even women's fiction lists! Give it a try!
