Description

Lost & Found melds two art forms (photography and poetry) to create emotional scenarios that a reader can appreciate on two levels. It explores the very relevant and affecting themes of feeling lost from the beginning of life through childhood and youth, getting through a divorce, and about finally finding oneself and love towards life.

The collection contains 38 stunning black and white art photographs combined with poignant poems to shape a synergy between words and images. Evocative, profound and beautiful, Lost & Found reshapes our awareness of how we think about poetry.

This was different for me. I've never read poem x poetry before. I quite enjoyed it. My favorite poem is In Orbit.

An interesting and thought-provoking pairing of intensive poetry and brilliant images photographed by the author. A must read.

I enjoyed the pairing of each photograph with a related poem. Definitely a different approach than I am used to with modern poetry.

I am reviewing a copy of Lost and Found through Matador and Netgalley:
In Lost and Found we get a blend of beautiful black and white poetry as well as accompanied poems, this allows the reader to enjoy the message on two very different but accompanying ways. In this brief collection we get such relevant themes as childhood, youth and such topics as how to get through a divorce, as well as finding oneself and how to love life.
There are 38 beautiful black and white photographs as well as poems to shape the synergy through words and images.
I give Lost and Found five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!

I will start by saying I am, in no way, a learned scholar of poetry. I know what I like, I understand what makes a good poem. But there are a lot of intricacies that I just don't get.

Having said that, I really didn't connect with the majority of poems n this collection. That is definitely on me. There may some real beauty in these words - I just didn't find them.

However, the black and white photography was, for the most part, amazing. I loved staring at the images for a minute or two at a time, taking in the beauty that was presented. That's where the real connection for me came from. I could have done the whole book just in photographs. They were great!

Honestly, this book is pretty wonderful. Once I read the very first page I could see so many good things about this book. Yet, unfortunately I couldn't get into the book that much, I don't really know what's wrong though. I just don't get the story so much.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC.

I found this to be incredibly thought povoking and moving during reading. The images matched perfectly and created a mood for the poetry. Very intimate and very emotional.

Hauntingly beautiful juxtaposition between the black & white photos and short poems about life, loss, and finding oneself. I enjoyed both the photos, and the poems equally. I didn't really feel a connection between a photo and its poem, though. Equal, yet very different. The poems were all free verse poems, one or two stanzas. Overall, a lovely collection. Perfect as a coffee table book, or for poetry lovers.

***Many thanks to Netgalley and Matador for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
