Description
Hang on to your Stetson as the fun and games begin in a sexy romantic comedy hotter than a bowl of Texas chili!
By-the-book Deputy Susannah Quinn has all she can do to resist rule-breaking FBI Special Agent D. E. Hogan.
To catch a thief, Susannah and Hogan pose as husband and wife and go undercover. Unfortunately, Susannah and Hogan have already been undercover—in a bed in a Houston hotel where they first met.
For her part, Susannah wishes her lapse in judgment would take a flying leap and land on a cactus in West Texas. Hogan, on the other hand, wants to get the contrary deputy into his bed, but the complications caused by family—his and hers—pretty much guarantee that's never going to happen!
Throw in a suave, silver-haired English jewel thief and his lady love, a middle-aged mom determined to have her own love affair, and the charm of a small Texas town, and you get a story with heart, soul, and passion. Lots of passion.
Can Susannah and Hogan, two mismatched lovers doing everything in their power to avoid falling in love, catch a thief and recover stolen jewels? The clock is ticking. They have only seven days—and nights—to complete their assignment and resist the sweet siren call of desire.

I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
I got this book just recently as a reprint. I really did not know how this book was going to turn out, but after reading this authors other books I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed. Another one of her books about two law enforcement officers one Susannah Quinn who had recently graduated from college with a degree in criminal science. Having issues with men and mostly because her father left when she was seven, and another reason also. She does not believe in love or HEA. She is by the book in her little town that she came back to after her mom had surgery, and is now a deputy. You would think everything would be good but no, D.E. Hogan who says he is a consultant for a town not too far from them keeps coming into their town every day and talking to her uncle the sheriff. Yes they met once before by chance in Houston and of course she is embarrassed by that encounter. Now seeing him every day and him dropping off paperwork for her to type is just frustrating. She does write him a ticket for double parking and a broken tail light only to have her uncle tear it up, she finally has come to her senses and delivers him a typed report with numerous mistakes and tells him to go back to his other town to get it typed. When the next day she is pulled in for an undercover assignment. She is happy until they get to the hotel and finds out he won’t tell her anything. After three days she decides to take matters into her own hands and becomes friends with the jewel thief that they are after. It is from this point on that she begins to realize change in herself and she sees a change in her mother, and with all of this she does things that only irate Hogan to the point where he must decide at the end does he go after her or let her be? Read this fun and good story with good characters to see what happens.
A brilliant read with a brilliant storyline and characters and I will look forward to reading more from you from this author thank you for my arc
I enjoyed this book for quite a few reasons. First, I loved the characters and how there were multiple relationships showcased. Susannah and her mother Rory both have issues when it comes to love and they may both be wrong. Then there is that little almost one night stand Susannah had with the man standing in the little town's police station, where she just happens to work. Hogan is a hot as can be 'consultant' or is he? There is heat, passion, forgiveness, trust issues, and lots of fun.
