A great reference book that can be useful to people who are beginning to study astrology and as reminder to those who are experienced.
It's full of charts and example and it's a pleasant and useful read.
Recommended!
Many thanks to Quarto Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC
That's totally the book I wanted! That kind of book I will leave on my nightstand and read a bit every day. I love Astrology and yeah I already knew a lot, but not like this book taught me. It's so much more complex and deep than I thought! This one I would kill for having the hardcover copy. Honestly. I'm ready to sit with all my friend and discover all the hidden truths about them lol
If I need a rating, it would be 4/5, but I don't like the idea of rating a non-fiction book. Which is actually funny, bc I don't ever read non-fiction. But this - and a few others - really picked my interest.
On a side note, the absence of a kindle edition really annoyed me, since I had to read it on my laptop, instead of my kindle
♥I got a copy from the publisher through NetGalley and this is my most honest uninfluenced review♥
An interesting primer for anyone who's wondered about Astrology beyond the newspaper horoscope. I found the info on rising and moon signs really fascinating, and it was neat to see examples of charts using celebrities. Towards the end I started to get a little lost with the aspects, nodes, etc., and it would've been helpful to have some visuals about how these are indicated on charts. Same with the final chapter where Fenton gives an example of a chart interpretation - some type of visual indicator for where on the chart she was looking for each piece would've been really helpful.
In Focus Astrology in an in-depth book about using astrology to help plot the course of your life. It includes ways to work with your birth chart, It instructs how to use predictions and how to tell what your sign is most useful for such as strengths and weaknesses. There are examples used to help decipher what it all means. It includes 12 signs of zodiac, ascendents or rising sun, the 12 astrological houses, the planets, the aspects and simple predective techniques. Very well written and easy to follow for those with an interest on this subject. I quite enjoyed reading about my sign and how it affects me. I received this book from Net Galley and Quarto Publishing Group-Wellfleet Press for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.
This was an interesting looking into the procedure that goes into the art of astrology. I learned how zodiacs are derived and how people use the movement of the galaxy to try and predict the future. I was having some trouble following, so I suggest you go online and bring up the charts they are talking about so you can work your own as you go. I enjoyed how the author used famous people, as examples and was interested in the insight she pulled from them.
This is a pretty good primer if you want to learn about astrology.
As a lifelong fan of astrology I was very happy to pick up this book by Sasha Fenton. I love the fonts and illustrations and it was easy to read. When I first started the book and read about sun signs and rising signs I thought the book was quite light with nothing particularly new to me with shortish explanations. As it progressed through it got much meatier with more in depth explanation on the Houses, Aspects and Charts. This is where I thought the book really stood out and liked the fact that it made these more complicated parts of astrology easier to understand.
A very cool basic introduction to Astrology. I think that it was straightforward and easy to understand. This is an great beginning book into Astrology and those that are interested in the meaning behind things.
Other than the horoscopes on the newspaper, I never really knew much about astrology. But In Focus Astrology, really opened the door on what astrology really is an the elements to reading and understanding the signs. It dives into deeper topics to explain how everything works and reveals the complexity and beauty of reading the stars. This is my first exposure to astrology, and it did not disappoint. I found it interesting reading more about my sign and others
Thank you Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review
Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group – Wellfleet Press for the ARC!
Nice read! Even if you don't know much about astrology, it's all very easy to understand. I think it's a great guide for beginners (and experts too, why not?). If you believe that people use astrology just to justify thoughts and behaviors that we all have, you should totally read this book. You'll see how everything makes sense and how much you can learn about yourself and those around you. I really do believe in it.
The perfect book for astrology enthusiasts who'd like to expand on more than just zodiac sign compatibility and their horoscope. SO insightful! I loved it and I'm not surprised.
Love this series! The design and layout is so cute and the information is fun and educational. This is a great primer on the topic for anyone interested in astrology.
In Focus Astrology is a book for anyone who wants to know more than just their daily horoscope. A lovely addition that is sure to get you started on your astrological journey.
This is one of four titles in this beautifully-created series, that each focuses on a different spiritual area.
Astrology is something I know so little about and so hoped this book would provide me with the basic information I needed, without overwhelming me with things I knew too little of to begin to yet fathom. The slimness of the volume appealed and I found it did deliver exactly all I required, whilst also covering topics I felt too much of a novice to fully comprehend but was given enough of an initial understanding to know whether it was something I wished to return to in the future. Birth charts, zodiac houses, sun signs, and moon signs were covered here and yet more was hinted at that I have yet to fully explore.

Interested in learning about astrology and perhaps more about charts and how to create and read them? This book is jam packed with information to absorb and that will help you understand a bit more about the subject. I believe it is a book best taken in small sittings so that what is read can be retained then added to what comes next. There are more complex books on the subject but this would be a good book to begin with. It will take some time to learn it all but it is a treasure trove of ideas and knowledge gleaned over the years by the author who gladly shares it with the reader.
4 Stars
A quick look into signs, charts, and how people believe this affects personalities and lifestyle. Great for beginners or those looking for insight into signs other than their own.
This is a great introduction to astrology, especially if you've never gotten into astrology until now, like myself. I've always been interested in astrology but my interest never went beyond my local newspaper's horoscope section.
I decided to give this book a try and I'm glad I did! It was easy to follow and fun to learn about my zodiac sign.
There's a chart with every zodiac sign on it to help you create your own chart. If you get a chance to pick this book up and are curious as to what your sign is all about, then this is the book for you.

What I Liked
The first thing I noticed about this book was how beautiful it looked. Now, this might sounds a bit contrary to what you should write in a book review, but with this book the imagery throughout adds a lot. The reason I say this is because all images in this book serve a purpose. They either illustrate a star sign or they are a diagram of some sort. The style is cute, they are all informative, but not distracting in my option. Everything was very complimentary.
Now, this goes into my next point, this book is very informative. It talks about a wide array of subjects that are related to astrology. This include star signs, ascending and rising signs, the aspects and the houses as well. Even with all of this information and how in-depth it is, I was never confused. The language used to explain aspects of this field is very upfront, but done so in a way that is straightforward and not overly filled with jargon.
What I Didn’t Like
The one thing I think that would be a negative with this book would be that you really need to want to explore astrology. This book is not a book that you just would just jump into to know what astrology is, it is for those who want to the topic more in depth. I feel like this is more of a perfect book for those who have read one already or are very dedicated to learning about this topic.
Overall Thoughts
This guide is great for those who are really interested in learning about astrology. It is a very well rounded guide that covers many aspects of the topic. Not only does it cover the more known topics such as the signs such as Cancer, Taurus, and the other 10 zodiac signs it goes houses, planets, and more. It is really a great book to read and have on hand to reference if you are committed to astrology and learning all there is to learn about the topic.
* I received this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Great starter book for people wanting to learn about astrology. Brilliant illustrations and explanations.
I’ve been reading this in focus series for a few books now and am more impressed with each book. Astrology has always interested me, but I recently got to the point that I really wanted to delve into it. I haven’t read many books on the topic, but this one is by far my favorite and the one I found most helpful. It was written in a way that was easy to follow and understand. I can’t wait to continue learning as much as I can about Astrology.
