Description

Great adventures often start with a drink—including Alice’s expedition down the rabbit hole, which began with a sip of a curiously labelled tipple. Drink Me invites you to do the same; learn how to mix 20 cocktails that will fill you with wonder and childish glee at the surreal flavor combinations, while amassing the perfect selection of drinks for your own spirit-soaked Mad Hatter's tea party.

We have delved into the depths of the Pool of Tears in search of the most magical ingredients and sumptuous flavors, and after some sage advice from a helpful caterpillar, have compiled a list of recipes that would be regularly enjoyed by the inhabitants of Wonderland.

Drink Me includes concoctions for every palate and occasion, no matter your drinking predilection. Perfect pre-dinner aperitifs are in abundance, including The Queen of Hearts, a sweet, refreshing drink with bitter undertones, and Painting The Roses Red, a bubbly highball of sharp raspberry and gin flavors, softened with a hint of rose water.

We explore the hallucinogenic properties of Absinthe in our ode to the unknown, The Mushroom,a strong mix of aniseed, rose, and complex herbal flavors, while we reminisce over the taste of our childhood with drinks such as Bread and Butterfly Pudding and the Unbirthday Cake Martini. The Duchesses Soup is a refined take on the punch bowl, while we make a refreshing palate cleanser in the form of The Caucus Chaser, a sticky plum and chestnut sharpener low enough in alcohol that you can greedily gulp it without even a hint of regret.

Drink Me includes everything you need to know for throwing your own Alice in Wonderland–themed cocktail party, including cocktail party advice and techniques for mixing and decorating your drinks.

Put on your Cheshire grin and get ready to head down the rabbit hole with your copy of Drink Me in hand.

Not only is this a perfectly beautiful cocktail tribute to Alice in Wonderland, it’s a good starter book for anyone wanting to take up cocktail making. Not only does the book give you an introduction that includes types of ice and mixing methods, but the book also gives you batch recipes for syrups and flavoured spirits.

I decided to read this book not because I love cocktail making (though I'm a fan of cocktail drinking!) but because I absolutely LOVE all things Alice in Wonderland. This book is so beautifully decorated and each recipe is thoughtfully constructed to fit with Carroll's book - everything from a cocktail's title (particular favourites include: Curiouser and Curaçao and The Frumious BanderSnaps!) to its ingredients have been very cleverly put together. Everything is perfect, right down to the choice of font.

I would absolutely buy this book for another Wonderland fan, or indeed for someone who likes putting together unusual cocktails. Before each cocktail is a description of its inspiration that adds to the experience. For example, the introduction to a drink called the White Rabbit tells us:

"This drink has a thick, creamy texture and a well-balanced taste the blends the vanilla sweetness of the buttercream with the tart of the Gooseberry and a touch of floral elderflower, while it's crisp white colour is perfectly reminiscent of our furry friend."

Thankfully, there are metric and imperial measurements throughout so there's no need to have a conversion chart in front of you while attempting the recipes.

It's a shame there are no "Eat me" treats to go with the drinks presented here... perhaps that's the next book? Meanwhile, I'm very glad I'll be able to try the authors' pop-up bars in London and will be keeping an eye out for Paloma Drinks Co.

Thank you to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing and the authors for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely GORGEOUS book that's worth buying just because it's so beautiful!
I wish the ingredients were a little easier to get where I live, but it's definitely a gorgeous book. I'm actually considering getting a physical copy. It's truly gorgeous!

Perfect for any ALICE IN WONDERLAND fan looking to throw a tipsy tea party, this cocktail book not only has themed drinks, but also the recipes for all the themed syrups to add to them. Cannot wait to make "The Caterpillar's Hookah" at our next picnic with friends! So happy I found this book.

Love, love, love this book! It's filled with such unusual ideas for creative cocktails. And so many alcohol free options. I am especially happy with the recipes for popular mixers - I can make my own now! Best of all, it doesn't matter -at all- if you are an "Alice in Wonderland" aficionado, everyone will enjoy the yummy factor in these recipes. Both the title and the cover art are great too. OK, I've waited long enough... I'm headed to the kitchen to make Lemon and Sage Syrup!

Not only is this a fabulous tribute to Lewis Carroll's ALICE IN WONDERLAND, but it's a great resource for mixologists, aspiring or expert. The first section describes how different types of liqueurs are made and then section two dives right into the cocktail recipes. The third section provides recipes for producing batch liqueurs, as well. The artwork was fun to look at while browsing the recipes, and I am definitely inspired!

If you're looking for a cocktail recipe book with a difference then you'll find it here! Curious cocktails from Wonderland contains exactly what it says. This is a fun but thorough book of cocktail recipes based on Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. In three parts: 'Introduction' has some useful basic information; 'Cocktails' contains recipes for many truly unusual concoctions; and 'Batch Recipes' which offers ideas for syrups, liqueurs, infused spirits, etc. A really quirky addition to your cocktail book collection. Thank you to Net Galley and Quarto publishing for an ARC.

Although I have taken bartending courses I am not an alcohol drinker. I will use alcohol in cooking and have been forever enchanted with the stories by Lewis Carroll.
This is a beautiful book that makes an excellent addition to any Wonderland collectors shelves.

Besides sharing thoughts and connections with the characters and stories of Alice in Wonderland, this book clearly explains tips, techniques and concepts of drink creation and mixing.
I had no knowledge of fat-washing before this book.

It will be difficult to choose a favorite flavor concoction.

This whimsical collection of drinks would fit perfectly in any adult;t Alice in Wonderland party! These drinks are unique and taking their flavors from the Alice in Wonderland books. I like how they included recipes for syrups as well as giving you the basics of equipment as well as how to make ingredients that give these drinks their pop.
I didn't like not having picture for the drinks as part of the Alice world is that it is visually striking.

This is a beautiful and very creative book of cocktails and other very detailed and fancy things, like making your own syrups and liqueurs. I requested this book because I love Wonderland and alcohol, but these recipes are too fancy for me to attempt -- however, I'd gladly drink anything from this book if someone else made it for me! My one complaint would be that I wish there's been photos of the cocktails, not just Wonderland artwork. When I make 'mixed drinks' I like to see what it ought to look like when completed.

The book offers cocktails inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. It shows you the basics of cocktail making and then offers you a wide selection of cocktails for "your own spirit-soaked Mad Hatter's Tea Party", and, maybe most importantly, a section with recipes on how to create the concoctions needed to make the cocktails. You'll find out how to make ingredients like "buttered toast infused rum" and "pancetta and pink peppercorn vodka".

I'm not much for drinking cocktails, but I am sure to try out making some of the above mentioned ingredients, just because it sounds like the sort of kitchen alchemy I enjoy doing.

The illustrations and page layout are superb, too!

This is a fun book! And would make a great gift for any lover of the classic Alice in Wonderland books. I can't wait to try to make the Golden Afternoon drink. What a fun book to add to your collection of cookbooks.

A great book for Alice in Wonderland fans and also for anyone wanting to try making cocktails.

Each recipe is well described, and even has recipes for their own flavoured vodka ingredients ... those alone sound intriguing.

I mean ... vanilla bean and cake frosting infused vodka... what more do you need to know??? :D

As a lover of cocktails and an enthusiastic amateur mixer I found this book to be very good fun indeed.

The ingredients are sometimes obscure but this just adds to the general kookiness! Delicious sounding drinks and I look forward to trying them at our annual Christmas cocktail party.

Quite a fun little book - loved all the preliminary information including apprpriate glassware and descriptions. I know I’ll be making several of the syrups, though I’m not too sure about pancetta or turkey infused drinks -we’ll see about those. I plan to make a couple of syrups this week so I can sample ‘Painting the Roses Red’ this weekend. I know this book will be a cute and well recieved gift for any new and seasoned drinkers.
Thank you!

IF I DRINK THIS, WILL I GET SMALL?

I think “Drink Me! Curious Cocktails From Wonderland” is an inspired idea and the execution is just as inspiring! This is a beautifully designed hard-back gift book with gorgeous illustrations and photographs of 20 imaginatively crafted cocktails — each with props and accessories that speak, “Whimsy!”

I adore the Publisher’s note, so will share that here, while granting this a highly recommended 5/5 before slipping down the rabbit hole!

I devoured this book in one sitting. I love it! It’s so sweet and an exciting book which made me feel like I was in wonderland. I can’t wait to start making some of these syrups and concoctions. Buttered toast infused rum here I come. I have a cocktail party coming up and can’t wait to show some of these off.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an unbiased review.

Super creative drink recipes (and presentation ideas) based on the Lewis Carroll classic. Some of the ingredients are a bit out-there, but there are recipes included for how to make most of them (pancetta and pink peppercorn vodka, anyone?); some of the cocktails seem a little complicated and are probably not for novice drinkmakers like myself, although I'm going to give some a try. Unique and inspiring!

I’ve read so many speciality themed cookbooks that I was truly on the fence about reading Drink Me. Some of them stretched the theme so thinly or otherwise tried too hard to stick with the theme that the book was painful to read. However, Drink Me was a delight! It was a real - somewhat serious - cocktail book with an informational introduction, about fifty pages of cocktail recipes, and another fifty pages of batch recipes.

The introduction to the book was much more focused on providing an introduction to the basics of making good drinks than on tying into the Alice in Wonderland theme. There is some pretty solid information about the spirits and liqueurs used in the book, general techniques for making good cocktails, and the necessary equipment, tools, and glassware. Granted, the information presented isn’t anything new or innovative, but it does enable whomever picks up this book to prepare and present a pretty decent cocktail.

I love that the cocktail recipes in this book are - for the most part - organized to tell the story of Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. It starts off with “Golden Afternoon,” followed by “White Rabbit,” “Drink Me,” “Pool of Tears,” “Curiouser and Curacao,” and so on. The introductions to the cocktail recipes describe how that cocktail ties into the Alice in Wonderland story, so that if its been a few years since you’ve read the book, you can still understand the reference. In a way, it’s like re-reading the novels in a topsy-turvy fashion. And that is pretty awesome!

The cocktail recipes themselves tend toward the odd - or fantastical as the Introduction calls them. One of the most unusual combinations was Cherry Heering, vanilla bean and cake frosting infused vodka, buttered toast infused rum, turkey rum, pineapple juice, toffee syrup, and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Yet, there were also fairly pedestrian combinations as well, such as cucumber vodka, sake, dry vermouth, and coriander bitters. Most of the recipes called for a homemade syrup or an infused liquor, the recipes for which were fund in the third section of the book.

The batch recipes for syrups, infusions, fat washed spirits, and other fantastical ingredients required by the cocktail recipes are very straightforward and well written. The only oddity of the recipes is that the ingredients - both dry and wet - are given in ounces, which means that the dry ingredients must be weighed. The recipes for the liqueurs are especially interesting because they teach the reader how to recreate common liqueurs, like orange curaçao and sweet vermouth.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book for its imaginative recipes and general clean humor. I would definitely package this book with a copy of Alice in Wonderland as Christmas gifts for my literary friends. The only downside to the book is that each cocktail did require at least one ingredient from the batch recipes section; therefore, the cocktail recipes require some forethought to create. Of course, once there is a bottle of vanilla and cake frosting infused vodka in the refrigerator, things get much easier!

I have yet to prepare any of the cocktails or batch recipes in this book. When I do, I will update my review.

I received an advanced copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Drink Me: Curious Cocktails from Wonderland is an inventive spin on a cocktail cookbook themed around the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland. The concoctions are as wild and imaginative as the original story with new adventurous drinks just mad enough to be perfect for an unbirthday tea party. Perry opens with a description of standard liquors, equipment and techniques every mixoligist in training will want to know. The cocktail recipes are a trip down the rabbit hole with out of the box liquors and home made bitters, simple syrups and infusions (recipes included). Each entry has a detailed description of ingredients and instructions even a Caterpillar could follow.

As a beginning cocktail maker they can seem a little intimidating but I am excited to try the wide variety of syrups and infusions. The directions are easy to follow.

These unique spins on classic cocktails and inventive new ones make this book a great addition for those with adventurous palates. Don't forget to check out the batch recipe section for your next party, they will prevent the queen of hearts from taking off your head!

This cocktail book outlines techniques, tools, recipes for syrups and purees, and of course, cocktail concoctions. The recipes for the drinks could be served at the Mad Hatter's tea party or at an Alice in Wonderland themed pop-up bar. Each recipes is clearly thought out and ties perfectly into the Lewis Carroll classic. It also has recipes for different skill levels (I admittedly did not know what 'fat washing" was until I read this book). The gorgeous graphic design is reminiscent of a 1st edition novel..Very specific and niche, I'm not sure how often the average reader will return to these recipes, but overall is a good read.

This is a very cute book full of whimsical drink recipes. This is not only perfect for Alice in Wonderland fans but beginners in cocktail making. I like how the author explains the different liquors, techniques, and glasses used at the start of the book. Each drink is perfectly crafted to fit a section of the story. The Caterpillar's Hookah is a family image and a scotch based drink captures the essence of the character. The Cup of Mad Tea certainly sounds like a cocktail that will have you feeling mad yourself after one glass.

Such a great book!
Drink Me! is a unique collection of cocktails that have all been inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The book has 20 cocktail recipes. The recipes are all really good, and this book works well as a regular cocktail book. There is also a list of the "most curious cocktail bars" you should visit, and the best ingredients to use with each recipe. The illustrations are also great!

Who hasn't found themselves planning a party and searching for a new or different theme(hopefully, it isn't just me)? I could write a book(Ha) on planning drinks around rum(Mojito anyone?)or Jack Daniels(Hello Lynchburg Lemonade) or the ever popular Long Island Ice Tea(since I live on Long Island). However, I never thought about how certain books provide so much inspiration for food and beverages. Lucky for me, the authors did and wrote Drink Me, a terrific collection of curious cocktails inspired by Alice in Wonderland.
The book is divided into several sections that cover Spirits and Liqueurs, Techniques, Equipment and Tools, Cocktails, Batch Recipes and Additional Resources. If you haven't yet released your inner bartender(I've thrown more than my fair share of Adult Beverage parties), this guide covers all the basics. From descriptions of spirits to different types of ice and techniques such as shaking, layering or straining, as well as glassware and garnishes, everything is described in enough detail for a beginner.
Part II is all about the cocktails. My favorites(so far) are Off With Her Head, Drink Me, Curiouser and Curacao and the Caterpillar's Hookah. These were the four drinks I chose for my August gathering, and everyone loved the idea of this book and enjoyed the cocktails(can you say holiday gift). Since there are quite a few more curious cocktail recipes, this will be a go-to guide for quite a while.
The recipes are fun, though some of the ingredients take a little work(making cake frosting vodka or buttered toast rum for example), they delivered on taste and made for an interesting party theme. All my book-loving friends were coming up with cocktail ideas from lots of different books and we just had a great time with an adult beverage or two.
I received a DRC from Quarto Publishing Group-Rock Point through NetGalley.

Thank you to Quarto books for an e-galley of this cocktail book for review!! The cocktails in Drink Me! are all very inventive and sound amazing. For me, they seemed very complicated and have a lot of steps though. Certainly a special occasion book! A reason to make a batch of wonderful and inventive syrups and buy liqueurs just for the drink. Would be lovely for a theme party! Available September 18, 2018

Drink Me! has 25 cocktail recipes all linked to the plot of Alice in Wonderland.

Each recipe comes with a brief explanation of how it relates to the Alice in Wonderland story. For example, the Unbirthday Cake Martini uses cake frosting-infused vodka, hazelnut and raspberry liqueurs, and pineapple and lemon juice. With the rainbow sprinkle topping, you will want to drink this martini on all 364 of your unbirthdays this year. Drink Me! also has recipes for creating the special infusions used in the book. I have never heard of a fat-washed infusion before but I can see its usefulness beyond the recipes in this book.

Drink Me! is such an innovative idea. I can’t wait to combine my love of exotic cocktails with my love of Alice in Wonderland by having a themed party on Halloween. A great book for amateur or profession bartenders but even better for Alice fans. 4 stars!

Thanks to the publisher, Rock Point, and NetGalley for an advance copy.

Real talk, I want to drink every cocktail in this book. Alice in Wonderland and cocktails are a match made in heaven. The creators have done a wonderful job blending the story and characters with real world ingredients.

This book would be great for amateur and seasoned bar tenders alike. Not only does it teach you some great techniques but also helps you experiment with flavours you wouldn't normally consider. The option to flavour your own liquors and creating tasty garnishes is also a plus. Not to mention the book itself is just beautiful. I can't wait to get my hands on a hard copy.

Alice in Wonderland never had it so good! Although this is principally a recipe book, the Alice in Wonderland theme runs through it. I enjoyed reading the book, tried a couple of the recipes, and promptly took the theme on the road to all of my friend's houses. So far, I've not found anyone who was not impressed with the recipes or the book itself. Great idea. What's the next theme? Maybe Harry Potter?

The minute I saw this book up on NetGalley I knew I had to get my greedy little paws on it. I adore all things ALICE IN WONDERLAND, and I love to drink (lol), seriously though, I do love trying new and unusual cocktails. Combine that with my love for reading, and well, I am undoubtedly going to be intrigued!

First off this book is just fun to look at. It is full of colorful illustrations, hand-drawn art, and eye-catching fonts. The book is broken up into three parts with each part broken down into the following chapters...

PART ONE -- Introduction, Spirits and Liqueurs, Techniques, Garnishing Techniques, Equipment and Tools, Glassware.

PART TWO -- Cocktails.

PART THREE -- Batch Recipes, Syrups, Liqueurs, Infused Spirits, Puree and Juices, Fat-Washed Spirits, Dehydrating Fruit for Garnish.

The recipes are easy to follow and include all the measurements to create a single cocktail. Each recipe also includes a quote and a little bit of information about what inspired the creation of the cocktail.

Here are just a few of the whimsical cocktails that you will find in this book...

-- Off with Her Head
-- White Rabbit (This one was my favorite. It was like a dessert in a cocktail glass).
--Curiouser and Curaçao
-- Pig and Pepper
-- Cup of Mad Tea
-- The Queen’s Tart
-- Dirty Oyster Martini
-- Un-BirthdayCake Martini (Another fave of mine!)

This was simply a FUN book with a delightful layout and whimsical cocktails. I will definitely be adding the physical book to my ever-growing cookbook collection the minute it is released. I would recommend this one to anyone who loves literature themed cookbooks, as well as anyone who is an Alice In Wonderland fan.

I wanted to read this book based on my love of Lewis Carroll. The stories of Alice are a mesmerising mix of madness and fantasy. What better subject to launch the imagination into making cocktails.
Not that fancy elaboration fruit and umbrella laden drinks is my bag. I love my craft beer and neat spirits to be fair but like I say the oblique link to a special world was irresistible.
The book is simply a delight. Beautifully illustrated and with a obvious passion for creating new cocktails and spreading the word with evangelistic zeal.
It opens up the world of cocktails and the art of bartending at home into everyone’s orbit.
The introduction starts from basics, the techniques and equipment needed. The root ingredients and the simple tools, glasses needed to set the drinks off.
The.each cocktail is introduced. The inspiration for it and why certain flavours were sought and used. A simple recipe is given to make this new creation.
Finally building on your confidence in this process the authors take you through making your own syrups, liqueurs and infused spirits. All these items can be bought but with encouragement you can make your own and experiment in your own fashion as your palate and taste awareness grows and matures. In the process learning what goes with what how to experiment and use clever creative arts like making puréed, juices and fat washed spirits you. Building your own pantry and laboratory to allow your own imagination to fly, grow and disappear down any rabbit hole of your mind.
I like the many cross references to where the batches you are encouraged to make for yourself with their Alice inspired cocktails.
This allows for a cheaper method, more fun and ultimately knowing what goes well together the chance to explore and indulge your creative juices.
A pleasant winner of a book suitable if I enjoyed it for anyone who likes a tipple. A perfect gift item.

I received a free e-copy of Drink Me: Curious Cocktails from Wonderland by Nick Perry from NetGalley for my honest review. An absolutely adorable and fun book cocktails and more. Such a fresh and fun spin on just the average cocktail book. This is a book full of fun and fanciful cocktails sure to please anyone.

I was really impressed with the lengths Nick Perry went to to explain techniques involved in making a cocktail. Examples, shaking, stirring, straining, layering, building, fat washing, infusion and even rimming.

I loved the stories and the drink names being based off the book, Alice In Wonderland". A gem of a book that should be treasured by all.

Drink Me! by Nick Perry and Paul Rosser is a well-designed and fun cocktail book which features unique whimsically-named drinks inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The recipes are easy to follow, and the book is perfect for both beginners and experts alike.

I know nothing about making cocktails but I love drinking them so this book was perfect for me. I love the attention to detail. The pages are beautifully vibrant with lovely colours that do not distract from the writing but instead nicely enhances it.

The book is helpfully divided into three parts: Introduction, Cocktails, and Batch Recipes. The thorough but brief introduction gives readers useful information on the various techniques in drink-making as well as the tools and glassware to use for constructing cocktails. I particularly like the segment on popular spirits and liqueurs which is perfect for people who are new to the world of alcohol. The descriptions are succinct and easy to read. There are also cute artistic renderings of bar equipment and glassware which adds a fun touch to the descriptions.

The unique cocktails feature unusual ingredients like rosemary and salt syrup and pancetta. I love their whimsical names like Curiouser and Curaçao and Beware the Jabberwocky. Although the cocktails seem complicated, the single-serving recipes are easy to follow. I like the quotes and brief explanations before each drink which shows how the cocktail is inspired by Alice while also providing an indication of the taste.

The final segment of the book features more fun and simple recipes so that readers can create homemade syrups, spirits, liqueurs and much more to use in their cocktail-making.

Although the book features lovely Alice in Wonderland related artwork, I wish pictures of the actual drinks were included. I want to see what the finished cocktails should look like.

Drink Me! is a beautifully designed and unique cocktail book. I would definitely purchase a copy for myself. This book would be perfect for the Alice in Wonderland fans or the mixologists in your life. Or, pick up a copy for yourself and be the mixologist at your own fabulous Wonderland themed party!

Who doesn't love a book about drinks and Alice in Wonderland... I loved looking at this book and every adult Alice fan should check it out! http://fkrants.blogspot.com/2018/09/drink-me.html

Having loved Alice in Wonderland since I was a young girl, when I saw this I knew I had to get my hands on it! The author/publisher has picked the perfect time for this to be published as it fits very well with the Autumn months as we head towards Halloween. This wouldn't have as big an impact on me had it been released in the Summer months, although I would've still appreciated it.

Firstly, Nick Perry and Paul Rosser have done a fantastic job creating a simply delightful and utterly charming book that will give many hours of pleasure to those who adore Alice in Wonderland. Each page is filled with wonderful illustrations and hand-drawn artwork that is a sight to behold. You can tell that not only have the recipes been well thought out, but the design features have too. It would be a fun, colourful and useful addition to any book lovers book shelf.

Part One - Introduction - Spirits and Liqueurs - Techniques - Garnishing Techniques - Equipment and Tools - Glassware

Part Two - Cocktails

Part Three - Batch Recipes - Syrups - Liqueurs - Infused Spirits - Puree and Juices - Fat-Washed Spirits - Dehydrating Fruit For Garnish

I can't imagine anyone disliking the novelty cocktails, and they could make a birthday or any other celebration a unique and memorable one. I have made some of them for friends and they absolutely loved them! Not only did they demand to know the name of the book but they wanted to know where they can purchase their own copy. Come and join us as we journey down the rabbit hole!

Many thanks to Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

This book comes in two parts. The first part is a perfect introduction to cocktail making explaining the ingredients, types of glasses and methods to mix cocktails. The second half is then when the cocktail recipes appear, there are some wonderful recipes inspired by Lewis Carrol's masterpiece. This is perfect for cocktail and Alice in wonderland enthusiasts alike.

When I saw this book for the first time I knew I just had to read it and see what fun Alice in Wonderland drinks I could come up with!

It's got so many different recipes with whimsical names such as Un-BirthdayCake Martini, White Rabbit, Cup of Mad Tea, and Off with Her Head.

These recipes are simple to follow and are fun to make but the best part is enjoying the delicious drinks!

The theme of this book is based off of Lewis Carroll's story 'Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.’ Fans of Alice will go simply mad over this book, I sure did!

This book is highly strange and filled will different cocktails you may see served by the Red Queen, The Mad Hatter at his infamous Tea Parties and it even includes some delicious infused recipes throughout for your enjoyment.

In this book you will get recipes for cocktails, batch recipes, and everything in-between. You’ll get information on the correct glasses to use for your cocktail, techniques, equipment, and a host of other things to make you the life of the party.

This book was given to me for review purposes and the thoughts above are my own. These are my honest thoughts and feelings towards this book. Here is one of weirdly but delicious cocktails you’ll find in the book. If this tickles your fancy then you’ll be quite surprised to see the others in store when you grab your own copy.

PIG and PEPPER

Makes 1 Cocktail

~Ingredients~
1 Slice of Crispy Pancetta
1 oz (30ml) Pancetta and Pink Peppercorn Vodka
1 oz (30ml) Bloody Mary Mix (Recipe on Page 122)

~Method~
1. Pan-fry a thin slice of pancetta in a dry skillet over medium heat until crispy and charred. Reserve. 2. Pour the vodka and Bloody Mary mix into a mixing glass with an ice cube, stir to chill, then strain into a 2-ounce (60ml) shot glass. 3. Lay the slice of pancetta over the glass as a garnish, using a cocktail stick to help it sit on the rim if required.

In the book there is a cute quote and an explanation telling how and why the cocktail was created if you want to find out more go out and get you a copy.

A small cocktail book (140 pages) that packs a punch. Creative, unusual and super cool recipes that reference quotes from the world of Alice in Wonderland (White Rabbit, Off With Her Head, The Caterpillar’s Hookah). The author hit his mark when he wrote that he wanted to create “a perfect selection of drinks for a spirit-soaked Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.”

It might be a bit risky to create one of the more involved recipes only to find out it isn’t your cup of tea. For example, Drink Me (cake frosting infused vodka, buttered toast infused rum, turkey rum - recipes all included) includes a significant amount of customized booze to have to pour down the drain. The solution of course is to have a Mad Hatter’s tea party and ask guests to each bring an ingredient!

There are plenty of recipes that can be made with little effort/cash starting with the syrups, liqueurs and infused spirits that can become basic pantry staples. A great gift for bar staffers and home spirit crafters who are looking to ramp up experimentation.

This is a beautifully illustrated and designed little book.
This book is great for the Alice in Wonderland fanatic, someone looking to create a fun tipsy tea party, or someone that just enjoys fun drinks. The first part of the book does a great job breaking down what you need to know and then goes into the drinks with appropriately titled Wonderland related drinks, each tying into Carroll’s magically weird world.
Fun, beautiful book. I’ll definitely be making a couple of these drinks myself.

Really lovely book and a perfect gift for any Alice in Wonderland lover - or for a themed party with Halloween not too far away now.

I really liked how the guide was laid out, with the key items and ingredients nicely detailed at the front and the much needed liqueurs at the back. The recipes seem straight forward enough to make, both the cocktails and syrups sound delicious. I'm already planning for a girl's night in.

My only little bugbear - which can be ignored if it's just an issue with the PDF download - was that I found it a little curious that the syrups had photos next to them and the cocktails didn't. So much so that a quote from the novel ran through my mind, but I'll spare us from saying it. The book is beautifully laid out and it really doesn't matter that much but as a personal preference I do like to see whatever it is I'm trying to make in this type of book.

Overall, though, I do think it's an excellent cocktail book.

With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

For fans of Alice in Wonderland this is a must have for your collection. Filled with cocktails and beautiful Alice references. I can not recommend this enough!

Delightful, playful but still very useable! I was worried they would be too complicated - in order to achieve the magic of Alice - but they are very doable for a amateaur cocktail maker (read: someone who has already drank two cocktails)

Drink Me! is a great book to get you started in making cocktails.

Part One of this book explains the popular spirits and liqueurs, their flavours, characteristics and how best used in drinks. It also covers the different types of ice, the various processes for making the cocktails, how to garnish and finally what equipment, tools and glassware should be used.

Part Two is chasing the rabbit down the hole to whip up around 25 cocktails, with each being named in some way to relate to Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, such as The Duchess's Soup and a Cup of Mad Tea. Each recipe allows you to make just one cocktail and has a little explanation in relation to the story, an ingredients list and easy steps to follow.

Part Three provides batch recipes for creating your own homemade syrups, liqueurs, infused spirits, puree & juices, fat washed spirits and dehydrating fruit. The idea of making batches of infusing rum with buttered toast or turkey and making your own dehydrated fruit in an oven sounds fun.

The main alcohol such as rum, brandy, gin or whiskey can be found in your local supermarket. However it also includes bitters and liqueurs that are more specialist and would need to be sourced online. Not all the equipment is required to begin with as they also provide simple alternatives such as egg cups or a tea strainer.

There is a helpful conversion chart at the rear, so you can used either fluid ounces or millilitres. The book has cute drawings on each page but there is no photography of the finished cocktails.

I received this book from netgalley in return for a honest review.

This is a very fun Alice in Wonderland themed Cocktails recipe book. The theming is excellent, and it's sprinkled with quotes from the story and graphics and colors that evoke the classic tale. The book starts with the basics, offering instructions about different types of liquors, different methods of mixing drinks, different garnishments, even describing the different types of glassware...so even a novice hosting their first Alice-themed party will be comfortable trying some of these offerings. Each drink recipe features a short intro describing the inspiration, and then the ingredients are listed, followed by pretty detailed instructions. Many of these are fairly complicated, but I think would fun to make with friends as part of an event or themed party. After the drink recipes, we have a section dedicated to building "stock" ingredients that are used in some of the drinks referenced in the book, but can also be used in more mainstream non-Alice themed drinks--primarily syrups. I think some of these could also be useful in hot beverages. The authors then offer instruction in making homemade liqueurs, infused spirits, fruit purees, and mixes--this might be my favorite section--I think its by far the most versatile. The Alice color scheme and graphics remain, but in this section the authors are primarily focused on helping you learn how to make great liqueurs, spirits, purees and mixes in your home. My favorites include the Orange Curacao and the Vanilla Vodka. Many of these would be great for entertaining and I thought made a terrific addition to the Alice themed cocktails, offered in the main section of the book. Overall, I thought this was a great cocktail guide, especially for someone who loves to entertain, loves Alice in Wonderland or loves fun and complex cocktails.

I really liked this book! As someone who not only enjoys drinking cocktails but also making them, I thought this book provided a ton of useful information whether you are a beginner or expect mixologist. I thought the Alice in Wonderland theme was brilliant and as I sit here on a rainy day, it is taking all of my restraint to not run to the store and get some of these ingredients to make some of these cocktails. I also really like that there are recipes for all the syrups and bases for many of the cocktails. A lot of stores sell mixers but they are loaded with chemicals and ingredients you cannot even pronounce. I like that I have the option to make every component of the cocktail from scratch so that I know exactly what is going into it. The book is easy to read and follow and I will definitely be testing out some of these recipes! I'm most excited to make "Off With Her Head!", it looks delicious!

Seeing “Alice in Wonderland” inspired drinks was expected from the title of the book. The real treat is that the book has recipes for various syrups and step-by-step instructions for mixology techniques. Ever heard of fat-washing to put flavor in an alcoholic beverage? This book talks about it. This book is a great buy for people who love the work of Lewis Carroll and for people who want to learn a little bit about making cocktails.

When the first recipe is for a cocktail entitled "Off With Her Head" I know I have stumbled into a fun book! There's also "Caterpillar's Hookah", "Curiouser and Curacao", "Cup of Mad Tea", "Painting the Roses Red", and "Beware the Jabberwocky". Really I could just keep listing them because all the cocktail titles are amazing and each one is accompanied by a quote to show just where the name came from.

The book is divided into several sections. The first is information - the different alcohols, liqueurs, and tools, at the end is batch recipes for things like sugar syrup that you can make in a large batch and then use for several different cocktails. The real fun is the 2nd section with all the different cocktail recipes. I'm a sucker for a good theme and this one is gloriously themed! I enjoyed flipping through this, reading the quotes, and seeing the different combinations for each cocktail. While I do love ordering a good cocktail at restaurants at home I'm not much of a drinker so I probably won't be making these for myself but I'm on the lookout for someone who will throw an Alice themed party and make a few of these for me! I think I'll start with a Cup of Mad Tea!

A very unique and interesting book for fans of cocktails and Alice in Wonderland, which I believe encompasses a wide range of people!

I really enjoyed this book. It contains a large number of cocktail recipes, each of which are based on a particular character or scene from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland story.

The recipes are absolutely intriguing. I like how the characters or the feelings from the book have been applied to different flavours and looks of the drinks. These are original ideas and definitely not the usual offerings in any old
bar's cocktail menu. The few I have tried are also delicious.

There is also good information in here about different glasses, techniques and ingredients needed to make the cocktails, and it is a very useful guide to people like me who have no idea what they are doing and generally just chuck things together into any old glass. It's a really great learning tool if you are interested in making 'proper' cocktails, and I like the idea they propose about having an Alice-themed cocktail party to show off your new found skills to all your friends. I have no doubt they would be thoroughly impressed.

What a beautiful Alice in wonderland themed cocktail book. The cocktail recipes sound delicious and I am sure my mixologist hubby will be making a few of them over the Christmas. Period. This book would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for someone who loves cocktails and is excited to try new recepies. Overall a beautiful little book, thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the digital advance review copy. I actually may buy my hubby the hard copy as a stocking filler..

Fabulous book that is lovely to look at and read ,a must for grown up Alice in Wonderland fans . This will be a lovely book to gift to someone ,if you can bear to part with it ,very cleverly thought out . I must confess I’ve not tried the cocktails yet as some of the ingredients may take some sourcing ( or I shall look at substitutes) I did however make one of the syrups to pour over a cake - worked beautifully. I’m not bothered that event photos of the finished cocktails that way ,like Alice you, can use your imagination to present them in a way that suits you and the occasion

Loved the uniqueness of this title. Anyone looking for a perfect coffee (or liquor) table book or those who are fans of all things Alice then this is a great addition to your collection. Some drinks might be too much for those with a smaller bar, but I think it would still be enjoyable.

Previous cocktail books confused me. I have never worked in a bar so was unfamiliar with the terms and where to get basic ingredients or how to make some of the specials mixes. This book has everything explained in easy to understand terms. The techniques section is invaluable to expand your entertaining skills. Once Perry explains how to do something he moves on in section II with cocktail recipes. Names like The Mushroom, Pig and Pepper, and Queen's Tart while whimsical look delicious and would make any party a hit. Next comes the batch recipe section that explain the basic syrups, mixes and infusions. You can not go wrong with this book it is so much more than a themed cocktail recipe book, it is a primer for learning bar tending techniques.

Thank you to by Nick Perry, Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point, and NetGalley for allowing me the extreme pleasure of access to an advanced reader copy of “Drink Me!: Curious Cocktails From Wonderland” for an honest review.

I love, love, LOVE cookbooks, and sweets books, and drink books that have a classic theme — and who more than Alice in Wonderland deserves one. This book was delightful from cover to cover. The cocktails themselves look divine in all the art we get, and they taste just as great when they are made.

This is going to be perfect for my friend who loves Alice in Wonderland and throws a tea party every year.

(My only sadness is that there weren’t any suggested “Eat Me” treats listed with each of the drinks, furthering the theme and parallel’s to the novel. It would have been so cutely done, and could easily be just as classical and contemporary. Maybe they’ll make a follow up on this?)

Nick Perry's book, Drink Me, is a refreshing and innovative book of cocktails. I loved the recipes and for all mixologists this is a book that will add some creative cocktails to your repertoire. Each recipe is fairly easy to follow and make.
The book is divided into three sections. Part one is an introductory section talking about cocktail basics with everything from equipment to garnishes to spirts. Part two is Cocktails and Part three is recipes for syrups, purees and juices, and dehydrating fruit for garnishes.
The names of the cocktails certainly were appropriate for the Alice in Wonderland theme with such drinks as Off With Her Head, Digging for Apples, Pool of Tears, White Rabbit, Cup of Mad Tea, Pig and Pepper, and The Queen's Tart.
If you like making creative cocktails, this book is for you or perhaps a gift for someone that will make the cocktails for you instead. Enjoy!

This book was so much fun! I was first pulled into this book bc i have a mad love affair for all things alice in wonderland! I havent tried all the drink recipes in this book but the ones i have tried have been wonderful! super easy to follow! I wouldnt necessarily say these are cheap drinks to make but if you have basics on hand already than its not too pricey.

This is such a fun book and one that I can totally see just having out on my coffee table for guests to leaf through. Of course, it's perfect for fans of Alice in Wonderland, but I honestly think any cocktail lover would really appreciate this one. The cocktails are all fun and whimsical, and so different than anything I've seen before.

Many of the drinks contain ingredients you likely won't have in your bar and you may have to do some hunting to find them. That's OK, though, since that obviously means these drinks are super unique and will be unlike any you or your guests have had before. There are lots of recipes for alcohol infusions here, including a cake frosting vodka and a toffee syrup... Yum!! There are also some very interesting techniques (like burning sage and using the smoke in a cocktail).

I do wish the book had photos of the actual cocktails since they're so unique-sounding and likely would be stunning to see. But for the most part, I'm totally tempted to throw an Alice in Wonderland party just so I can whip a few of these up for my friends!

I was a little bit skeptical about this when I started reading the drink recipes, as there were a lot of fancy syrups involved and I hate it when a drink looks amazing but I can't possibly find the ingredients to easily make it at home. My worries were soothed, however, when I discovered that there are straightforward recipes for each of the syrups, as well as instructions for making all of the infused vodkas the recipes include. There's also a nice little guide to various liquors at the beginning of the book for folks who aren't already well-acquainted with various types. A very nicely put together little volume.

Not your normal cocktail recipe book. This one puts a fun spin on mixing drinks. Not only do you get the cocktail recipes but you also get tips and tricks for mixing the perfect drink.

This book tosses you into the middle of Alice and Wonderland, or should. I say the hip bar there. The cocktails are crafted for the characters of the book with fun names and fun or "magical" ingredients.

This would make a great addition to any home bar and would make a fun addition to parties. There are over 20 recipes in this book to choose from or heck just try them all.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com and chose to leave this review.

I love literary themed cookbooks and cocktail books! This Alice in Wonderland themed cocktail book has lovely graphics and design. I wish I could give it five stars, but I wanted to see more pictures of the actual cocktails.

Drink Me: Curious Cocktails from Wonderland by Nick Perry and Paul Rosser offers readers a selection of twenty cocktails inspired by Alice in Wonderland as well as some cocktail bars that you might want to visit. Every page of this beautifully designed book includes charming illustrations for the completed madcap drinks .Drink Me! also includes definitive list of the "most curious cocktail bars" you need to visit, and the best ingredients to use with each recipe.

Drink Me: Curious Cocktails from Wonderland starts off with a helpful guide to spirits, including how they are made and their variety of flavors. Tools and terminology is also explained, which will make cocktail making for novices like myself have an easier time successfully creating tasty cocktails. I am not a big drinker, and rarely experiment, but the combination of literature, whimsy, and alcohol made me want to try out this book. I like that everything is laid out and explained, so I have no surprises once I get started making the recipes. Not all of the recipes help appeal to me, in fact the idea of an "Off With Her Head" made me cringe because of the flavors it was described as having, but very next recipe (The Golden Afternoon) sounded very tasty. Like any recipe book, some results might take some practice and others are hits right off the bat. The batch recipes were the most interesting to me, since simple syrups and liqueurs can be used in a wide variety of recipes. I think this is a great way for novices to explore drink making, and those already experienced to expand their repertoire. An ideal book for those planning a themed dinner or cocktail party, or that simply want to learn to make these drinks and those like them.

I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a neat little book and the drink recipes look really intriguing. They also look somewhat involved.
The author does a great job of relating each drink to the story of Alice in Wonderland and each one has it's own explanation. The process used, the materials, and the garnish are all explained really well. There are some really interesting ingredients...some I'm not sure that I would ever have in a drink (Turkey vodka) but I definitely wouldn't say no if someone were to put the drink in front of me to try.

It was very creative and I would recommend for any bartender or drink enthusiast looking for something a bit on the wild side.

If you are an Alice in Wonderland fan and also love unique cocktails, this is the book for you. Each drink has clear instructions and a full list of ingredients so it's easy and fun to try to recreate at home. Everything ties in so well with the theme and feels like it is extension of Carroll's book. The only thing that this book needs is a small section in the back called "Eat Me" with snacks.

A must for mixologists who have a fondness for Alice in Wonderland. This book inspired me to host an Alice in Wonderland themed party and I am certain you will want to do the same because some of these cocktails are amazing!

This was a fun book to read and the premise is original. However the drinks are overly complicated and I would probably not be making any drinks included. The authors do include a lot of information on cocktails. I would have liked to have seen some illustrations of the fancy drinks. This book would make a nice gift for an Alice in Wonderland fan. Enjoy
