Description
Single-serve cooking is one of the biggest challenges when trying to adhere to an eating plan. Most recipes are portioned for 4–6 servings, which means you’ll be eating the same thing for a week or trying to adjust recipes and struggling to figure out proper cooking times and fractions of measurements. With keto, you also have the additional challenge of balancing your macronutrients—a few too many carbs or not enough fat and your recipe is no longer in the ketogenic zone.
No more fussing with recipes. No more eating leftovers. No more wasted food (or money!). No more cobbling together snacks and calling it a meal. No more temptation to give into carb-laden, nutrient-void, single-serving convenience foods. Just delicious recipes from "low-carb queen" and best-selling author Dana Carpender. Enjoy delicious keto burgers and smoothies, as well as quick skillet stir-fries and plenty of tasty meals that can be pulled together quickly or ahead of time.

I love how everything is simple in this book. Sometimes I want to make things that are only for myself and 1 other person, even though we are a family of 4. Great explanation and giving some brand names in the beginning of this book. This is the only Keto cookbook I've seen that mentions Natural Mate stevia! There are some things that I didn't even think of doing like make my own Bread-Butter Pickles from using a store bought jar of sour dill pickles. I look forward to making some of these recipes.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book is great! I loved that it was based on recipes mostly for one person. (There are some recipes for two). The were the usual fare - chicken, eggs, etc. However, I was really impressed by the condiments sections. There were so many options with regular ingredients that could be found in a regular grocery store. Seriously, the Alfredo Sauce recipe is going to change my life! There were even a few alcoholic recipes which sounded pretty good. My only wish is for more pictures, but it's a small book - so I won't be too critical. While this book is Keto-based, I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for simple, tasty recipes.
**I received this book from the publisher for an honest review.**
I feel that this is a very good guide for someone who is or wants to lead a keto lifestyle. I've been researching keto quite a bit and while I want to do it my family doesn't want to so this would be a great go to book for me to follow. Love the info it provides and the pictures to go along with the recipes are fantastic! Great book for those just starting their keto journey or for those already fully immersed in it.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Finally a cookbook that explains the keto diet in simple terms. As an added bonus, this book has recipes geared towards one or two people, which is very difficult to find and great for empty nesters. Unfortunately some ingredients can only be purchased at a health store or order them online. That means you must plan recipes ahead of time. Overall, this book would be easy enough to incorporate into your own diet.
I received an arc from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
The author starts out the book by stating what the Keto diet is, how it can be misused, and how it should be used. (Buttered coffee is Keto, but it can lead to weight gain if used constantly!) These recipes are mostly stove top and skillet - inspired for ease of preparation.
The author suggests getting small amounts of ingredients from salad bars, frozen vegetables and cauliflower rice, and the use of small bagged fresh vegetables in order to eliminate the waste of unused food.
You will be introduced to a list of usable sweeteners, the various uses of coconut milk, and the uses of oils and butters.
There is a good selection of egg recipes - from the Chicken- Spinach - Feta Sausage omelet to the Club Omelet and the Harissa Poached Eggs that use easily sourced ingredients and they are easy to prepare. The Hot Chia Cereal uses chia seeds, egg yolks, coconut milk and toffee - flavored Stevia!
The Quick and Easy Mexican Soup recipe uses chicken broth, salsa, cooked chicken, Monterey Jack Cheese and it only takes 5 minutes to cook! The Salad Bar Unpotato Salad uses cauliflower, hard boiled eggs, onion, celery and mayo to create a rich tasting meal or side dish without starch!
There are some chicken and beef - inspired Rice A Phony recipes that use cauliflower rice, mushroom and bouillon which will satisfy your cravings for casserole type dishes.
The Steak and Blue Cheese Salad recipe uses steak, lettuce, tomatoes, and blue cheese to create an easy lunch.
The Boursin and Olive Stuffed Chicken Breast recipe is cooked in a skillet snd the oven broiler, and it is an elegant dinner that takes an hour or less to prepare!
There are even desserts, such as Chocolate Peanut Butter No Bakes that use coconut, peanut butter and cocoa powder to create a cookie-like desert.
Enjoy easy Keto cooking!
The Keto For One Cookbook is great for beginners or intermediate to the Keto diet. Easy to use and understand.
This would be a very helpful guide to a person just starting keto and needing to not get overwhelmed by the unnecessary waste and cost many newbies might incur because they aren’t used to cooking a new way for 1 person. A lot of info without being overwhelming.
Such an amazing, no nonsense approach to Keto that I’ve really been looking for. From an introduction that explains the whole keto process and the rules to follow to the recipes that are amazingly easy to follow means this is the one stop book for new and old keto dieters.
The Keto For One Cookbook definitely lived up to my expectations. It is often hard to cook healthy for once person and this cook book has so many great recipes in it. Not only that , there is great information regarding what a Keto Diet is. There is great information about total or net carbs which can be confusing to someone just starting out on the Keto diet.
Additionally the information regarding sweeteners and sugar alcohols was so helpful and written in a clear and concise way in which a beginner or a novice could understand.
The recipes are great and I especially enjoyed the section on Main Dish Salads.
Highly recomend this book to anyone interested in the Keto Diet or looking for more information on low carb living.
A lot of good recipes easily explained and for each its photo, I was absolutely delighted. Sometimes it is not easy to find all the ingredients but this is by far one of the best cooking book of the year in my opinion!
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!
This cookbook was very helpful to me as I just started to follow a loosely keto diet. There were many great tips at the beginning to help me especially when I go shopping as to what I should look for and buy at the grocery store. There were some great recipes and tips to go along with the recipes for meals to prepare in small amounts for one or two people. I tried a couple of them and they turned out really good. I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in preparing smaller keto-friendly meals as opposed to feeding a large family. Great tips and pictures of most of the recipes post-prep.
Great tips in the beginning of this cookbook. Pictures are always an added plus, which this cookbook has plenty of. The recipes are clear and precise. A great addition for anyone who follows the Keto diet. I am always trying to find dessert recipes, and the snacks and sweets section will satisfy my husbands sweet tooth. The coffee section is right up my alley. So many recipes to try!
Very impressed with this book. The recipes are very straight forward and are very easy to follow, so it would be very difficult for even a novice to go wrong here. Author also provides an excellent explanation of the Keto diet.
Things I liked:
- The measurements were also in gram
- A lot of entrées
- Index based on ingredient
Things I didn't like:
- 30 variations on an omelet
- Using products that are only available in the US
- Cooking frozen riced cauliflower (really? The instructions are on the packaging if you need it.)
- Cooking vegetables is not a meal, it is part of a meal (ex. parmesan beans...)
- Most recipes high in kcal
The Keto for One Cookbook by Dana Carpender
100 Delicious Make-Ahead, Make-Fast Meals for One (or Two) That Make Low-Carb Simple and Easy
In the introduction to this cookbook I finally found out the math used to determine how many protein, fat and carb grams one should have daily when doing a Keto diet. Instead of starting with calories one starts with desired weight and how many protein grams based on that weight to eat, add in 20 carb grams and the rest is fat. That said...there is a LOT more fat in these recipes than most weight loss diets. I have tried low carb diets in the past for periods of time and they do work so having an arsenal of good recipes for variety is important. This is NOT a diet you would want to follow if you want quantities of fruit, veg, carbs and milk but it is a diet that many thrive on.
The book is broken into chapters that include: an introduction; keto for one or two; eggs, dairy and such; soups and sides; main dish salads; drinkables; condiments and sauces.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press for the ARC – This is my honest review
5 Stars
Loved the simplicity of these recipes and the ideas on using ingredients in such small amounts when cooking for yourself. Nothing too complicated either as well all know the last thing you want when cooking for yourself is something with multiple steps, lots of prep or crazy rare ingredients.
Nice book on Keto. Includes a basic introduction to the keto diet. The recipes look easy, but tasty (I didn't try any myself) and were accompanied by some very nice photography.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title!

I received a free ARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley. Overall this was a good book. A variety of recipes, easy to follow instructions, ability to do more than one serving of them. I can't wait to try out so many of these recipes. Several recipie on my to do list on the very soon list. A good addition to someone doing keto on their own.
I think the concept of a keto cookbook with recipes for one or two will be great for many people, not just those who are single. It had good introductory information and a variety of appealing recipes. I think the sauces and condiments section will allow for more flexibility since they can be used to enhance a number of dishes.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I'm well versed in the challenge of cooking for one and kicked off a blog in the New Year. The author certainly seems to appreciate those challenges but I have reservations about her approach to solving them. She makes heavy use of buying very small quantities at "the salad bar". E.g a single cup of coleslaw mix or a handful of cooked chicken pieces. Economics aside, I'm not sure that we have such a thing in the UK. I guess the nearest thing is the deli bar....
The author has a folksy, conversational writing style. For better or worse, depending on your personal preference, It's rather like reading a blog-book. I quite like it.
There's a very good and thorough introduction to a keto diet. The recipes are down-home and plentiful. The author seems extremely well-versed in keto-diet eating. Nutritional information is included.; just the odd photo though
This is a fantastic book! I love the recipes and the concept of cooking for just my husband and I instead of the kids and my in-laws as well. Sometimes the kids are eating something we prefer not to so this will be a great resource to refer to.
A great book for beginners who live alone, with a spouse, or don't want to force the rest of the family to eat keto! The recipes look delicious and I can't wait to try some of these mouthwatering meals.
Easy to follow recipes that actually turn out as good as they look. I found myself utilizing this book more than once when planning menus for the week.
Has some nice recipes and explains what Keto is in the beginning of the book.
What I didn’t like about this book was the buying instructions. Only “one-portion” sized foods for one meal at a time. Keto is supposed to be “clean” eating and buying pre-packaged, smaller sizes will have added ingredients that are not Keto friendly.
Also a lot of fish/sea food recipes. Not fond of those.
I did like the Chia recipes.
I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.
Coming from a person that has enjoyed the benefits of living the keto way of life for over two years, this book is great for a beginner, or anyone really, looking to expand their repertoire beyond the typical meat and veggie plate.
A novice often believes that keto is the same as Atkins or eating a carnivore diet consisting of a mostly fatty meat meal plan. The recipes in this book successfully show that there is far more variety available.
Nearly everything can be prepared in a keto friendly manner and these wonderfully illustrated recipes prove that point nicely.
The fact that the recipes are geared towards making meals for one is a novel idea and will definitely benefit those that are pursuing keto on their own.
My only complaint is that many of the recipes include processed foods which is counterintuitive to keto and I would expect the author to know better.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I enjoyed reading this book. Lots of interesting ideas. Great for one person! Unfortunately. I live in the Marshall Islands with 2 grocery stores and no salad bars and often no fresh produce, so this will be a challenge. I am growing some of my own veggies now to eat healthier. But still I think I can use a lot of the recipes. Great explanations. 4 stars
This cookbook is very useful for those who want to do keto, but only cook for themselves. I am on a ketogenic diet, but am the only one in our household that follows it. I frequently have to scale down recipes to make meals for myself. This cookbook has recipes that are only for one or two people, so it takes out the extra step.
This cookbook includes all types of recipes like soups, salads, sides, hot entrees, drinks, and desserts. I definitely recommend this for anyone following keto that needs recipes for one or two.
What a great little gem of a book this is. If you are a single person, or just find yourself on your own occasionally, this book has some great ideas and delectable, easy recipes to keep your hunger at bay.
The recipes are simple and easy and can extend to two if you so desire. Nutrition notes are at the end of each recipe and great tips and info for the recipes are also included.
Only a short 101 page book but it is surely packed with so much info and choices that it will be a definite book for hubby and I.
Thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group - Fair Winds Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I wish there were more cookbooks like this, not just for a ketogenic lifestyle, but in general. Sometimes people are single and need recipes for one, or sometimes people are the only ones in their house eating a particular way and this takes the guesswork out of downsizing a recipe and makes it easy to feed one person. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer. I do love that there is a section of sauces at the end. I am especially excited about the cheese sauce to pour over broccoli, cauliflower or whatever else. I thought it was a little heavy on the egg recipes but most Keto cookbooks are. I definitely hope there is an extended version or part 2 in the near future with even more great recipes for one!
The whole keto diet ideal is relatively new to me. After hearing a lot from friends I admit to being intrigued and this cookbook is my first foray into exploring the subject. As someone that enjoys cooking and is a self proclaimed cookbook junkie, I found this to be a likable and welcome addition to my collection. A wide range of recipes, many attractive pictures, easy to follow directions and a very informative look into what the keto diet is and how it works, makes this book a great combination of practical and enjoyable. Having recipes that are curated for one to two people is a real plus as there are no endless leftovers or trying to successfully convert the recipe yourself. An excellent choice for anyone looking into going keto or those already living that way that just want a new collection of recipes to try out.
Music to my heart is this book! I’ve been trying (and mostly succeeding) to lose weight via a low-carb diet for several months now, but oh, how difficult it is to find recipes and techniques for just one person! This superb book not only gives recipes that work for one, but the author’s introductory pages are full of tips on where and how to buy appropriate quantities and/or how to store items appropriately in small quantities where ‘buying small’ may not be possible.
I would, in fact, recommend this book based just on the introductory explanations of all things keto or low-carb diet related and the tips pages. The author takes an informal no-nonsense style, busting some of the common myths about ketogenic or low-carb diets (the two being almost but not quite the same thing, as is easily understood from the explanations). I was immensely relieved to find I really could drink no-cal, no-carb artificially-sweetened drinks, where purists had previously announced that these weren’t ‘allowed’ (says who?). Yes, I like cold water but on ultra-thirst-making hot days, there’s nothing quite like a fizzy lemonade and alleluia, I can have it! Dana you’re my hero.
Have waxed lyrical about the introductory chapter, there follows what look like some really yummy recipes in all the usual categories that you would expect of any recipe book. There is excellent photography, although my only slightly negative comment is that I would love to have seen pictures of all the recipes; however, there are still quite a large number of photos.
I shall most certainly be purchasing this book in ‘real’ form for myself, after having surveyed this electronic copy, and I have no doubt it will be well thumbed by this time next year!
Found this useful for me as I live alone. I found enough delicious meals to make. Easy to make and easy clean up . Sometimes I get more than one meal out of what I made.
Good book, with lots of ideas, will definitely be useful to dip in and out of for recepie ideas. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance review city.
I chose to read this book because I need to radically improve my nutrition and have now started on a low carb diet. So a recipe book for one person made a lot of sense to me, as variety of tastes is one of the things that really make a difference when you are pursuing s long term weight loss strategy.
I enjoyed the common sense explanation at the front of the book which lays out exactly what and why a ketogenic diet is and also contains some useful suggestions for cooking oils and other cooking susbstances which advance the low carb diet.
The recipes are simple and straightforward and gave me some good ideas to vary the tastes for my palate. Lots of eggs, unsurprisingly, but also making lots of flavours and different textures. I found out about mayonnaise with MCT (coconut) oil and how to make chocolate-peanut butter no bakes. Sounds fab, I know, but Dana Carpender is no novice to this style of eating and cooking. Her sweet treats section comes with a stern warning: “.
Overall, though it is quite American in approach, I think this is a really useful recipe book to use in conjunction with your own calorie counting and carb watching regime. I’ll certainly be trying out more of these recipes as I go along.
This was a good keto cookbook. My only beef is that it is pretty short. The tips for buying portions for 1 seemed pretty outlandish to me and it made me feel like to be keto I needed to live quite close to a grocery store and go often. This is fine if you live in a large city, but if you don’t I may struggle to implement these. I do like the idea of just having a cookbook for one since there are plenty of single people or people who are the only person following a plan in a house.
This cookbook makes doing the keto lifestyle simple and delicious. The recipes are simple to follow and are not boring at all. Cant wait to try out more recipes from this cook book. a must read for all ketogenic lifestyle enthusiasts and ones that are curious about keto
Dana Carpender has been practicing and writing about Keto for many years, even before Keto became the thing. Dana wrote about managing diabetes, insulin resistance and low carb recipes. Dana is an expert with personal and practical knowledge. Her latest book Keto for One Cookbook is super helpful for singles, couples or those that are making it on their own following a Keto diet in a family. Helpful tips, keto pantry essentials and easy to follow recipes are part of this book. Another wonderful addition to the Dana Carpender list of books and library.
I've been doing keto for about a week now and have ditched carbs, I feel better, but I'm also lost and not sure what to eat besides bacon and chicken breast. This book explained a bit more about keto to help me understand what exactly is going on and how keto works. I now am more confident and excited to continue to keto diet. Another challenge that I faced that is addressed in this book is that it's recipes for one. This is exactly what I was looking for and I'm so thankful to have found this book. I'll definitely be recommending this to new and existing people who are on the keto diet.
A great cookbook. The book starts out with a brief overview of the Keto diet, then going into detail about keto friendly ingredients to use for cooking. This is excellent for beginners.
A lot of the recipes have pictures with them, which I love. It helps me have a visual of the end product.
The recipes range from basic to a bit more advanced. I love the concept of keto for one. Easy to follow instructions which include easy to find ingredients.
I will recommend this to all of my keto friends.
This cookbook pleasantly surprised me. The beginning text had me prepared for coconut and stevia heavy based recipes in the forthcoming pages but I was thrilled to see that wasn't the case. I found the recipes to be incredibly accessible. However, I was quite confused to find so many references to picking up a smattering of veggies off a salad bar - something that's not only not feasible for most people but it's extremely cost prohibitive. Many veggies can be frozen so if you really want carrots, pull one from the freezer and grate as necessary, I suppose - but with keto, I would rather do without all together. The tips for making the dishes in single portions left me wanting. I also found the book in general to be too veggie heavy with little emphasis on fat. I was hoping for more protein focused dishes and how to make that occasionally difficult fat target satisfied with fattier cuts of meat. It was nice to see cuts of pork I'd never known how to cook and I would have loved to see that extended to beef, lamb, chicken, fish, etc. The variety was lacking a little but I suppose that has much to do with my seasoned veteran keto lens and the flavor profiles should satisfy any basic keto cook.
I was so excited to be granted an opportunity to review this book since 1) I'm not sure what the keto diet is, and 2) I definitely prefer cooking for 1 to limit meal repetition/waste. I thought keto was super specific, but this book clarified it for me (any diet low enough in carbs to burn fat as source of fuel). It was a bit too much information to read/retain, but I know other readers may have better retention (I blame Netflix!) The recipes seem simple enough and slightly new (frozen riced cauliflower?!, wasabi crab salad lettuce wraps, grilled flanken?) that make me excited to try. My only wish is that the book be laid out in a more modern way (typesetting, graphic design) since sometimes it was difficult for me to scan through. But then again, it forces me to pay attention, so that's not a bad thing :) I liked this book as a 'keto starter' and plan to try the recipes/ingredients new to me since I'm bored eating chicken/turkey for weeks straight!
I really liked this book! Dana cuts through the long drawn out explanations and gets right to the point. I've read books like this and to be honest skipped through a lot of it but not this one. Full color pictures and great recipes! Anyone starting Keto needs to have this book. I'm buying a copy of this one!
The Keto For One Cookbook is great for beginners or those who are looking for some new recipes. I love that the recipes are designed for one person (or two people) and the author also gives lots of suggestion on how to get the ingredients you need in small amounts (such as the salad bar, buy frozen vegetables, etc). The author explains the basics of the Keto diet in an easy to understand way and then provides a variety of recipes for sides, main meals, soups, snacks, sweets, condiments, sauces and even drinks! Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Amazing ketosis cookbook. Can't wait to try so many of these recipes and have more of a variety of food on keto.
The Keto For One. Fun easy to read cookbook. Great to have ingredients in grams for the UK readers. I always like cookbooks for one as it is easier to bulk up if needed.. The reciepes look straightforward with ingredients that are easy to fine. I am looking forward to trying these out.
This book had great tips with recipes that were clear and easy to follow. Will definitely be trying out many of the recipes!
Thank you Netgalley for an early copy of The Keto For One Cookbook, in exchange for an honest review.
I am a big fan of a healthy lifestyle and Keto diet and am always looking for new recipes and the fact that this book caters to one or two people instead of a family was very appealing. Dana Carpender begins with an overview of the diet and its origins then dives into her recipes. She covers all the major meals with additions for snacks, desserts and even a few cocktails thrown in for good measure. The recipes all include tips and tricks along with the nutritional facts. The offerings are a little more on the simple side but sound delicious and I am excited to try a few of the options.
This is a pretty standard keto cookbook. Overall, I enjoyed it and think it is a cookbook that many would also enjoy
The things I loved:
-Nutritional facts- surprisingly many cookbooks completely, and unfortunately, omit these.
-Pictures- there were pictures for roughly half of the recipes. I enjoyed browsing the pictures for each that contained one.
-Helpful notes and "extras" throughout
-The desserts looked delicious
The things I didn't love:
-I was hard-pressed to find a main course that actually looked or sounded good to me. There were a lot of expensive and/or ethnic ingredients. And overall just a lot of meats that I don't care for. I think this is a personal preference though so I did not take away any stars due to this.
-It would have been nice to have more pictures. I don't feel like I can complain when half the book has them but I prefer when ever recipe has one. Call me picky but I'm a tired mom who doesn't have the creative energy to translate the words of a recipe into a picture, so I need a picture in order to convince me to make it.
This is a really useful little book, whether you’re familiar with or new to keto principles. Dana Carpender explains how it works and there are useful tips about buying food, preparation, use of sweetners etc.
I like the fact that the majority of the recipes are very easy to prepare and cook, but they’re also tasty. For anyone wanting to really kick carbs into touch, there’s enough variety here, with simple to find ingredients that will keep you on track. Many of the recipes can be doubled up for two ( or more) to follow and there are also many which could be served with pasta, potatoes or rice, for example, for family members who aren’t on keto.
Well thought out and a great starter book. My thanks to the publisher for a review copy via Netgalley.
Another great Keto book, Keto for One really focuses on how to make those meals for just the one person that taste good and anyone can make.
Well written and easy to follow, I enjoyed the recipes that I tried and was reminded that with the Keto diet, one is filled up and doesn't need giant portions to feel full.
So unless you're living on the moon, there's a good chance you've heard of Keto. I'll admit I could lose some weight and have considered looking into Keto. But having a family and knowing that they wouldn't be eating with me, makes it difficult to consider cooking big recipes that I would eat for a week by myself. So when I saw this cookbook "The Keto for One Cookbook", I thought it might be the answer!
Starting with the cover, it's visually appealing with several pictures of the recipes inside. As you first get into the cookbook, the author has given a nice easy explanation of Keto in the Introduction. The first chapter is dedicated to preparing for Keto Cooking with lots of information on how and what to buy. Chapter 2 thru 8 gives us the recipes!
Here is the Table of Contents:
INTRODUCTION What is a Keto Diet?
CHAPTER 1 Keto Cooking for One (or Two)
CHAPTER 2 Eggs, Dairy, and the Like
CHAPTER 3 Soups and Sides
CHAPTER 4 Main Dish Salads
CHAPTER 5 Hot Entrées
CHAPTER 6 Snacks and Sweets
CHAPTER 7 Drinkables
CHAPTER 8 Condiments and Sauces
Now for the recipes! Not all recipes have photos, but the ones that do, look delicious and tempting. Each recipe is set up with ingredients, directions, and nutritional information. Recipe pages are clean, clear and concise without overly complicated ingredients or instructions.
Here are several recipes I have bookmarked to try:
SHAKSHUKA
CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP WITH POACHED EGGS
SOPA MEXICANA, RÁPIDO Y FÁCIL
CURRIED CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP
GINGER-LIME CHICKEN SALAD
LATE SUMMER SALAD
SOUTHWESTERN TUNA ON AVOCADO WITH CHIPOTLE CREMA
LIME SALMON WITH LIME-CHIPOTLE CREMA
SCALLOP SHIRATAKI WITH SUN-DRIED TOMATOES AND PINE NUTS
Overall I liked the layout of this cookbook and the recipes did seem to be fairly easy to cook. Obviously, if you wanted to double or triple the recipe amounts for more than one, most of the recipes would be easily converted. I would definitely recommend this cookbook to anyone who may want to try Keto, or who is on Keto but are looking for some new variety in their recipes.
I liked Dana’s style in writing and found her knowledgeable and friendly but the recipes were less so. There were certainly some real staple recipes in there but there were quite a few not to my liking, which is obviously just down to taste.
The recipes have clearly been thought out and consideration has gone into each of them. I think anyone truly trying to follow Leto diet would do well to use this book.
I’m loving this book and the easy to follow recipes and ideas. It’s a beginner book for sure. Nothing too complicated. If you’re already skilled in all things keto then this book might not be fore you. The recipes are sometimes just ideas of what to grab at the salad bar to make a “meal”. Macro counts are included. Tips on what to get at the store to make a easy and quick meal are in there too. Overall, I’m enjoying this book and all of the tips and tricks.
I can always appreciate a cookbook that caters to those who live on their own and aren't looking to make a meal for a family of five.
So I really enjoyed this cookbook alot especially for one person. The only thing I would recommend, as I am visual Person was to see more photos attached to some of the recipes. But overall I really the Keto Recipes and now I can make my own dressings, ketchup (yes ketchup fan here). So I would recommend this to anyone willing to make their own food at home. Just make sure to double for other people too.
Sure to be popular with the current craze of ketogenic diet followers. Single people will appreciate the downsized recipes and tips on grocery shopping to avoid tons of leftover produce and other ingredients that frustrate the solo home chef who doesn't want to eat cabbage for five straight days. Easy, accessible recipes and lots of pictures.
Very dense and so much information - while valuable was a little challenging to navigate. I do with the pictures were a bit more engaging.
As a single person, I struggle with most cookbooks. Even when the recipes are amazing, I don't necessarily want to be eating the same thing for several meals in a row. This book is not only a great introduction to the keto approach, but it is tailored specifically to people like me who are cooking for one person at most meals. Can't wait to try the recipes!
One of the biggest challenges when attempting to adjust your diet in any household is how to cook to suit the needs of everyone. Just because I want to try keto should to require that everyone in my household does but balancing multiple meals can be difficult in any busy household.
The Keto for One cookbook is a huge help in cooking for me and being able to fit it into the broader meals for the remainder of the family. The recipes are easy to follow and quite tasty. .
Perfect cookbook! I always have a hard time with recipes since I’m only cooking for myself. Recipes easy to follow and delicious
The Keto For One Cookbook is probably one of the most thoroughly researched and organized specialty diet cookbooks I’ve had the privilege to read. I truly enjoyed everything about it! The recipes are tasty and easy to follow, the pictures of the meals are beautiful and enticing, and the overall organization of the book makes it easy to follow.
The author, Dana Carpender, begins this cookbook by clearly explaining what a keto diet is and how to successfully navigate the basics of the diet. She thoroughly explains how to determine how much fat to eat, the necessary percentage of fat to calories, and how to easily calculate your carb intake. I found this section to be very valuable for beginners, as well as for those who have more experience with the keto diet.
Next, the author shares many wonderful and valuable ideas about the varied essential ingredients necessary to the keto diet and the importance of keeping these ingredients in stock. She discusses the importance of different sweeteners, sugar alcohols, liquid sweeteners, guard gum, MCT oil, and sugar free chocolate chips, just to name a few. All of these different ingredients will make a difference in both the taste and the quality of these keto recipes. I found this section to be quite an eye opening experience and I learned so much about these ingredients. I wasn’t familiar with some of these ingredients and I’m so glad the author did such a wonderful job explaining them all.
I also enjoyed the authors tips on how to save money and how to avoid leftovers by purchasing some of the ingredients at a grocery store’s salad bar. The cookbook is divided into eight chapters with a great selection and variety of delicious recipes to choose from. There are also a lot of beautiful pictures showing how these recipes will look when completed. I found the cookbook easy to read with recipes that are easy to make and clear and concise step by step instructions. The author includes so many different and valuable tips and ideas that ensure a successful and delicious outcome. I enjoyed making many of these recipes and I found it easy to make minor changes (to accommodate my preferences/health issues) that still resulted in a delicious recipe. I enjoyed the many extra tips and recommendations that are useful to any recipe or diet.. The author’s enthusiasm about the keto diet and these 100 recipes is clearly evident by the thoroughly researched and well rounded selection of delicious recipes that are found in this cookbook. This cookbook has something for everyone and I highly recommend it!! I know I’ll be using this cookbook and referring to it often and I look forward to enjoying many more delicious meals! Enjoy!
I would like to thank the author and publisher for a free copy of this cookbook through NetGalley in exchange for my honest, unbiased review.
A great cookbook with simple-to-cook and quick recipes. I continue to remake recipes because my husband, who is very picky, likes them
What a great cookbook! The material is well written and presented in an easy to follow manner. I look forward to trying out several of these recipes.
I had heard of the Keto diet, and when I saw this book I thought it was ideal to get to know some recipes. The author begins by explaining the diet, then moving to the recipes, ranging from entrees, desserts, snacks and many more, along with tips and tricks.
I'll actually cook some recipes from the book!
This was a helpful cookbook for those new to Keto with small families. I've read a lot of Keto of cookbooks so I didn't find anything ground breaking in this one however.
I am the only one in my family of 5 giving this keto diet a go. This book is perfect! I love that I can make stuff just for me and not have a zillion leftovers that I know nobody in my house would eat, even though they are delicious. Great pictures which is a must have in any cookbook. Thank you, NetGalley, for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review!
I cannot say enough how much I love this book. The only complaint I have is that it was too short. I have been cooking for one for over 12 years now, and it is hard to find the perfect cookbook with great recipes that do not leave you with a ton of leftovers. At the moment I am staying with family, and they do not do the Keto lifestyle. This is a terrific way to let them have their own food with me having mine too. The recipes are delicious and easy to make. One of my favorites is the ketchup. That may sound crazy, but I have to have it. This will be a go-to book for me! Thank you to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
GREAT for people who live alone and want to focus on healthy options! Lots of single-serve foods are very unhealthy.
Love how many of these are just for one person! So many times when dieting, only one person in the family is eating that way, or if you’re cooking for a single, this makes it way easier!
It's a really great book to find those perfect meal sizes for one person. I'd highly recommend it to someone that's looking to reduce their sugar intake, or even someone interested in the Keto Diet that either may live alone or is trying to tackle their health journey on their own.
