Description
Lauren Riley is a passionate dreamer who thinks she is on a path leading to the American Dream. She marries Richard Becker, ambitious and driven, believing he is the key to the happy life she longs for. Through years of struggling with depression and self-doubt, Lauren comes to realize that marriage, and Rich, are draining her in ways she is not sure she will survive. In her loneliest moments, Lauren meets a like-minded soul in a Facebook group. Her long-distance friendship with Zander slowly reveals to Lauren the kind of love she has been longing for. Lauren's journal, spanning fifteen years, chronicles her struggle with the painful decision of being loyal to her husband or following her own reckless heart.

Lauren is in a relationship with a man who is emotionally abusive unless he is totally controlling her life. When she realizes that she has a chance at happiness, she breaks free. Liberating read.

▪️MY THOUGHTS
✔️This was a short but pretty heavy book. I read the first half of the book very quickly. We learn about the start of their relationship and how it progressively becomes more emotionally draining. The book was written as a journal, there were a lot of poetic passages - although they were beautifully written left me just wanting to get back to the story. It was sad to see how this relationship impacted this family and I was invested in knowing the outcome. The cover is also gorgeous, it’s what initially caught my eye. Please note the following trigger warnings; emotional abuse, depression & infidelity.

Love Letters was beautifully poetic. You can feel the heartache of the main character Lauren and see her slowly finding her own. I went from angry to sad and finally happy as the story progressed. You could see her character develop from small, timid and blinded to finding her true self and her spirit. I was captivated from the beginning and couldn’t put it down. The ending was perfect!
