WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?
This is easily one of the greatest books I've ever come across. Aurora is not only a young woman with a good head on her shoulders, she also has an amazing support group: her family. You don't see a lot of heroines with good families, but in this case, the Laheys are amazingly unique and tight-knit. They look out for their own. She's a bit eccentric and can possibly be a pain to some people (I am so sorry, Matty) but I also love her personality. Don't change lol.
Aside from Aurora's beautiful family, she has the Hex Boys to deal with, and I love her initial reaction of them. They're a group of hot guys doused in mystery and seduction, but she's immune to them (well except one...). Instead of swooning over their hottie-tottie looks, she believes the worst and fights against the inevitable. And the boys... I love how close knit they are with each other as well. It's just not something I come across a lot, you know? I like the comfortable familiarity they ooze and how everything just flows with them.
This book has a lot of amazing bonds between friends and families, and how even with horrid things like demons coming along to kill you for the greater good, one can still have a life of happiness and laughs (thanks Blake). The story flowed, the dialogue was epic with wit and silly humor, and who doesn't love hunky guys with contrasting personalities and a girl who can actually set a good role model for other quirky girls?
A fast paced fun read, interesting characters and a nice story, I look forward to future books and seeing where this story is going to go.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
this was a fun scifi romance novel, the characters were interesting and the premise was solid. I had a lot of fun reading this one.
I cannot wait until the sequel comes out! I loved this book! Demons at Deadnight has to be the most addictive read out there. I was so captivated from the beginning that I could NOT put the book down! The main character at the beginning of the story has to move back to her town where she began her school career (kindergarten). There she meets up with some hunky guys known as the Hex boys. There is supernatural thrills and even a budding romance. Perfect for twilight fans—but no vampires.
This book is so ridiculously funny, Aurora and the Hex boys are such an entertaining group to read about.
a real fun to read book aboput a chaotic teenager who sees demons and with the help of her friends destroys them A bit of romance is also included
I received a complimentary copy of Demons at Deadnight from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I can't get enough of this series! Fast paced, overflowing with drama, adventure and emotion--this was only the first one and I loved it. The author's sense of humor and amusing dialogue create and allow light-hearted fun even with such a seemingly dark subject matter. (Both the thoughts of the main character, Aurora, or conversation between the teenage demon hunters and authentic and hilarious!). I already read an excerpt from the second book and cannot wait for the next installment!!!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
Fantastic paranormal read with humor and action. Aurora was very likable and the Hex Boys were too, even Matthias grew on me. Each have their own powers and individuality. Story was well paced and end well with an open ending for the next book. Book was not scary but along the line of a Buffy-ish style. My first by A. Kirk writing team but it won't be my last!
I loved this. It was so fun to read and super engrossing. And the whole idea and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat. I have long since gotten to book 3 and patiently waiting for book 4 whenever it comes out because book 3 came out in 2015!! *gasp*
And I read the first book in 2020 even though I had this arc. Smh. I loved this for its fast-pacedness, the coolness and still being original because of the writing.
Want book 4!!!!
I love the premise of this book. As a mood reader, it took me longer than I’d have liked to get to the point where I can write this review but I’m glad I gave Demons at Deadnight a chance. I’m going to do this bullet-point style for the sake of brevity.
What did I like about Demons at Deadnight?
- It was so fun. I was smiling and/or laughing for a fair portion of the story, which I loved.
- The characters. First of all, the BOYS. It would be a struggle to not adore them, so I’m glad I don’t have to. Aurora was also a solid main character!
- The romance. I’m a romance reader before anything, so this was an important box to tick and I’m glad it did.
- worth a mention a second time: the Hex boys!!
What did I not love?
- how long it took me to really get into it & STAY into it. There was a lot of starting and stopping for me.
That said, I think my reading mood played the largest part in my inability to get hooked. I’m thinking upon re-reads (which I will be able to do because I did purchase this book!) I’ll be even more fond of this story.
Overall, Demons at Deadnight was so incredibly fun with the best characters! I’ll be rereading when I can and continuing onto book 2….because I can’t help myself :)
