Very inspirational for those who need a boost in tidying up their homes. The work breaks down each room, and then suggestions for where to start in each space. Highly recommended and definitely a good jumping off point!
A big thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This book is organized well, and the concepts are straightforward. Pretty common sense ideas but if you need tips these are practical ones. Some are maybe a bit outdated like stacking pans. With today's coated pans this is probably not the best option. It did give me some ideas which were helpful. I rate this a 3.
Not only is this book for of tips on how to keep your home tidy but also when you are traveling. The author provides so many good tips on how to keep your home tidy. I really enjoyed the tips for the kitchen- I feel as though that is always a "problem" room! The author also provides a break down of steps to do in order to prepare for hosting your own party, going to a party, planning your budget for the year, planning your move and more. I thought back to when I moved about 1.5 years ago and how I tried to break it down into steps and have a list for myself- I definitely could have used the tips found in this book to help me be even more organized and ensure I didn't miss something that needed to be done beforehand. There is so much to do and remember during a move and the section in the book about moving is perfect to keep around for that! Thank you to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Fair Winds Press for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Funny thing - turns out I don't need this book! I smugly realized that I am actually very organized when I noticed that I already have done most of the tips outlined here. I have always been a bit of a neat freak, but I requested this book thinking I could always be EVEN neater. Validation is sweet!
An excellent guide for keeping a tidy home.Step by step organizing in an easy non overwhelming organized way.A very helpful guide to achieving a welcoming relaxing home.#netgalley#quarto
A book full of useful hints and advice.
I liked how it is organised and I will surely follow some of the hints.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Thank you Quatro - Fair Winds Publishing and Netgalley for an ARC in return of my honest review.
This book of 210 hints is organised into rooms of the house and occasions, such as parties, travel etc.
The hints may help someone who is leaving home for the first time, although the book appeared to be aimed at families. I found the hints mostly very commonsense so didn’t really gain anything from this book. I was hoping for something more, especially when one hint under airplane travel was to deflate beachballs before packing.
Again, as with the other book in this little series of guides, this is more a collection of tips to cleaning your house more than a guide.
I was expecting ideas on how to organize your home and make things easier, most of these ideas are very common sense and things that I do on a daily basis.
10 Minute Tidy Home by Sara L Hunter is a super wee book. It is well written and has numerous sections with each room and the chores to do to make them tidier. They are all quick and relatively easy to do so definately 10 minute chores.
An enjoyable book that was also quick to read. You could just quickly browse though it and get started on the tidy. Now off to put the great ideas into action.
Thanks to Netgalley and Quatro Publishing for the ARC Copy of this book. My review is my own opinion.
I am a BIG organizer, so I felt like this book did not really do anything for me or give me any new ideas, but for someone who is young and just starting out or for someone who is messy and wants to become organized this would be a great fit for them. Also, I really liked how it was broken into sections like kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, laundry etc. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This is much more than just doing chores but doing them more efficiently. Good organizing tips, some of which will be put to good use the rest of your life. Only caveat for me is the mention of using AAA to print up route, etc. Since most people have cell phones, they can use an app for directions or some device like a Garmin. These devices are easier for the driver to use than a sheet of paper.
I received an advanced reader copy from NetGalley in exchange for my volunteer review.
Thank you Quarto Books and Netgalley for a copy of 10-Minute Tidy Home by Sara Hunter for review. Available September 17/19.
This book was divided by room and had a list of ten minute or so tasks that could be done in each. I found some of them to be quite obvious but if you were hoping for an easy way to choose a task, it would be great to just work your way through all the tasks in order. Half the problem for me is trying to decide what to do first so this book might help with that. I didn't find it ground-breaking and was hoping for more of a system or plan to keeping a house tidy every day rather than smaller cleaning tasks that are quite intuitive anyway.
What I liked about this book: I’ve read tons of home organization/cleaning books in the past but this book offered some new and innovative ideas that I haven’t heard before. The book is well-organized by grouping the recommendations by room and each recommendation seemed easy to implement.
What I disliked about this book: I wish the book would have provided more guidance on how to prioritize the recommendations.
Thanks to NetGalley for providing an advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.
10-Minute Tidy Home is a comprehensive book to help you organize your home and space. The book itself is quite organized and it’s divided up into categories – house, entertaining and parties, vacations and bus trips, and moving. Within the categories there are sub-sections so it’s quite easy to zero in on the areas of your life that you would like to organize.
It is full of useful tips and advice. It would be of particular interest to someone who feels disorganized and inefficient. Many of the suggestions I already follow but, even so, I found a few ideas here and there that I will add to my home. Even though I didn’t get a lot of new ideas from this book, I have to give it high marks for how comprehensive it is, how well organized it is, and how easy it is to read and understand.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.
10-Minute Tidy Home is an organized book for those who want to have a tidy and organized home. I liked that the book is split into sections - rooms in the house. I liked the part about the vacation.
I liked the idea, design and the book itself but I didn't find any new suggestions for myself. As someone before me wrote, this book would be a nice gift for someone who just started living on their own.
A few things had me thinking "Wait doesn't everyone do that already?" I guess not. But there were a lot of great ideas. New to me or not. It's a great little book full of helpful tips, especially for someone who might need it.
This is a helpful little book. Sara L. Hunter breaks things down into manageable pieces that you feel like you can actually do! The book is categorized by rooms and events (thanks for the tips on parties) o help you easily find ways to help whatever area is causing you the most issues.
The only negative is I don't like the art; it's the same generic and garish looking clip art style that runs through the 10-Minute line, But I wouldn't let that detract you from the tips inside!
I don't consider myself a tidy person, yet I'm already doing a lot of the things suggested here. I suppose my house is well-organized, even if it's not always clean! The guidance in this book contains a lot of no-brainers, such as to store all your pajamas together, or put your dirty laundry in a hamper. The author suggests using hooks, baskets, and shelving to group and contain items in specific locations, which I've found useful around my home. What I found more useful was the later sections in the book in regard to staying organized when throwing a party, having house guests, and traveling. It also includes guidance for wrangling kids' clutter, which doesn't pertain to me.
Overall, this is a very simple, straight forward guide to organizing your home and other aspects of life. Most of the content was stuff I've encountered elsewhere over the years, although I will say this addresses many aspects in one place, which is nice. This would be a great book to gift a high school graduate, or someone moving into their own place for the first time. If you're not new to the world of decluttering and organizational methods, you might not find anything here groundbreaking.
There are loads of great tips and ideas in this book. I now have some new storage ideas. I think that having all these tips in a book is a great idea. I have a few friends who will love this book.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.
More practical for the first time home or apartment dweller. Tons of practical advise!

This book is beautifully designed. It has sort of an Art Deco-meets-clean modern style and color palette. I really loved looking through it. The content also is helpful. Most pieces of advice were pretty common-sense, but it is nice to have them all collected in one place. This would make a nice gift for a young person moving out on their own for the first time.
Really great tips and a brief explanation of the tip. Take what you need, and leave what you don't need. A great addition to the two other books I have read like this. Nice quick tips that the reader could use at any time in a short amount of time.
3 out of 5
**OMG! I cannot believe that these reviews haven't been done! I am so sorry they are so late!!!**
I was skeptical that I would like this book, but it was perfect! So simple with each chapter having a different room or part of the house, with no big long paragraphs or anything about feng shui. Just lists and more lists, which I LOVE! I will slowly be going through each of these steps in my home.

I'm not tidy, my mother in particular will attest to that. The idea of being able to tidy in ten minutes seemed like a good one. I like the book in general, the tips are short and organised by room so you could use it to tackle problem areas.
The problem I had was that I didn't learn anything very new. Perhaps that says more about me than the book though, I know all this stuff but don't do it.
I think that this would have been ideal when I moved into my first home.
This is a great book for those of us who want to be organized, but struggle with getting started. The tips provided really came in handy.
10 Minute Tidy Home by Sara Hunter is a handy little book for those who aren't organized and for those who are. The informative book is broken down into chapters by areas of the home. There is a chapter for your kitchen, living room, bathrooms, bedrooms etc. There is a section for overnight guests, throwing a party, moving and how to deal with clutter in your home office.
I am extremely organized and this book had information even I hadn't even thought of. Great book and full of helpful information
I would like to thank the publisher, the author and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A very inspiring book. An easy to read book that helps motivate you towards really tidying your home, really useful and inspired me to crack on with my house tidy up.
This book is so much more than a book about a tidy-home, it also offers tips, tricks and advice on party planning, trip-planning, hostessing, and more.
Much of this book is common sense, but the author makes a lot of good points.
There are such a variety of topics and tips that I think every person will find at least 1 thing to relate to/find useful.
When I downloaded this book I thought it was just organization tips for your home, so I was a little confused when there was an entire section covering Vacations and Business Trips. In this aspect, I do think the book needs a better title that encompasses more of what the book covers.
10-Minute Tidy Home is a new release in a series of how-to books (10-minute series). Much of this content was previously released in 2005 as 10-Minute Organizing by Sarah Hunter. This re-format and re-release by Quarto on their Fair Winds Press imprint came out 17th Sept 2019, is 208 pages and is available in ebook and hardcover formats.
This is a very basic book aimed at encouraging and supporting readers in getting their living environments more tidy and organized. The format is simple, logical, and easy to follow. The first chapter deals specifically with the home environs, room by room. The next two sections cover entertaining, and tidiness when traveling. There is also a short index.
The content is -very- basic and common sense. It's presented buffet-style, with a pick-and-mix variety of short tips such as 'stack bowls to save space' and 'take juice boxes out of the plastic wrap so they're easily accessible' and 'store important documents and papers in a safe place'. I could see this being a useful guide tucked into a basket of house-warming items for a newly moved out youngster on their own for the first time, possibly.
There are some high-contrast simplified graphics and illustrations, but no photography. The streamlined graphics sort of coordinate with the bullet point lists of tips for organizing. There wasn't much here which will be groundbreaking for the majority of readers. It is short and easy to read and the author's style is friendly, conversational, and upbeat.
Three stars.
Don't let the title give you high hopes. This 200-plus page book will not get your house tidy in 10 minutes. Rather, the book is full of ideas about how to organize each room in your home so that it will be tidier; these tips are meant to be done in 10 minutes each. It really isn't about decluttering or cleaning, the latter mentioned in the subtitle of the book. I found some of the tips to be super basic and common sense, while others were ideas I had not thought of. Not every tip would be something that everyone would use or need, but there is a lot in here that gives food for thought about how to have a more organized home. Despite what the author promises, not every tip would take only 10 minutes to accomplish. Some would take only minutes, while others could take hours depending on your current level of disorganization. In the introduction, the author does suggest that whatever task you attempt, to only do it in small 10-minute doses so that way you don't give up, overwhelmed by the task or the greater sense of all that you need to accomplish.
The book is split into three parts. Part 1 is what I talked about above, where she gives tips for each room in the home, including the garage. She takes her organizational skills beyond stuff in the house for parts two and three. In part 2, she gives tips for having stress-free holidays, house guests, and parties. In part 3, she discusses travel and moving. I did find the book helpful, and I believe I will be implementing some of her ideas.
10-Minute Tidy Home is a handy book that gives some useful information and advice. Easy to read and use.
I have to confess I am a little disorganised and it helps me a lot to read and prepare myself for cleaning excercies.
We are living with 2 grown ups and 2 children in a little House, ans sometimes it is a little overwhelming to tidy up after 4 People.
This book helped me to get some ground work done.
I am very grateful that i got the chance to read it.
A breath of fresh air after the last "10 minute house organisation" book I recently read! So many tips! So practical and useful! Gave me quite a few ideas I'll be putting into practice over coming weeks/months/years.
A really good resource if you are struggling with masses of clutter and are at a loss as to how to start tackling the mess. All the sections are quick and easy to read and are relatively easy to complete the tasks within ten minutes. A useful book that can be dipped into.
I think we’ve all looked around the house and wondered how we got so much stuff and what we can do to keep it organized and tidy. Sara Hunter has wondered too, but she took action, and now she helps others find their happy place at home. With over 400 ideas for cleaning and organizing all the rooms in your house, 10-Minute Tidy Home can offer you more suggestions than you’ll know what to do with to create a calm and peaceful home, to entertain with ease, and to travel and even move with clarity and organization.
And many of these ideas can be done in ten minutes or less, so instead of trying to organize everything all in one weekend (and feeling overwhelmed), you can do a little every day or every week, and end the year with a far tidier house than you started with.
Store utensils in a crock. Keep magazine recipes in clear protective sheets. Hang pots and pans. Put magnetic clips on the refrigerator for kids’ art. Discard old makeup and expired medicines. use towel hooks, one per person. Store bath toys in a mesh bag inside the shower. Digitize home videos. Hang a letter rack/key hook by the front door.
Store toy cars in a plastic tote. Organize the board games. Put winter clothes in tubs under the bed in the summer. Use robe hooks and a jewelry box. Put all hair accessories in a caddy. Hang bags on a coat hook in the closet. Use a hook on the back of the closet door for hats and caps. Put beach accessories in a large tote bag.
Use a large calendar for family events. Back up devices. Scan business cards. Calculate credit card rates and create a 12-month budget. Clear out old emails and voicemails. Hang a closet rod in the laundry room. Use plastic stackable drawers for sewing or craft supplies. Store ornaments in an egg container. Use hooks to hang rakes, shovels, and ladders. Put an umbrella stand by the door.
For entertaining, make a guest list with a space for responses. Set up holiday playlists. Decorate the house early. Make sure there are hangers in the guest room. Set up a basket with bottled water and snacks for guests. Make breakfast the night before. Establish an end time for children’s parties.
For vacations, set up a notebook or app for travel details. Research restaurants and activities ahead of time. Roll clothes to save space. Keep travel wipes handy. Bring a first aid kit. For moving, write down details. Put all your essentials in one box. Unpack kids’ rooms first. Make the beds as soon as they’re set up.
This is just a handful of the hundreds of ideas in this book. Will all of these ideas work for everyone? Of course not. But with the number of ideas 10-Minute Tidy Home offers, there is something in there for every home owner. And not only that, having someone offer up ideas for organization helps you look clearly at the rooms in your house and see what other things you can do to create a simple, warm house. It’s a jumping off point that you can use for help and for inspiration.
10-Minute Tidy Home is a great resource for those who feel completely overwhelmed by the details of their life, and a treasure trove of ideas for those who are organized in some areas but not others. Some of the ideas may seem simple, but they can still stimulate creativity and help you create a home and a life that is organized, tidy, clean, and peaceful.
Galleys for 10-Minute Tidy Home were provided by Quarto Publishing Group through NetGalley, with many thanks.
Thank you NetGalley, publisher and author for this book
Half way through I realised I am already very tidy but that is probably because I've read "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up".
This has lots of good tips for various rooms and things and thankfully I am already pretty tidy but it did give me more ideas and some I could use at work.
