On a grey London day, Esme’s world crumbles around her when she loses her glitzy job on a top TV programme, her gorgeous, city-slicker boyfriend and her stunning apartment, all in one fell swoop just before Christmas.
Esme is forced suddenly to move back to her sleepy home town of Sandchester, and despite the snow blanketing the roof and the fairy lights that twinkle in her rustic little cottage, everything is looking bleak. That is until she reconnects with an old crush and finds herself unexpectedly getting swept away.
But Joe, handsome and charming as he is, is not all he seems. Esme soon realises that he has a tragic past which he just might not be able to overcome…
Surrounded by her loving, if hare-brained, family and with the support of her hilarious friends, Esme is determined to have a go at forging her own path, even if it all comes to nothing. But one question still lingers in her mind: will she find someone to kiss under the mistletoe this Christmas?
Perfect for fans of Lucy Coleman, Karen Swan and Jo Thomas

I thought this book was really lovely. The main character Esme is really relatable and funny. This is exactly the kind of cosy read I love at Christmas. Will certainly be purchasing a copy for my library.
What a good read this book was. The author spins a great tale, with lovely, human and often eccentric characters. The book is a real roller coaster, following the trials and tribulations of the leading lady. Plenty of emotions, sad and happy. Lots of hilarious scenes. Katie has a gift for writing those. All of this tied up in a nice romantic package. I’m now inspired to go and make a batch of cheese scones. You won’t regret picking this book up but make sure you’ve got plenty of time as you won’t want to put it down.
A really lovely Christmas read When Esme loses her job and also her partner who dumps her she decides to go home to her family where she rents a little cottage while deciding what to do next As she used to be a food critic and a fabulous cook she decides to start her own on line blog She struggles to get it off the ground but with the help of her friends and her great personality she starts to make it a success Tha characters are fabulous, the food blog is hilarious and you can almost taste the the fabulous recipes they sound so amazing A heartwarming novel with tears and laughter which makes it a great festive read loved it
Oh My Word, what a book. An absolutely charming, heart warming and totally engaging story. This book will have you wanting to savour and devour it in equal measure. Full of delightful recipes, fabulous friendships, furtive behaviour and maybe a festive romance for good measure, this book has it all. I absolutely recommend grabbing yourself a copy. Thank you so much to netgalley,HQ Digital and of course Katie Ginger for the opportunity to read and advanced copy.
Esme is having a tough time. It's just a few months before Christmas, and she's lost her job, boyfriend, and flat all in one day. Returning to her family home outside of London seems to be her only choice, but she can't help feeling like a bit of a failure. With no career, no home, and definitely no love life, the future is looking bleak. But we all know Christmas is a magical time of year...
A lovely, heart-warming read, absolutely perfect for Christmas! Esme is such a wonderfully written, genuinely likeable character, I couldn't help but root for her. I did find the big mystery of Joe's background a bit grating as it felt a teeny bit dragged out, but that is me being very fussy. And Mistletoe Cottage! I absolutely adored it!
Definitely a worthwhile read if you're a fan of Christmas books. I've never read any of Katie's other books, but I can guarantee I'll be taking a look at her backlist!
This is the Christmas story I've been longing for for years! Christmas stories are my favorite but the issue I have with them is there's no meat....underdeveloped characters and a simple feel good plot. Mistletoe Cottage had characters you could relate to, not just "light read". The story is beautifully written and has so much depth to it. Could possibly be the best feel good book of the season. Wish I could give more than 5*s
