Loved this book! I was hooked from the first chapter. The writing, the pace, the characters - everything was perfect. Everything you want out of a thriller.

I devoured The Mothers in one sitting it is excessively addictive with a terrific cast of characters and an involving, emotionally resonant, twisty mystery.
Sarah J Naughton is a masterful plotter with a keen eye for divisive, entertaining and authentic characters. Any parent will relate to the sometimes funny, sometimes sad vagaries of parenting and the mystery element is steeped in atmosphere as we watch this group of Mum’s come together and fall apart in equal measure.
Then of course there’s the missing husband. Where did he go? Well many scenario’s present themselves for your consideration as the narrative moves between past and present, the ending when it comes is hugely satisfying and beautifully done.
Bonds bend and break but one thing remains…most of us have someone who we’d call to help bury the body, whether literal or metaphorical. This book will make you seriously consider who that person might be. I think for me it would be Katherine Armstrong (sorry Katherine I’ll try to never actually kill anyone) I’m sure the author has her own person with a spade on speed dial…
The Mothers is a fantastic read, one of friendship, love, betrayal and those human connections we all seek every day.
Definitely recommend.

I loved The Mothers! I must admit it took some time getting used to all the characters but I loved them all! I wasn’t expecting this book to shock me as much as it did and you get two end twists for the price of one! Both of which were obviously fantastic. The plot is clever and keeps you guessing.
You can’t ask for anything else really!

I enjoyed this novel very much. The characters were extremely well drawn and sympathetic, and the story line was seamless. Highly reccomend this excellent book.

A story about 5 women, who don’t seem to share much in common apart from the fact they are mothers.
The story is told from multiple viewpoints, including the Mothers themselves and a police officer who is in charge of an investigation that is at the heart of the novel. The narrative also jumps around in terms of timeline, so would be interesting to reread knowing the outcome of the story.
Would recommend as an intriguing read.

When it comes to a good gripping thriller of a read, Sarah Naughton consistently delivers, and I’m delighted that ‘The Mothers’ continues this trend. The story is told in both past and present from the perspectives of a group of NCT/parent craft mums and the police detective investigating the simultaneous suspicious disappearances of one of the friends and the husband of another.
I applaud Sarah Naughton for the unpredictability of this story, I loved that I had no idea where it was going and was suitably entertained by plot twists throughout.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story and don’t hesitate to give it 5 stars.
Many thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for the pleasure of reading this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, what can I say about this book?
Had me gripped right from the start.
I loved the way we went from scenes from "the mother's club" to the investigation, and then to chapters about each of the 5 main characters.
Bella's husband goes missing. So does his passport and his clothes. Has he just left his wife and son or is there something more sinister going on?
This is a thrilling read as we learn the secrets of Bella and her husband Ewan, and the other mother's, Chrissy, Electra, Skye, and Jen.
And just when we think the story has come to it's conclusion, there's a sting in the tale!
Loved it!

I loved The Mothers!
Naughton has written such an enchanting tale, wrought with tension and suspense and she really had me believing that the mothers club didn’t like each other!
The Mothers is the story of 5 new mothers who met at their antenatal classes and although they’re vastly different people, they vowed to stick together forever, whatever. When tragedy strikes one of the mothers, will they band together to save her or throw her under the bus?
Naughton’s characters are vibrant and clever and all have a specific part to play, and boy do they play them well!
A must read if you’re a fan of the genre; I’ll definitely be looking out for more of Naughton’s work!

5 mothers meet during pregnancy at the local Nct group and continue their friendship theough the trials and tribulations of motherhood , friendship put to the test when the police investigate the disappearance of one of their husbands
Not having read this author before i was not sure what to expect but having read the mothers i will be reading her other works

An exciting thriller of a book revolving around the missing husband of the Mothers club - a group of mums who all get together regularly to put the world to rights and support each other through the ups and downs of real life. When one of the gangs husband walks out on her they all have to rally around to help support her as the police start investigating the disappearance. This kept me guessing and hooked until the last page.

Tense psychological thriller which will keep you guessing right to the end. Well drawn characters and a double twist at the end that I didn’t see coming !

The mother’s is a really good tense psychological thriller that will keep you guessing right until the very end!
A group of new mums meet at an NCT class and although they are all very different they gel and bond over the course of the classes and continue their friendship as the children grow! Their friendship is tested as a baby is lost, a mum suffers mental health issues, a child is diagnosed with autism and they all endure the rigours of early parenthood! However no one could predict the extent they are prepared to go to to help one of them out and the twists and repercussions this will have as time goes by, a tense, interesting, thrilling read!
Thank you net galley for this early read.

Bella’s husband disappears and the police are investigating his disappearance and suspect the ladies have some involvement.
What a bloody good read this was. The characters are built up well and you can sympathise with them all. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
