Author involvement At the age of 33, Shauna Martin was diagnosed with breast cancer. With a very young family to care for, Shauna had an extremely difficult time recovering from multiple surgeries and chemotherapy. The effect on her body was toxic, and she began eating raw fruits and vegetables and drinking a green juice every single day to promote her health and well-being. Eight years later, Shauna is still cancer-free, and she credits her recovery from breast cancer, in part, to her current healthy lifestyle which includes a regiment of drinking green juice every day. Shauna started Pink Ribbon Cowgirls for young cancer survivors, and a portion of Daily Greens sales are set aside to grant funding to groups that support young women with cancer. She started her company, Daily Greens, in 2012, and her juice line can be found in Whole Foods, Natural Grocers, and health food stores all across the country.
Given that this author already has a brand and products, we would begin our marketing and publicity plan by working closely with the sales team to reach out to accounts that already sell Shauna's product and request they sell the book (example: Whole Foods). Following that, we will reach out to media who have already covered Shauna and those that she has a good relationship with.
We will request that Shauna helps us with the following initiatives: - Amazon/Goodreads author pages - Goodreads giveaway - Book plate promotion to drive presales - Blog tour - Tweetchats/Google+ hangouts - Events: Expo East/West? Advertising Investments: Clean Eating Magazine Marketing Materials: Book plates, Postcards

A quick read with beautiful bright photographic pictures to accompany the recipes. Good introduction and reason to juice with the health benefits of juice and smoothies.
The recipes are all very easy to follow with not too many ingredients, the ingredients can also be found in the supermarket not lots of strange or hard to obtain ingredients that come at a price. I like how the book is broke up into seasons so you can use the correct seasons produce. A shopping list at the beginning of each season also makes things easier. When I started reading and trying the recipes I like the mix of additional options in the book according to the season. The health benefit information before each recipe also help if you want something for a particular reason or benefit. I really enjoyed this book and trying the recipes.
Very interesting. Lots of great healthy information to put into practice. This is definitely a very well written book. Lots of thought has gone into it
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This book was a quick read for me but one I enjoyed reading through. Some of these recipies sound and look amazing and I really want to try at least a dozen of them. I love the concept of this book and the pictures are bright and inviting.
As someone with a sweet tooth I'm intrigued to see if I can curb it and snacking with this recipe book, even in a little way. I'd love to eat more raw veg and I think I'd manage it much better using some of the smoothies and juices in this book.
I really wanted to read this but I can’t download it! My review score is based on my want to read it and my disappointment that I can’t get it to download properly!
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a well structured and beautifully layed out juice and smoothie book. The author categorizes each recipe by seasons and includes soups, salads and other meals. Visually appealing and recipes are easy to make. A definite must buy !
This book is not filled with the run of the mill recipes you usually see in a smoothie book. The recipes are filled with nutrition hill being flavorful and fun. The section on salads is a wonderful find and I was delighted to o see the included. I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend it. I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
Wow, this book looks fantastic! Lots of recipes, and all the info you need to get started. There are a few recipes for salads too. I look forward to trying these out.
If you want to try out juices and get more vitamins in you - then this is the way to go.
This book contains juices and smoothies, but also superfood recipes organised by seasons.
You need to get over the icky feeling of drinking something green, because most juices are based on kale or spinach or cucumber, but then you are good to go.
For once, there is a good variety of recipes and they don't feel like they are just variations of the same juice.
You will need a proper juicer and a few other pieces of equipment to get started, but if you are not sure, just try out the solid food recipes for now and see how you feel.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader's Copy of this book. I received this in exchange for my honest review.
"Did you know that our bodies absorb over 97% of the nutrients contained in raw vegetables and fruits? Compare that to vitamin supplements made in a laboratory, which have an absorption rate of 5 to 25 percent"
WHAT!?!?!?!? No, I did not know this. This fun little fact made me want to dive in and learn so much more. I learned a lot from this book and as a mom of three learning what it means to be healthy, I was very excited. I got a nice little history lesson about how "the hunt" for meat has been the focus of our ancestors instead of the focus on how much not meat they used to eat.... "It was common for our ancient ancestors to eat up to six pounds of leaves per day". This number is insane and blew my mind. With my nutrition portions, I am eating 4 cups of vegetables and 3 cups of fruit. Far from six pounds.
After explaining "why to juice" and the equipment I would need to be successful, I then found a lot of delicious recipes... and they weren't all juices/smoothies. Eggs, sandwiches, salads, salsas ect. A great verity to keep my belly satisfied.
I will definitely be recommending this book to my fitness girls and anyone who would be interested in learning to eat a little healthier.
This was a very quick read and extremely interesting.
Most of the recipes looked so good and are so doable. The pictures are so inviting and yummy looking. I felt like going and making it there and then!!
I liked how they gave nutritional information as well. and apart from the juices and smoothie recipes, there were so many healthy tasty salad rand soup ecipes thrown in as well.
I also liked how they divided the book according to seasons.
This is a definite buy for people looking to be healthy without compromising on nutrients and taste.
Thanks to NetGalley for giving me a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I love this small smoothie book, with seasonal fruit and veggie recipes. I also found many other recipes for salads and dressing. What I also liked was all the pictures that went with the recipes.
Who doesn't want to feel better and have more energy? This book has fantastic recipes for juices, smoothies and soups loaded with nutrient-dense plant foods. Guaranteed to give you a boost of energy and a better mood.
Thank you, Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley!
As an introduction to this topic, it's difficult to consider what a more comprehensive book would look like yet it never strays into overwhelming territory and everything presented is worth knowing and not just unnecessary additional detail. As for the recipes there is a little something there for everyone; I use my Nutri Bullet to help with my 5-a-day as I find eating enough vegetables, in particular, is no easy feat for me but ground into a tasty smoothie with a tonne of fruit makes it not only so much simpler and more straightforward to achieve the correct diet but all the tastier too; it's a win-win situation. Of course, I have a good few go-to recipes I drink copious amounts of but I was excited to try some of the new and inspirational concoctions featured here.
I thought the way in which the book was structured was very appealing as it was set out in four sections each representing a single season of the year with recipes showcasing the freshest ingredients available in said season and there are plenty of cost-effective tips on where to go to score the best ingredients for the cheapest prices. Each vibrant recipe is accompanied by a colour photograph to show what you should be aiming for and easy to follow instructions that children through to the elderly can understand. However, there are more than just smoothies to tempt you between these inviting looking pages, there are meals too; scrumptious looking soups, salads, casserole and stir-fry dishes all make an appearance and fit in with the overall overarching idea of the book - to supplement your diet with plenty of the good ol' stuff our bodies need to regenerate.
Reinvigorate both your bookshelf and diet today! I really enjoyed this book and I really cannot recommend it highly enough. An excellent and utterly wholesome book that can be dipped in and out of at will and the perfect present for the health and nutrition nut in your life. Many thanks to Quarto Publishing Group - Rock Point for an ARC.
Energizing Superfood Juices and Smoothies by Shauna R. Martin
Nutrient-Dense, Seasonal Recipes to Jump-Start Your Health
Reading the author’s story and what lead her to open a business dedicated to juicing was interesting and inspirational. I am glad that the changes she made in her life were affirming and that she has shared her insights with others.
This book has beautiful photographs and easy to follow recipes for juices, smoothies, salads and main courses all based on fruits and vegetables in season. I liked the way the flavors were easy to “taste” in my mind without actually making them in real time. The one question I had was what one is to do with the waste from making the juice? I looked on the business website and found it is recycled and often returned to the farmer the produce was purchased from but for an individual making a juice daily...what would they do with the fiber waste? The reason I ask is that I tried to use it at a friend’s home and it did not make a soup at all...adding in liquid to roughage just didn’t work.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Rock Point for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4 Stars
I've recently got into making smoothies for breakfast and loved the inspiration in this book. Clear instructions, not too many ingredients and just a nice book to dip in and out of for ideas.
I used to have a juicer back home in Puerto Rico. It was a relatively cheap Jack Lalane juicer that I bought at Costco, but after reading this book (and another I will review shortly) I realize how much I have missed juicing and have invested in a Breville Big Squeeze so that I may prepare the concoctions.
Thank you NetGalley for an early copy of Energizing Superfood Juices and Smoothies: Nutrient-Dense, Seasonal Recipes to Jump-Start Your Health. I have been juicing for a while and was excited for some new recipes and ideas and this provided some great additions. The recipes are broken up into seasons, taking advantage of the freshest ingredients to make juicing more fun and less expensive. Each recipe includes a vibrant photo and easy to follow instructions. Martin has also included shopping lists, tips and extra details for some of the entries. Not into juicing? Not to worry there are a plenty of meal recipes for each season too, think soups, casseroles and stir-frys.
Tasty, healthy juice and smoothie book that will be your best friend for making tasty and energising drinks at home from fruits and vegetables.
I am very keen on eating healthily and love all kinds of fruits and veg so anything like this gets a big yes from me.
You can follow the recipes to the letter or take inspiration and mix and match depending on what you have in the fridge that needs using (I'm also keen on not wasting anything!)
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
