Description
Michele is a middle-aged mother of two. Her world crumbles when she discovers that her partner is a cheat. Embarking on single life and like so many these days, she enters the world of online dating in the hope of finding her soul mate. How hard could it be?
She takes us through her online dating adventures, from site selection and safety guidelines to building her profile and matching with potential suitors. We are taken on the journey of Michele’s messaging, dates and hopes. Amongst those were some very lucky escapes…
Through her attempts at online dating, she encounters all types of men: the pen-friends who have no intentions of ever meeting her, the delusional, the dull, the workaholic, the alcoholics, the football crazy, the narcissist, the scammers and even a gold-digger! But above all, the so many that are leading a double life with the sole purpose of finding extra-marital excitement. All easily recognisable when questioned about their situation… The answer comes back as the same tuneless leitmotif: “It’s complicated.”
The search for true love is far more tortuous than she first anticipated, but having more time for herself leads her to get closer to a divorcee from her group of friends, someone she had known for years…

A quick and witty account of the author's adventures in online dating. Paul is brutally honest about her encounters and sheds light on the murky world of online dating for women of a certain age.
The subject of online dating is almost unknown to me. I was curious. I wanted to know the system, how it affected both sides and what were the outcomes! I was also curious because in this book we are dealing with much older people so I felt I could empathize as well. (I couldn't!!) but thats another story.
Michele is a single mother of two middle aged, left alone by a cheating partner. Nothing extra ordinary there. Her adventures though in the field of online dating were numerous and hard, just showing human nature at its worst most of the time, how selfish people could be only seeing their own needs, their own worlds and insular and narrow minded to the last. The book did not leave me with a good taste of what online dating could be, because the joys of companionship, partnership, finding a soul mate is offset by the pettymindedness you have to go through to get there.
Most of the time reading this I felt for Michele who was trying to keep an even balance whilst in her search. Why she needed to search so much was also beyond me completely, but then that is a personal whim of mine and does not detract from Michele's story one whit. I found it hard reading about a woman who put so much into her search, was willing to see the good side of everyone she dated, was willing to give a second chance to all - for what??
This was a good book, matter of fact, precise and exposed warts and all of the many facets of humans seeking relationships. The fact that I couldnt understand the whys and wherefores is not the authors problem.
This was a super quick, witty and sassy read. I found it relatable and accessible. The writing style was not my favorite. It felt more like Paul was chatting with me than writing her experiences. Overall, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to friends.
Online dating is always a very appealing subject I always want to read about. This was was indeed sassy and entertaining for the most part.
Michelle seemed to be a strong woman balancing her single motherly role and trying to get a life in relationship. But I felt it was forced, the anxiousness was just too much. Still a good read. Many thanks to the publisher for the ARC
Fun and sassy, this book is ALL about authors online adventures. This book goes in to everything you need to know.
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
Honest open real. The author shares her experiences with on line dating.Shes honest sassy funny a book I breezed through really enjoyed. #netgalley#troubadorpublishing,
I found this an easy and quick read. Michele comes across as a forthright woman who struggles to find love online. As a woman who has struggled to meet eligible men online myself, I could identify with several of her experiences. Yes, I met several frogs before I met my Prince. While like Michele, I can look back and laugh at these experiences, they were not all pleasant when they were happening. While there certainly are genuine men out there, like Michele says there are several who are just out there to have fun on the side!
I think while being humorous, the book serves as a cautionary guide for women (and men) entering the world of online dating.
This book would have been better without every entry about various dates, etc without the “ it’s complicated”. Over and over again to the point of becoming nauseous. The author seemed a bit naive and it made me wonder why try the online dating thing? Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.
The author's writing is peppy and the book navigates her dating life through the internet. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC.
Completely real and relatable! There isn’t much we don’t learn about those dating experiences! Living in a world, where online dating is inevitable, I felt like I could relate to so many of those experiences. It just made me happy I don’t have to go through the online dating anymore, having found my love!
Great little read based around online dating. If you fancy a quick read then this book is for you,

I thought this was very relatable considering online dating is huge nowadays. The characters were relatable and the story had a good flow to it.
