Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I wish I had a physical copy of this book because it would make such a wonderful coffee table book or gift! It is filled with quotes, excerpts, and short essays on beauty (physical, inner, nature, and more) which are a delight to read. I would definitely purchase this book as a gift for a friend or family member so they can enjoy its wisdom.
Being Beautiful by Helen Gordon and Amanda Berglund is a rich tapestry of beauty over time. It is sometimes hard to read and sometimes sad, but always rich in wonder. I normally pick up a mystery or a thriller, but this book was one of the first to make me be at peace. It was a reflection of what beauty means to us - what does it really mean? i have a chance now to truly look at the world and decide for myself as did all the quotes here. It is a quick read but also breathtaking!
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group at Chartwell Books and NetGalley for the digital copy and the opportunity to read this glorious book. Opinions here are my own.
Being Beautiful by Helen Gordon , Amanda Berglund. This collection of quotes, poems, and artwork from the world’s great thinkers was very inspiring. A quick and lovely read.
This is one of the most perfect and gorgeous books I have read that focuses on beauty and body positivity for all ages, size, shapes, and colors. I love how this book focuses on levels of beauty, and relates ways to talk about how everyone is beautiful or possess some sort of beauty in very special and individual ways. This book is so perfect and gorgeous and inspiring to read. I enjoyed that this book works in different types of writing, especially poetry. It almost captures its own ethereal beauty in that way. The artwork is bright and simple but still captures a basic or intrinsic sort of beauty. Great book and I highly recommend it!!
Special thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this advanced e-copy of the book.
Being Beautiful is a collection of quotes, poems, and essays on the ideas of beauty. Split up into sections based on the "type" of beauty (inner beauty, outer beauty, etc.) - the collection includes original graphic artwork, collecting thoughts of celebrities, critics, artists and more to answer the defining question, what is beauty?
A coffee table book, for certain. Could provoke some interesting conversation - but some of the quotes and excerpts feel thin in comparison to some of the others. Perhaps not as great of an impact as a digital book as a tangible copy. Introduced me to a handful of new poems and pieces that I'd not read or heard of before!
