Of all people, parents may benefit from practicing mindfulness (if only they can make the time).  There are so many stresses and challenges that come with being a mom that stepping back for a moment can be incredibly helpful.  This book aims to help with that.  Some of the topics covered include love, the first few months, mothering together, tantrums, impermanence, the daily grind, challenges and acceptance, gratitude, , teenagers and the journey onwards, among others.  This book offers gentle advice to mothers.  Maybe this title will help you or a mom that you know.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.

Forbes walks us through the big themes of motherhood: love, sleep deprivation; finding your tribe;
identity; guilt; drudgery; boundaries; and conflict. She remind us to examine the archetypes and the expectations and see them for what they are - constructs. Her message is simple - be kind to yourself and see how this affects your family.
I only give this book four stars because the illustrations are terrible.
The message is a good one though and this will make a lovely mother’s day or new mother gift.

This isn't a parenting manual but a gentle reminder that we are all human and no one is perfect (parents or children), but that's ok. So often parenting books leave me feeling less than, but this was encouraging. I just wish it was longer with more substance. It would be a nice gift for a new mom, but I don't think it's the best fit for the library where I work.

I was sent Mindful Thoughts of Mothers by Riga Forbes to review and honestly, its brilliant.
It touches on mum guilt, mental health, mindfulness, the environment and feminism to name a few. I will definitely be adding this to my book shelf!

I received an ARC of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

This book is a gentle approach to parenting and stages of dealing with and living with our children as well as advice and encouragement for ourselves as mothers too. I have two children so I have experienced a lot of what this book covers and can relate to some of the advise given.
This book would be a great book for a new parent or first time parent.

This is a pleasingly small book that would be a great baby shower gift. It well written, accessible, and allows mothers to give themselves permission to feel terrible and gives ideas on how to improve it. It would be very helpful during the early and overwhelming days when you are in shock about how relentless it is, and you feel like you are doing everything wrong.
