Description
Lucian Wing is an experienced, practical man who enforces the law in his corner of Vermont with a steady hand and a generous tolerance. But when local tearaway Sean 'Superboy' Duke starts to get tangled up with a group of major league Russian criminals, things start to go awry in the sheriff's small, protected domain.
With an ambitious and aggressive deputy snapping at his heels and a domestic crisis of his own to confront, Wing must call on all the personal resources he has cultivated during his working life: patience, tact, and - especially - humour.
Advance Praise
'I loved this book. A small miracle - sharp, sly, moving and full of heart.' Nick Cave
'Wonderful... every paragraph a gem. Freeman - like Cormac McCarthy, like Annie Proulx - shows us the awkward realness of lives, and does it with humour, with wry perception, with great style.' R. J. Ellory

A well written and fast read story, darkly humorous and gripping.
I loved the style of writing, the well thought cast of characters and the vivid setting.
The plot is engrossing and enjoyable, well crafted and it keeps you hooked.
An excellent read, highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
I thought the book good. Not every word a gem as described. It was a different concept than so many other books of this type. Good 5 stars.
Thanks, NetGalley for the advance copy to review.
law-enforcement, vermont, small-town, family-dynamics, friendship, organized-crime, sly-humor
The sheriff is laid back in his approach to law enforcement and interdepartmental cooperation and he has a way with descriptions. "Our radios are US military surplus, from the Army of the Potomac."
He has his hands full with a break in at the compound of an apparent Russian crime family, a recalcitrant young man of the community, an ambitious deputy, and there's something going on with his wife. Good story, smart policework, and a bit of small town policework anywhere. Loved it!

All That I Have by Castle Freeman was completely not what I was expecting. It was so much more. A fun and entertaining read with laugh out loud moments. Great characters running the gamut: eccentric, weird, batty, creepy and of course, the down to earth sheriff, Lucian Wing. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
A very entertaining story of a sheriff who has his life well in hand....and then he doesn't. As circumstances conspire to give our hero one headache after another, his actions and outlook keep the story moving at a fast pace. Castle Freeman has written a book that I'll tell all my friends to read.
A fun and entertaining read full of weird and eccentric characters. A little less on the mystery and sleuthing part but it was good to see Lucian finally get things done his way. A well-crafted story with tints of dark and quirky humour.
